  • This was a fantastic experience.  Tom returned my call promptly and came out within a few days to do an estimate.  I showed him a few pictures of what we were thinking; he discussed stone types and their pros and cons, particularly with regard to cost.  He communicated with me regularly about the expected start date and came out a few days before the start of the work to go over the project with us.  The work started Monday morning and was complete by Tuesday; he checked in to see if we were satisfied with the final project.  It looks amazing, and exactly like what we had envisioned.  I would recommend him without hesitation - first quality work, attention to detail and regular communication throughout the process.  If only every contractor was like this!!

  • Leo Jordao, president of Fieldstone Pros is very attentive to your needs and very professional with explaining the various wall types. For the estimate portion of the work, he came prepared with photos of many of their past projects that showed the various types of stone work they are capable of performing. The scheduled start date was pushed back two days as they were finishing up a project that had grown in the scope of work at the last minute as requested by the client. Leo kept in contact with us the entire time, giving us updates on when he expected to start our project. A BIG PLUS in my book, as communication is key to a good relationship between contractor and client. The first crew to come in demolished the existing retaining walls and concrete stair, excavated the trench for both walls and backfilled the trenches with compacted crushed stone as a foundation for the fieldstone walls. All excavated and demolition materials were loaded on a truck and hauled away that same day. New materials for the fieldstone walls were delivered and staged in a professional manner, and the driveway was broom cleaned before they left for the day. A new crew of masons arrived the next day and set about the task of constructing the fieldstone walls. Care was always taken to protect adjacent property and driveway surfaces as much as possible. This crew worked 10 hour days minimum and always left the premises organized and areas broom clean at the end of the day. Additional materials arrived as needed and in a timely fashion as they continued work during the four days that it took to complete the project. Once finished, all excess materials were hauled away and new loam was brought in to repair the lawns where the stockpiled materials had been placed. They also cut back the irregular edges of the asphalt driveway adjacent to the new walls to create a straight edge and installed new asphalt at these location to provide the final finished surface against the fieldstone walls. Each day this crew worked Leo would show up to make sure I was satisfied with the progress and craftsmanship of the work, and give direction when necessary. The craftsmanship of both walls and stairs is very good and I continue to get compliments from strangers driving by and stopping to say how nice the completed project looks. The only part of the project that I believe did not receive the professional attention deserved is a small concrete sidewalk extension between the existing sidewalk and the new bluestone step. The top surface was just broom finished without using an edging tool to round the four sides of the pour to prevent hairline cracks between the new bluestone step and existing concrete sidewalk, and to create a finished edge surface to match the existing sidewalk. Perhaps a small matter in the overall context. However, I believe all portions of the construction should be performed with the best craftsmanship. That being said, I am still very pleased with the overall quality of the fieldstone walls, craftsmanship and professionalism of the tradesmen and Leo, and would recommend Fieldstone Pros.

  • It turned pretty good. They stuck to the contract where very professional. Working with him on a second project already. A little pricey. We were going to shop around because the quote appeared to be more than it needed to be. He needs to be be little bit better of a listener. He discusses things thoroughly. Unless you repeat your self he may not hear what you are saying. I would say it is important to make sure the smaller details are listened to. He is very friendly, thorough and punctual. He is very good about giving us after care instructions.

  • I got 2 quotes, they were able to start 4 weeks before the other quote and were a bit less.  They came in and got the job done in a little more than a week.
