Carpet Installation reviews in Belmont

  • Very smooth process. All aspects of the job were explianed in advance and th ejob followed the plan. The few hiccups that took place with inspections and piping were all handled with consultation and no extra cost! Very clean and respecful workers. A quality product all around.

  • Outstanding service. The first time we called, Paul immediately ordered a sample of the rug I was interested in to our home. When I decided to order it, he literally came over that same day to measure (within an hour!). His installation team was early (!), and extraordinarily professional. They did not put a single ding in our walls - something our own cleaning ladies can't seem to manage. They were eager to do the job, never balked at the work and in the end our stairs are a "wow factor!" now. They even brought the custom rug we ordered after we placed the order for the stairs. We liked them so much, we had them do 2 additional sets of stairs. For this, we bought remnants and Paul gave us a great price. Once again, the delivery and installation was as excellent as the first time. After doing a home renovation and literally having nearly everything have something go wrong, it was so refreshing to work with Elfmans and Paul and have such a fantastic experience. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again!

  • Quickly. However, too quickly. Before the 2nd+3rd coats of poly were applied, Robert didn't clean the paint and other debris off the floor completely. He returned to buff them out using 50 grit paper followed by a 4th coat of poly, no charge. It was satisfactory but the results would had been better had the mistake not been made.

  • The two carpet layers were very pleasant and worked diligently to install the carpet.  They did a nice job on the stairway which posed some unexpected difficulties.  They also took the best piece of the old carpeting and installed it in my large closet for a small amount of labor cost ($100), saving me money in the long run.

  • I worked with Pam and she was wonderful.  She came to the house for a detailed estimate at a convenient time for us.  She came with samples and I chose right then and there.  The order took some time but came in correctly.  The day of the installation, it took a little extra time due to some uncovered water damage - which the installers took care of and I was charged fairly for.  They were careful about nails, as I have kids and pets.  I know it took extra time and they were very polite and professional.  I would definitely use Bradford Carpet in the future.

  • Our store visits were great. The owners and their employees are very friendly. There was always someone available to answer questions, and they were also happy to let us look by ourselves if that's what we needed. They helped us look at carpet samples outdoors in the natural light. They answered questions about materials, wear and tear, cleaning instructions, installation, life of products, what materials are good for high-traffic rooms or high-moisture rooms, and even how to measure an area rug in a unique oval shape around the dining room table. They thought of everything, including how far away from the table a rug should cover so that chair legs aren't caught on it while pulling chairs out/pushing them in to sit/stand.  They were punctual for the delivery and the two installations. The basement floor leveling took longer than expected, so they called in extra workers and stayed late that evening to guarantee they finished that day. They were understanding when we had to delay the rug delivery due to the floor sander's schedule. We will definitely be returning to Waltham Floor for carpeting in at least one more room and two stair cases.

  • We had AJ Rose (who was recommended by a contractor) install carpet in our basement, up the basement stairs and in 2 rooms. We also purchased wood flooring from them at this time and had it installed. They have a nice showroom with a good selection to choose from. Unfortunately, the installers did not seal the seams on the carpet, so when we vacuumed, lines of carpet ripped up-- in 3 separate places. We called AJ Rose and was told our "beater bar" was too low on our vacuum (by several different people), and that this caused the problem. Fast forward 2 years. We were thinking about having carpet replaced on another stairway, so I purchased the big deal from them. I got an estimate that seemed a little high based on my own measurements, though stairs are hard to measure. I also had them measure and give me an estimate on replacing the carpet that got ripped up in the basement. Again, the measurements were on the high side-- one room is 12' x 12', but their measurements made it 14' x 15' because of the entry way and small closet. Sure, there might be an extra small piece of carpet needed for those, but the other numbers (such as removal and padding) are all based on that. So we were being charged to remove more carpet than we had, and so on. All the numbers seemed to go in their favor. I didn't have them do the stairs, but I did have them fix the room with the ripped up seams since they had the carpet that matched the rest of the basement. The installer (who was great) was the one who told me that the seams had never been sealed in the first place. I feel like the AJ Rose salesmen should have admitted that this could have been the problem originally-- apparently they have to fix it if it's within the first 2 years, but I had the original work done in August of 2009 and this was October of 2011, so I was out of luck. I ended up paying $750 to fix a small room and I still have to live with the other seam (in a larger room) that I have to hide with a throw rug. And I can't vacuum the larger room without worrying more seams will rip. Also, they couldn't seem to get our phone numbers correct-- they called my husband's work cell twice after I told them not to bother him. Were they trying to deal with him instead of me? It was strange.

  • Elfman's proposal was significantly less expensive than the competing proposal we obtained.
Elfman's salesman ("Contract Manager") Fred Richard was responsive, helpful, prompt, and efficient; and he communicated well at every stage.  A significant snowstorm occurred the night before and continued in the morning when our installation had been scheduled.  Mr. Richard called us the afternoon before to warn us that the installation might have to be postponed; that night, he called to say that it would be postponed; and, in the morning, he rescheduled it for the next morning.
The next morning, Elfman's installers arrived on time.  They were polite, efficient, careful, neat, and clean.  They were good about moving and replacing four items of furniture that had been too heavy and/or bulky for us to remove from the room.  Six hours later, when they announced that they had finished, I walked around slowly and inspected every inch.  I was unable to find anything wrong -- which is unusual, because I am more critical than most people.  They had vacuumed thoroughly, too.
Bottom line:  We were very pleased.  We would not hesitate to patronize Elfman's again, and we recommend them highly.

  • They were a nightmare.  They were horrible.  We had a problem with a flood in the downstairs, and we called them in.  It was just a pain.  They weren't like the commercial at all.  This was before we had Angie's List.  Once we looked them up online, we found a lot of complaints about them.  My husband found them.  He said he would take care of it; I don't know why he chose them.  The salesman was very nice, but everything fell apart after that.

  • Based on information in Angie's List, I brought an antique, badly worn but nonetheless prized Heriz rug with one large hole and several small holes in for repair. When I first entered the shop I had expected to see some antique rugs and was concerned that only new rugs were on display. David, the proprietor, looked over the rug carefully, noting its poor condition. He indicated that the rug should be cleaned, and said that his repair people, who were not then in the shop, would do their best to repair it, and that he would attempt to find a suitable patch for the large hole. His projected cost of $500 (after applying an Angie's List discount for the cleaning, which I hadn't known about) seemed reasonable, and I was reassured by his seeming conscientiousness. The end result was more than satisfactory. David had gone to the trouble of searching out and locating from one of his contacts a remnant to use as a patch for the large hole that closely matched not only the colors and pattern of the rug, but also the weave, which because of the rug's worn condition was plainly visible. The small holes were repaired and reinforced with burlap backing.
