  • While part of the work was to repair damage from ice dams, much of it was to make long-needed repairs.  I met with Galen to go over in detail the problems that needed to be addressed.  The ceilings in four rooms on the second floor had unsightly cracks, and new ceilings needed to be installed.  An ice dam had leaked into a bedroom and bulged out painted-over wall paper, revealing three different patterns. Cracks in walls from settling needed to be repaired.  And five rooms need to be painted.  We talked about the priorities and settled on the order in which the work should be done.  The noisiest and messiest would be the installation of the ceilings, and Galen suggested that that work be done at a time that was most convenient for the person living there.

:Wilmer and Nick did the vast majority of the painting and plaster repair work, and they are wonderful.  They both take great pride in their work, and it shows. They are also very neat: they, of course, hung plastic to keep as much dust as possible out of the rest of the house, and at the end of each day, everything is cleaned up.  When the ceilings were put up, a larger crew was brought it.  One room has a ceiling fan, which they carefully took down, wrapped in cloths, and stored.  When the ceiling was painted, Nick put the ceiling fan back up and made sure that it was working properly.  Removing the wallpaper was a messy challenge, and the wall underneath was rough and uneven. They smoothed it out nicely by sanding and plastering before painting so that it's difficult to tell that there was ever a problem.

I cannot express how delighted I am with the work that they did.  Each of the rooms was in need, two in dire need, of help, and Galen's crew worked magic.  I highly recommend Galen to anyone.  He is a pleasure to work with.

  • We had several rooms that required repainting as the result of ice dam-caused leakage.  We called Netto in late March and he came over within a couple of day and gave us a quick estimate.  He was able to get started promptly and we had most of the initial interior work done in April.  This included removing wallpaper, repairing the walls and repainting.  The work was done to a high standard and he cheerfully came back to correct a few minor mistakes.
Later in the Spring, we were able to rearrange furniture and he returned to do additional interior to the same high standard.
We also had extensive damage to the rear of the house that included a destroyed basement bulkhead and an expanse of facia and soffit that were pulled off by falling ice.  His lead carpenter Jose rebuilt the bulkhead, including putting on a new rubber roof. Some rot was discovered under the fascia and this was replaced.
Damaged vinyl siding was removed and the original clapboards restored by removing paint with a special tool, filling holes, sanding and repainting.  Where necessary, he replaced damaged boards with high quality cedar.  The finished product looks great!
All of the workers we prompt, courteous and easy to deal with.  They cleaned up the worksite and used HEPA vacuums for the lead paint dust generated in our older home.
We were extremely pleased with Netto and Company and plan to hire them again next summer.

  • Starting from the beginning they arrived on time with a very efficient representative to assess what had to be done. Came early each day and worked well until it was done. The cleanup was done very well.   Pleasant and attentive workers ready to help with any requests. They worked very neatly in order to preserve our original dark colored woodwork.
It was also very nice that they were able to adjust their work to accommodate our summer schedule as well.
I have used another lousy painter in the past and found that it pays to find one with a lot of users and good reviews on Angies list.

  • They were fantastic like my husband will accuse me of being in love with all of the painters.  They were here early September to provide the service.  They actually recommended that carpenter that I told you about it.  I think the service is $13,000.  Everything about them is an “A”.

  • They responded promptly to my first email about the Angie's Big Deal Coupon.
They had to cancel the first date we had set, because another job took longer than they had expected.  They called
to let me know.   Rescheduled easily on one of three dates I proposed.  Called the day before to confirm, and indicated time frame
within which they would arrive.  They worked quickly and efficiently, cleaned up well, and then looked at three other places in the house with wallpapering needs (removal and re-papering, etc.).
Very pleasant and "right to the work" approach. I would definitely use them again.

  • Mr. Aghassi always took the necessary time to discuss all the problems and solutions with us, gave us detailed cost estimates and schedules and was a pleasure to work with.  His penchant for detail shows his love for what he is doing.  He is always
able to put together a knowledgeable, courteous and dependable team of workers in all the disciplines needed to provide any service one needs.   We hired him in 2002 because of his impeccable reputation for the work he had done in our town.  We have hired him a couple more times since then and have always been satisfied with his approach, his knowledge and capability to produce his assignments on time.

  • Bogomil, the owner has been painting for me for at least 8 years.  I have a a room to paint every 2-3 years.  He ALWAYS does a great job.  He is the neatest painter I have ever seen, all the trim and tricky spots always look really good.  He is meticulous about the job, is a good listener about what I want, and offers suggestions to make things even better.  He is usually thinking of the big picture, he paints it to last and wants the final effect to look good.  He ALWAYS shows up when he says he will.  I have also asked him or his crew to help with hanging pictures or installing towel racks or touching up other rooms and he has always been very gracious about adding on these small jobs for a very reasonable price.  I have given him a key on multiple occasions and he has painted with my children and cats home.  My kids all know him as he has been painting here since they were small.  He is completely trustworthy and very honest.

  • Unlike several other contractors, Marcello responded promptly to my initial email.  Scheduling a time to meet and discuss the project was easy.   Marcello arrived at the agreed upon time and very patiently listened as I went through the list of improvements we wanted to make.  I had no idea how much these things would cost.  After going through the list, he asked some questions, and took the appropriate measurements.  He told me to expect an estimate shortly.

The estimate arrived within days and was far more detailed than I had expected.  He didn't just give us a number, for example, for the kitchen.  Included in that number were separate estimates for the stove installation, the backsplash, painting the walls, redoing the floor and repainting the cabinets.  The same went for all parts of the project.  Some of the ceiling repairs were related to a leak in the roof for which our condo association was responsible.  A separate estimate for this portion was also included.   When I had questions about the estimate, Marcello was always very quick to reply.  He and his crew came by a few more times before the work started to review the details.

We arranged to have the work done while we were away.  We have two kids under 3 and thought the better of trying to live in a work in progress.  In determining how much work we did, cost was one consideration.  The other one was timing.  We wanted the contractors to be able to finish as much as possible while we were away.  When the time arrived, we handed over the keys and got on the plane . . .

While we were away we didn't here anything from the crew, which we took as a good sign.   Our neighbors texted us that the crew arrived early in the morning and often stayed quite late in the evening.  They also worked over the weekend, were quiet, courteous and didn't make a mess.  We were nervous with excitement when we opened the front door late in the night after a long flight.  Everything looked great.  The ceilings no longer sagged, the cabinets looked brand new, the walls were smooth.   The work was about 90% done.  Things looked even better the following morning in the daylight.  Clearly a great deal of attention had been paid to the details.  Later that day -- it was a Sunday -- Marcello and his crew were back to finish up the job.  They were extremely apologetic about not having finished before our return.  Over the next day and a half, they worked long hours to get the job done.

There were, of course, the last few details.  Marcello kept asking if we had any other concerns, because he wanted us to be 110% satisfied.  He came back to readjust the cabinet doors so they would hang just right, and to install some lighting fixtures that arrived after the work was done.  All of this was very easy to coordinate. We have been extremely pleased with the work Marcello and his crew did.  They did exactly what they said they would do, paid attention to the details, and came in within budget.  They operate in an extremely organized, professional manner, and I would recommend them without any reservations.  When we have future work to do in our apartment, there is no question who will be doing it.

  • My Angie's list membership paid for itself- many times over- when I found Sergio. First, he is an incredibly nice and honest guy. When I met him, I immediately liked him- I just got a good vibe. It felt like I was getting a partner in this project. He made recommendations when I asked for them but was otherwise completely dedicated to making my ideas work. He said more than once, "nothing is impossible" whenever I would ask, "could we do this?" His contractors are all extremely reliable and they do great work! His electrician in particular is amazingly patient and helpful- we ran into a code issue with outlet placement and he came up with a creative and effective solution. And his tile guy- WOW. Now that is a master craftsman. With all of the men who came to work on the job over the course of 8 weeks, you could tell they took pride in their work. Sergio stopped by frequently to monitor progress and address any concerns or issues I had. He is responsive to phone calls so nothing ever escalated into a problem. The men were great at keeping things clean!! They taped everything up well and this helped keep dust and mess to a minimum. They cleaned up every day before they left and were very respectful, keeping everything looking nice. Despite all of this- his was actually one of the lower quotes I received for labor! After Sergio provides a written quote for labor, you sign a contract and he will estimate materials. I liked this type of pricing because I wanted to be able to shop around for deals myself on things like marble and fixtures. Sergio suggested vendors when I asked (his recommendation to use Atlantis Shower Door was spot on- one of the best decisions we made!!! They are awesome!) but didn't push any vendors on me. The *only* issue that arose was the total cost of rough materials (things like plaster, pipe, etc.) that he and his workers purchased. The total cost ended up being twice what he originally estimated- so it came as a bit of a surprise. He had receipts for everything, explained why the cost grew so high, and walked me through where and how everything was used. I don't doubt this cost, and I would still consider this an amazing value for how everything turned out with the magnitude of the project, but we're just lucky we had the money! I believe this problem could have been mitigated with better communication on my part and checking in to see if we were still close to the estimate throughout the project, because logically, I should have seen how big the project was getting. I would maybe advise others to do the same. But I would hire Sergio again in a heartbeat. This was the single best renovation experience I have ever had. Their professionalism and quality of their work is outstanding, and I cannot wait until we save enough money to have Sergio renovate our kitchen!! Wholeheartedly recommended. You won't be disappointed.

  • I have noticed he has done a lot of work in my neighborhood. He did not feel that he could do the exterior work that I needed though. There was also some interior painting that I wanted done, so he gave us a quote on that. Unfortunately, I was really looking for the exterior painting to get done. There wasn't anything bad that they had done. Their price was a little on the high side also.
