After having to reschedule due to rain, the work was done. The crew was professional and meticulous. The driveway looks great. My neighbor had his done a few days before me and the difference in quality and workmanship compared to my driveway were dismal.

Poor customer service. Does not return phone calls or emails. Never kept us up-to-date on delays or if and when we were on the schedule. Waited over 2 months to get our driveway done. Still not done no longer using them. Unless you have months to wait would not recommend. Completely understand the rain was a large factor in the delay but rain does not affect phone calls and emails.

Removal of old asphalt, sod and sinkhole excavation: Removal of old asphalt driveway. -went well. Removal of sod for the expansion of driveway. -went well. Excavation/inspection of sink hole. -went well. Found a couple of larger rocks, not known what had caused the sinkhole. The sinkhole area was filled in. The rest of the driveway and the area where the sod had been removed, was only 3 inches deeper than the surrounding surfaces. I had requested to excavate deeper to have a thicker sub base. The foreman stated that they only dig deeper if they think it needs it. The base from the old driveway was good enough. In the contract it states "remove any unneeded or insufficient sub-base, haul away and dispose (depth of up to 12 inches as needed)" . I walked around the driveway area and found several tips of large rocks (8 + inches in diameter) sticking out, I took a shovel and exposed the rocks further so the workers could see them. The quantity of gravel that was brought to the site was minimal in my opinion. The gravel was laid out very thin in some areas of the driveway. I was told that I could use the driveway with the gravel in place until the scheduled asphalt delivery/installation. Just walking over the gravel it moved, so I chose to not use the driveway in fear of making holes/tire tracks. Installation of asphalt: I spoke with the foreman when they arrived. Stated my disappointment with the other crew on the preparation of the sub-base. He stated that it looked good and he doesn't have anything to do with the other foreman and other crew. The asphalt was laid down and compacted. I asked the foreman why the top edges of the asphalt were lower than the walkways. He stated that it was a good thickness, but if I wanted he would build it up. The asphalt part of the job was well done. The sub-base preparation and applied gravel was very disappointing. This was no accident in my opinion, the gravel truck had a small quantity of gravel. I am hoping the driveway lasts for many years. Hind site: I would have requested for a minimum required depths of all the material to be noted in the contract. I paid $1000 more to this contractor than the other contractor estimate, thinking of the higher customer ratings on Angie's List.

    Gold Lion Paving

Owner Gary and Gold Lion are horrible.  He acknowledged a poor job and agreed to fix it.  That was nearly 2 years ago. A couple of hundred calls later (I wish I were kidding--but I'm really persistent), and the problem is still there.  With all the broken promises and out-right lies, I have no idea how he sleeps at night.  Now, I will pursue small claims court (I told you I'm persistent).  Besides small claims, I have to fix my relationship with two neighbors that I referred to Gold Lion, as they too are VERY unhappy.  We all plan to take him to court.  Free advise: don't hire them.

arrived on time.We had to reschedule a couple of times due to weather. Great job with seal coating. Noticed a few days after it was sealed and cured that an area at the top of the driveway did not take. He was prompt in returning my call and we will be rescheduling this spring for resealing. would recommend to others and would use agian!

Short version:  Came home to my driveway resealed and "Do Not Cross" yellow tape in front of the driveway via two wooden stakes well secured into the ground.  Very little overspray into the grassy area's surrounding my driveway too!

Longer version:  Noticed a resealing deal from this company on Angie's List, did some research about the company via this website and arranged for them to come by and see if my driveway fell into their parameters for the quoted price - it was just a tad bit longer and cost me a little more, but it was extremely reasonable.  During the process, the folks at New Mark kept me informed of the current status via regular messages on Angie's List.  No fault of the company, but I was never notified via an alert to my personal email account about some of the messages.  I was forced to reschedule this appointment for the actual resealing of my driveway and New Mark was courteous and responsive in accommodating my needs.  Overall a truly no-hassle experience and look forward to having them come back in a few years.

    JOHNSON PAVING
Great to work with from initial estimate and quote to final cleanup. Estimate was fair and reasonable with everything clearly defined and explained. Rachael Johnson in the office was very informative and helpful in setting up the date and time of the work and was flexible to our schedule. Workers showed up 15-20 minutes prior to scheduled time of commencement. Owner is very and quot;hands onand quot; and supervised and worked along with the crew who were all very professional and hard working from the time they got there until they left. Whole job only took about four hours! These guys know their stuff and make the job look easy. They obviously know what they are doing and were fast and efficient yet very careful of our yard and home. I was especially worried about a brand new sprinkler system I had installed just a week prior to the driveway job with sprinkler heads and underground hosing just inches form the driveway. No problem! They are surgeons with their heavy equipment and didn't bother a thing. The driveway was pitched to allow the rain to drain off properly and the driveway came out great....They cleaned up nicely afterward and hauled all the old driveway and asphalt away...Couldn't be more pleased...There are outfits that might do the job cheaper, but try these guys instead...You won't be disappointed. I give them a thumbs up, and quot;Aand quot; rating, 5 out of 5 stars...

I had called to set up an estimate and left a message. Gary called me back within twenty minutes and was at my house approximately 2 hours later giving me and estimate. He stated he could do the job that upcoming weekend on Saturday. The crew showed up Saturday morning and got right to work and were done in about an hour or so. They were very careful and even used a paint brush in some areas to prevent spillover onto the walkways. Gary recommended a second coat since this was the first application and I agreed. He was back the next day at noon to put on the second coat. The driveway looks great.

    Affordable Home Works
I thought they did a great job. I did it myself several years ago. It took me all day, and I wound up throwing away everything I wore to do the job. They were very punctual. $50 extra was needed because of the number of cracks at the end of the driveway which was fair. The end result looked great. I would use them again.

The job isn't quite done yet, but so far, so good. I hired this company because of the reviews I read here, on Angie's list. I called my insurance company and showed them the estimate. They were very surprised at how reasonable the price was.

They have been extremely kind and understanding of my situation, as well. (Fighting with Tow Company over the damage.)

If I have any problems, as they complete the work, I will update this review.

Their staff has been a pleasure to deal with.
