Chimney Sweeping reviews in Brookline

  • Tim from Master Chimney Sweepers just left. Highly professional, knowledgeable, prompt, courteous. He did not put on a hard sell like so many chimney sweeps. He pointed out work that should take place now, next year, in coming years, and allowed me to make my assessments and decisions. He's the first sweep who gave me a useful schedule to think about for future work. All in all a very positive experience. Tim concrete filled in an ash chute under the fireplace, cleaned the heat and the fireplace flues.

  • Showed up on-time and did a very professional job. Made some recommendations to seal the exterior of the chimney. There was no pressure sales just a careful recommendation. Because of the professionalism, I had him also look at the heating system. He cleaned the ducts and inspected the air handlers. I highly recommend Superior.

  • This is a top notch company had a problem with my chimney and was told by 3 different companies that it could not be fixed,5 Star came and not only did he tell me he could fix it but he gave me 2 options on how to do it. He gave me a fair quotes and came in and did the work quickly and cleanly needless to say my problem is fix for a fair price.

  • Fabulous service.  They were on time and very professional.  I have had my chimney cleaned before and smoke was still coming out of it so I called them to find out what the problem was.  They cleaned it and a huge amount of soot came down from the chimney.  I was so happy.  Thank you.

  • Kevin and his sidekick are one of the top Chimney guys in the business. I recently purchased a two story house and the chimney was loose at the top. Masonry companies were quoting between $1900 and $3500 depending on how far down they would have to go and rebuild back up. Kevin came in with an estimate of $1900 and we added a tear out of the original damper and put in an integrated damper-spark arrestor at the top. He tore it down below the roof line and built it back up with re-bar reinforcement, the total came out to $2100 and he completed it in a day and a half with great communication on his progress at each stage. They were very informative and checked with my kids to make sure of finances before any of the work was complete that was amazing, Call them for any fireplace reconfiguration (involving brick) or full chimney builds.

  • They are very professional, customer service was very responsive, price was fair, technician was very polite and punctual, he also cleaned up the flue not being used anymore for free. Would recommend them without reservation.

  • They did both jobs efficiently & within the time frame they spirited. The before & after pictures allowed us & see the work that needed to be done & then what it looked like at completion (big improvement). This was very helpful because we can’t get up there to see it.

  • Punctual, professional, and thorough.  Father and son team were friendly, careful with furniture, rug, hearth, etc., and meticulous--they did the previous sweep of our stove/chimney flue, and I will hire them again, without hesitation, when needed.

  • Arranging a time went well, and, as far as I know, they swept the chimney competently.
They provided a detailed report of the chimney liner and a few other things, and indicated that
the liner (which was new within a bit over a year, when we converted to a gas burner from oil) was the
wrong diameter and "compressed" and maybe not intact.  They did indicate that perhaps the inspector
had approved it, and to check that out.  We did, and also consulted with the company that did the
gas furnace conversion, and used a reputable vendor to install a new chimney liner).
We learned that the diameter of a liner is calculated now in a way that the chimney sweep company is not using.
The inspector in our town indicated he'd never heard of this company, and assured us that the liner installed was correct and had been inspected appropriately.  Our furnace conversion company provided very detailed information about the proper way to calculate
the diameter of a chimney liner, which puts ours well within the diameter needed for our furnace. Our furnace company also
indicated that the chimney sweep company was using outdated methods to calculate liner diameter.
Bottom line: It was a little unsettling to get the written report with descriptions of "problems," all of which
the Complete Chimney Service company would fix, of course, for a price, when, in fact, according to two
reliable sources/experts (very reputable furnace company and town inspector) there are no such problems
    with our chimney liner.

  • It went great except I felt like nothing was done.  I could have light some paper inside the chimney myself and observe the smoke.  That is not what i expected, i expected a chimney sweep, where someone would actually clean it physically or look at it inside to see if it is safe to use the chimney.  I have an old chimney.  The price was great, if the work was done properly.
Another issue i had was scheduling.  There are no choices from few dates to pick from.  I was given one date and time frame, either I take it or wait another month or so. That is OK, i understand they are busy, so i work around my schedule and took time off from work to be home.  No one showed up, not even a phone call to warn me or say sorry, until i complained to Angie's list.
From that point, i thought about cancelling them and go with someone else, but they convinced me to give it another chance, big mistake.
