Everything is done lovingly and carefully and methodically. Nothing at all gets in the way of Barbara's services to dogs.

    Elder Resources
Emily was very professional and responsive from start to finish. She is very practical and avoids focusing excessively on everyone's emotional responses to the situation, which helped us do what we needed to do. Emily has lots of experience in many kinds of situations involving compromised elderly people. It was invaluable to have someone advise us so specifically about something so difficult, knowing she had seen very similar situations through successfully with other families in the past. Emily's services are self-pay and expensive, but worth every penny. She charges like an attorney, for all services (calls, emails, etc.) provided.

    Thomas W. Dorrance LICSW
Tom has always been professional, reliable, supportive and very insightful. He is the only therapist I have ever seen who could regularly identify and bring out into the open exactly the most important underlying elements of my condition. I have worked hard with Tom, and I know that he is responsible for my current state - happy, successful, and completely free of depression. I recommend Tom very highly.

    Mount Auburn Counseling Center
I have been seeing Kyle as a Therapist off and on for about 25 years (wow, hard to believe!)... I first saw her when I graduated college and then here and there as things have come up in life that needed tending to. At one point I was living in Plymouth but I would still drive to Cambridge to have a visit or two with her. I have always found Kyle to be very insightful and sincerely very caring, always leaving me with the feeling that I am glad she is my therapist and have made that connection with her. I have even gone for long gaps of not seeing her, sometimes as long as 10 years and the amazing thing is, when we've gotten together again, its like I saw her yesterday and I am always amazed at the things that she remembers, even the small things. I had an instance a few years ago where I had to get some help for a relative and a call to Kyle was the first one I made and she gave me the names of people to get in touch with to get my relative the help they needed. I can't say enough good things about her.

    Carbone, Mia L.
A Mia Carbone. A friend told me about Mia and how she help her relationship. The first time I met Mia she was warm and make me feel immediately welcomed. I knew she was the right therapist for me! She helped me and my marriage. She asked the right questions and made sense. We are both grateful she was able to see us. The knew things about me way before I told her. She is intuitive and listens very well. If you want a therapist that really cares about you and is able to help, contact Mia Carbone!

I started seeing Kyle when I was going through a really rough time. During this period I would feel very overwhelmed at times, Kyle helped me focus and prioritize and get my life back on track. She has also helped me gain a sense of confidence which has allowed me to start a new career and begin dating again. I would highly recommend Kyle to anyone seeking a therapist.

    Howard Yaffe
I came to Howard for help during a stressful time (a complicated move back to my hometown, supporting elderly parents). I'd had good experiences with group therapy, and thought that a group would be supportive and helpful during the transition - and Howard runs therapy groups at Brookline MHC. My move commenced sooner than anticipated, so we agreed to work together individually. I was chronically angry, and had no close friends. Having stumbled through the move in fairly good shape, we agreed to expand our goals to focus on personal growth. It seemed like our work suddenly moved into high gear. I feel as if Howard has helped me "find" and know my feelings (as a 53 year old), that through our relationship, I'm learning what closeness between two people can be, peeling away guardedness and distrust, finding joy. He's not much for explaining how things work, you'll experience and (hopefully) learn first hand. He's given me a glimpse that there's more to me, more to my relationships, more to life, than I ever knew - and that therapy isn't about getting fixed, or being normal, it's about opening yourself to life, and finding what makes you happy. It's been a great journey and adventure. I can't believe that there are many therapists out there who have his depth and capability. I worked with several, years ago, and really didn't expect to get much help from a therapist, maybe some support - but not a whole world! He's psychodynamic in orientation - but I think he'd meet you wherever you are. From my experience, he's great with the emotionally stunted (like the chronically angry) - and I'll bet - sullen and wary teenagers. If you don't really know who you are, or love your relationships and work, there's help to be had - reach for it, and hang in there. 9/10/11 - Howard is no longer at the Brookline Center.  He still has an office in Brookline, and also Framingham and Burlington.
