    Phalan Construction & The Handyman
Rob is a pro, a perfectionist well worth every cent. He does not cut corners! He gets right the first time, and has added a lot of value to our home. Everyone who has seen his work cannot believe that he alone did it, and at a bargain price!

Leonardo promptly returned my phone call, showed up at the time promised to look at the job and provided pricing the next day. His pricing is fair and the work is excellent, his crew was friendly and professional throughout the job. Leonardo made sure the job is done right with lot of attention to detail even though I was not living there, and my condo looks like new. He also provided referrals for other electrical, tile and plumbing work, they also did excellent work. Very highly recommended.

    Boston Green Renovations
Bob and his team were excellent from the get go. They gave us a very thorough estimate, which rolled into a contract. This provided us with the confidence to go with them. I also read through every single review(Angies, google) of BGR before going with them. Our architect also highly recommended the team. The day to day dealings were very good as well. We have two dogs, and the whole team is dog friendly. We were also pleasantly surprised that at the end of the project we really didn't have to make a hit list and hound them. They fixed all the imperfections without being asked. They are also responsive to changes, and additional tasks we requested. Finally, the best part, they came in on budget. No surprise random 20K problems to deal with. Very happy about this. In all, We would highly recommend this whole team to anyone looking for an honest company, with great people. We attached a picture of the kitchen before the final backsplash was put in.

Lenny and his associate Steven do a great job. I have had them work on 4 properties of mine in the Boston area and it seems like there is nothing they can't do, and at a very affordable price. Some of the projects they have done for me include: Replacing windows Build new walls to subdivide spaces, move bedrooms/bathrooms Build a 3 story deck Rebuild a wrap around front porch Install cabinetry Install tiles in bathrooms These gentlemen are reliable, communicative, and clean up. I will continue to hire for all of my projects.

It went really well. They did great quality work and did it in a timely manner. They kept me up to date on their progress and were clear about changes that had to be done to the original estimate and why. They didn't do anything differently without my permission and we always had an extensive conversation about things that came up. They were honest, straightforward, polite, and kind. They listened to my concerns and were patient and open to changing plans (or sticking to original plans). They made me feel like my satisfaction was their priority and did what had to be done to make sure I was happy with their work. And there is no doubt I was happy with their work.

The project was a disaster. They did demolition on my apartment and did a terrible job of cleaning up. There was debris everywhere and the job site was unsafe and filthy. After demolition, they went away and did no work for 6 weeks. As this was a rental apartment, time was of the essence since I was losing rental income. They didn't seem to care about my schedule. There was very little communication. My calls, texts, and emails were only sporadically answered. Once the work began in earnest, the quality of the workmanship was terrible. They didn't protect my wood floors, so they got all scratched and needed to be refinished. Even though I gave them a detailed spreadsheet of the items to order for the renovation, they ordered and installed the wrong parts. They told me that they could get me a discount off Home Depot prices, but when I saw the purchase order, the prices were actually higher than if I ordered the items myself. They had no consistent crew working on the job, so I had to explain what I needed over and over. Junior Vicente was rarely at the site, so I had to talk directly with workers that spoke little or no English to explain what needed to be done. They put in a sewer vent pipe through the roof of the house and never sealed it off with a boot, so water leaked in through three floors of the house. Drywall was installed with huge gaps between the boards and insufficient nails. Electrical rough work was done even after the rough inspection. Waterproofing placed on shower walls was actually peeling off the wall. They installed tile over the peeling water proofing and unsealed wall boards. They told me that rough inspecions were done and insisted that I pay 80% of the contract value upon rough completion. Unfortunately, I paid it. But the quality of the work was so bad, that I finally had to fire them. I checked in with the building inspector after I fired them, and found out that they had not done the rough inspection after all. They did rough electrical and rough plumbing, but not the building and fireproofing inspection. And they had closed all the walls, which are not supposed to be closed until the building inspection. The inspector required that I rip out all the walls in the bathrooms to inspect. When the walls were removed, we saw that there was insufficient insulation, no firestopping in the pipe chase, cut studs that were not properly reinforced, and no vent piping from the bathroom ventilation units. I had to pay another contractor to do demolition, and then fix all the problems. I had to buy new ventilation units (the ones I had specified in the first place), all new tile (since the tiled walls had to be demolished. I lost thousands of dollars having to fix the mess they made. And to add insult to injury, I tried suing in Small Claims Count and Junior Vicente didn't show up twice when trials were scheduled. Please, please, please DO NOT hire Socelvic. I hope no one has to go through what I just went through.

We were pleased with all the work done. All the personnel, from the company owners to the crew, were responsive, accommodating and skilled. Calls and emails were returned promptly. They were flexible and fair when unforeseen issues arose. The project took longer than we thought it would because we are in an historical district and didn't know the city would dictate what could and couldn't be done on the roof.

    Pier 3 Builders
Brian's crew did an excellent job. This was a tricky project in that we needed to make adjustments based on what we discovered during demolition (you never know what's behind the walls). Brian's team were friendly and responsive, always erring on the side of over-building rather than cutting corners. I've recommended Pier3 to many of my neighbors doing renovations and roofing projects.

The work went very well, exactly as described in the quote. The work happened on schedule. They clearly communicated what was being done and when it would be completed. Unlike other contractors, they did not harass me for upfront or early payments.

    One Good Carpenter
Jeffrey was simply the most amazing carpenter I have ever come across. He can think through any problem and come up with a variety of solutions to match your price point. His work is exceptionally high quality.  His price is also beyond reasonable. For example, I had two different estimates of close to $2000 to replace the plinths under the columns. Jeffrey did it for about $400.
One of  the other things that I really appreciate about the way he works, is  that he is methodical and tidy. At the end of each day, and in fact during the day, he kept the work area completely usable. No sawdust, no mess left around.
He came up with ingenious solutions to the problems of my sliding doors which have not opened for 20+ years. He took the woodwork apart, did not damage anything, and had them working smoothly in a day and a half.
I appreciated that he was willing to talk through possible solutions to various projects and was not at all interested in just making work for himself. All in all I will finish by saying is highly recommended!
