    Boston Green Renovations
Bob and his team were excellent from the get go. They gave us a very thorough estimate, which rolled into a contract. This provided us with the confidence to go with them. I also read through every single review(Angies, google) of BGR before going with them. Our architect also highly recommended the team. The day to day dealings were very good as well. We have two dogs, and the whole team is dog friendly. We were also pleasantly surprised that at the end of the project we really didn't have to make a hit list and hound them. They fixed all the imperfections without being asked. They are also responsive to changes, and additional tasks we requested. Finally, the best part, they came in on budget. No surprise random 20K problems to deal with. Very happy about this. In all, We would highly recommend this whole team to anyone looking for an honest company, with great people. We attached a picture of the kitchen before the final backsplash was put in.

    Bay State Refinishing & Remodeling
Overall, Bay State Remodeling did a great job. My kitchen/dining room remodel was done in 8 weeks from start to finish. They arrived when they said they were going to and for the most part communicated clearly what would happen when. The only issues with communication occurred during transition from one project manager to another during time out of the office for the primary project manager. David, Marcelo, Eliezer, and Gino worked very hard to ensure that I was happy with the final result, coming back several times as needed to finish everything.

    MA Design & Construction Co
It went really well. They did great quality work and did it in a timely manner. They kept me up to date on their progress and were clear about changes that had to be done to the original estimate and why. They didn't do anything differently without my permission and we always had an extensive conversation about things that came up. They were honest, straightforward, polite, and kind. They listened to my concerns and were patient and open to changing plans (or sticking to original plans). They made me feel like my satisfaction was their priority and did what had to be done to make sure I was happy with their work. And there is no doubt I was happy with their work.

It went very well ! Brian was very helpful in regard to seeing the overall picture of the apartment. He helped me recognize that was I thinking how i would want the portent to be, as opposed to letting the renters customize it themselves.

    Socelvic Co
The project was a disaster. They did demolition on my apartment and did a terrible job of cleaning up. There was debris everywhere and the job site was unsafe and filthy. After demolition, they went away and did no work for 6 weeks. As this was a rental apartment, time was of the essence since I was losing rental income. They didn't seem to care about my schedule. There was very little communication. My calls, texts, and emails were only sporadically answered. Once the work began in earnest, the quality of the workmanship was terrible. They didn't protect my wood floors, so they got all scratched and needed to be refinished. Even though I gave them a detailed spreadsheet of the items to order for the renovation, they ordered and installed the wrong parts. They told me that they could get me a discount off Home Depot prices, but when I saw the purchase order, the prices were actually higher than if I ordered the items myself. They had no consistent crew working on the job, so I had to explain what I needed over and over. Junior Vicente was rarely at the site, so I had to talk directly with workers that spoke little or no English to explain what needed to be done. They put in a sewer vent pipe through the roof of the house and never sealed it off with a boot, so water leaked in through three floors of the house. Drywall was installed with huge gaps between the boards and insufficient nails. Electrical rough work was done even after the rough inspection. Waterproofing placed on shower walls was actually peeling off the wall. They installed tile over the peeling water proofing and unsealed wall boards. They told me that rough inspecions were done and insisted that I pay 80% of the contract value upon rough completion. Unfortunately, I paid it. But the quality of the work was so bad, that I finally had to fire them. I checked in with the building inspector after I fired them, and found out that they had not done the rough inspection after all. They did rough electrical and rough plumbing, but not the building and fireproofing inspection. And they had closed all the walls, which are not supposed to be closed until the building inspection. The inspector required that I rip out all the walls in the bathrooms to inspect. When the walls were removed, we saw that there was insufficient insulation, no firestopping in the pipe chase, cut studs that were not properly reinforced, and no vent piping from the bathroom ventilation units. I had to pay another contractor to do demolition, and then fix all the problems. I had to buy new ventilation units (the ones I had specified in the first place), all new tile (since the tiled walls had to be demolished. I lost thousands of dollars having to fix the mess they made. And to add insult to injury, I tried suing in Small Claims Count and Junior Vicente didn't show up twice when trials were scheduled. Please, please, please DO NOT hire Socelvic. I hope no one has to go through what I just went through.

Jeff Veglia Remodeling & Tile Contracting
We found Jeff and his team friendly and professional throughout, flexible about making the work fit in the budget, and effective at communicating how to optimize. The selection of items like tiles and kitchen counter was not trivial over email and phone, but Jeff worked with us to make sure the components were what we wanted and the design was simple but classy as we requested. Once the work started it was completed efficiently, on budget, and with good attention to detail. If I have any issue, it was that it took several months for the work to start. However, Jeff did warn up front that it would take a while before they could get to our unit, and we wanted to get the kitchen renovation done ASAP, once the work was begun, so the delay was anticipated. If we do any work in the future, Jeff will be my first call.

    United Remodeling
I could go on and on about the quality of their work. The guys were great. They were professional and very thoughtful especially because there was so much work to be done and we live in such a small apartment. They cleaned up everyday after the work day was done. Everyone who visits is amazed at the kitchen. Before United came in, my apartment was the typical 3 family. One long hallway, rooms off the dark hallway, small choppy rooms, dark uninspiring. Now I have an open concept, very NYC style loft. Open, bright, airy and modern. It allows us to spend time with each other as a family in an open floor concept. I love the the vision United had and they implemented it flawlessly! I will hire them again in a heartbeat!

    SILMAC Construction Inc.
Simlac crew put it all back together. We've used them before and the same level of professionalism, responsiveness, flexibility, paying attention to little details to make it work for best price (used some old tiles I had, found a few new ones, so we didn't have to replace the entire floor. Saved a lot since didn't have to remove sink and toilet to do it). I could go on. Joe is the best and the guys who do the work have all been terrific too. Friendly, thoughtful, considerate and care about doing high quality. Can't say enough good things. I've had some bad experience with contractors so I know the best when I see it and this is it.

    80 Sharp St
A year later, I am very disappointed. Places where water naturally goes are clearly not sealed. Under the kitchen table, there are many more marks and scratches than I had expected, especially since we put felt pads on the bottom of the chairs. We moved into this house 16 years ago. The floors in the other parts of the house are still fine. The areas of my kitchen and entry (where Dan's sanded--great job--and refinished--"??????) continue to show more and more wear. I don't think they did a great job, at the very least in communicating. As I stated in my original review, it was an extremely humid summer when the work was done. Yet I don't really think that felt-footed kitchen chairs should scrape off the finish in less than a year, especially since it too about 15-20 years to get the to the point where they needed refinishing. The provider said they would "reevaluate" but I am not sure what that means, especially since they wrote that they can't control how floors are used. Hmm. sounds like a co[-out to me. The floors (including those in the dining room and bedrooms) that Dan's did not do ar still fine, get almost as much wear as the kitchen (which they did do) and yet they were last redone 18+ years ago. Not to mention that the area around the sink is showing dark lines between boards that were not there before. I honestly don't know if it was the humid conditions that caused this. I do know, however, than at kitchen floor should not need re-finishing every year. Again, I was told 2-3 days for drying, waited 8, and then had to come back into my home (the hotels got pretty expensive). I would have preferred using the extra 4-7 days hotel expense on a better job. I know I will probably not get any re-do, or compensation. In the case of wood-floor refinishing in a kitchen/entry, this job did not last. This review is more important than the first one because one always takes a first cosmetic look and is usually pleased. It is the test of time that is important.; I get that it takes longer to "cure" in humidity. But 3x the time should be noted. And even then, I think the finish was not right. My almost 20 year old floors are still great (including in bathrooms). But not he ones Dan's did in 2015.

    Bay State Refinishing & Remodeling

The best recommendation I can give is that they just completed my master bath and I immediately hired them for my guest bathroom! The master bath included a complete demo, with heated floors, a glass shower, and all new fixtures. The entire team is fabulous, went out of their way to accommodate every request (including a difficult condo association) and finished within time and on budget. Our supervisor Yuri is outstanding, and a primary reason we are so satisfied. Darly who did all the tile work is a true artist and all around lovely person. They even did some work on the weekends, and left the space immaculate at the end of each day. They have a full time office staff, and the owner Ray was also responsive to anything we needed. They got all permits, and made sure every single detail was complete before sending the final bill. All around a wonderful experience, which can be pretty rare for contractors!
