  • In the end the work was very good but there were two major points of contention. A few steps were left out. Per our understanding this was included but Dalto did not agree. In the end it cost us $2800 more than another contractor that we could have chosen. Part of the contract was to uninstall and reinstall the railings but it was a sloppy job and they were damaged and then he agreed to get them repaired and refinish them professionally.

  • We have a problem driveway on a hill and around two curves. The first time it didn't dry because of rain afterwards and we probably should have waited longer than the 2 days to drive a vehicle over it. The company, however, scheduled a second treatment and didn't charge us extra, and this came out very well. They were good in communication and knowledgeable in carrying out the project.

  • We did a project (fence, walls, 2 patios, drywell) with Jeff and Masonworks several years ago. The work has held up very well. We contacted Jeff and explained the driveway project. He remembered our property from the prior project and came out to measure and discuss the specifics. We received and accepted a quote shortly thereafter. Masonworks pulled the permits and started work ASAP. The job took about 3 1/2 days from start to finish. It looks great and based on our prior experience, I expect it will hold up well. Jeff, Bruno, Junior and their crew are professional, prompt, do a great job and leave the job site clean. Would use them again and recommend them to anyone.

  • Every part of this transaction was a very high standard of service and execution, including the project planning, the estimate and contracting process.  The job itself was done efficiently with a professional, pleasant, experienced and supervised work team.
We are very pleased with the result.

  • I will start off my review by saying that the work done was very good.  The mason and asphalt paving company used by DiOrio did a great job and were responsive to my questions and requests.  The work was done within a reasonable schedule.  When I had comments or questions, James Kim (my project contact) got back to me right away and always provided good answers to my questions.  While there were some delays on the project, overall the schedule was fine.  The project passed inspection with the Building Inspector.

The reason I gave an overall grade of "C" was because I found them to be very difficult to work with in relation to payment terms.  The project began with them asking me to sign a contract with terms of 1/3 the cost at contract signing, 1/3 at project start and 1/3 at completion.  I thought it was unreasonable (and not within industry standard) to ask for 2/3 of the full project cost before work is started.  We finally agreed to terms of 1/3 at signing, 1/3 after completion of clearly defined milestones, and 1/3 at project completion.  I made my initial payment as we agreed to -- at contract signing.  While work was progressing, I was asked to make my second payment before the agreed upon milestones were reached.  While some other milestones were completed, the value was not equal to what we agreed would result in the next payment.  And when I was asked for payment, there was an implied threat that if I did not make payment, they would not have the funds to get the materials to continue the project.  Then, long before the project was finished I was asked to make a portion of the third payment, which was not required by the contract terms.  In good faith, I agreed to pay a portion of that payment even though I wasn't obligated to do so.  Then a week later, I was asked to leave work early to give yet another partial payment even though the work was still not completed.  When I needed to travel for business, I got a long unpleasant voice mail from the owner Derek saying that his employees had "mouths to feed" and that it wasn't "fair" that I didn't pay them before leaving on my trip.  The work wasn't completed yet!!  And when I returned from my business trip the work was still not completed.  It's not my problem that he doesn't have a line of credit or means of paying his employees and suppliers.  We had an agreement and they kept harassing me to make payments outside of the agreed upon terms.  I found this to be very unprofessional and frustrating.  I paid PROMPTLY when milestones were reached. Their constant harassment for payments outside of the contract terms was unwarranted and unprofessional.

  • My father called James for an estimate, James scheduled a time to come and he came on time for his job estimate, and then gave the job proposal onsite after my father explaining the job to be performed. We had edits to his proposal and job description and James had no problem making those edits and adding it to the proposal.
James and his crew did a great job.  They dug up the old driveway, first paved it with new stones, and then paved it.  Then did a great job re-coating with asphalt around the walkway around our house.
It turned out they damaged our sidewalk with there roller during paving of the driveway; James didn't argue or put up a fuss he came over and fixed this past weekend since the weather allowed for the concrete to dry.
I'm extremely happy with James and Driveway Specialist and would recommend them to anyone.

  • I talked to him at least once in person, and he said he would come by and look at my driveway and leave me a quote. I tried to call multiple times since then, and I have been unable to reach him. He hasn't returned any of my calls. He had my address to come by and look at it.

  • Initial negotiations with Vincent were easy; no hard sell; he was most helpful to us in decision making about what do do; what stones/designs, etc; estimates given were consistent with actual price; no extra charges; |crew was exceptional; work was contingent somewhat upon weather (heat) so took a few days beyond what initial time line was, which was fine; |the work itself and machinery and staging of the whole process was quite fun to watch, rather like a well choreographed ballet. |Crew was respectful of property; cleaned up daily. |Any questions or issues we had were directed to and answered by Vincent |promptly. |

  • Superb! Vince responded immediately to my email, provided an accurate quote within 48 hours of my initial request, and was able to add two and quot;extrasand quot; when requested, at reasonable cost. Very professional team, and excellent final product. Recommend without hesitation.

  • They took a long time to get back to me after my first email. I had a hard time getting information. The arrangement was more complicated than I realized because I learned that they needed two days with no cars on the drive, information not revealed in the deal until I bought it. I had to arrange with the town for parkers to park overnight and let all of the parkers know. The ground was wet in the AM. I had asked what was the plan if it rained but he never told me. No response that AM or all day despite phone calls and email. Still haven't heard from him 3 days later.
