    Moody Optical Co., Inc.
A few months ago, my four-year-old daughter needed glasses and we took the prescription to Moody Optical. They did a great job of fitting her with frames that she liked and making sure that she received only the polycarbonate lenses. They accepted our eye insurance and gave us the expected discounts, and we received the new glasses by the promised date.
Then my daughter intentionally snapped her glasses in half across the bridge a couple weeks later, so I brought them to Moody Optical for replacement. They made use of the warranty and only charged us ~$15 for the replacement glasses. They gave us the broken pieces of the old frames and wisely recommended that we keep them.
A month later, my daughter accidentally twisted one joint on the frames while playing outside, but Moody Optical was able to replace that joint with one of the joints we'd saved from the first pair of glasses, and only charged us $6 to do the repair, which took them about 20 minutes to complete.
A couple months after that, the other joint broke while she was playing, and Moody Optical was once again able to fix it for only $6.
The frames are fairly sturdy but not too heavy, and my daughter happy to wear her glasses all the time. We've been very pleased with Moody Optical's product (despite all the breaks, it seems like normal wear to us, given our daughter's high activity level), and especially with their excellent repair history.
We will definitely continue going to them for our daughter's glasses in the future, and we parents plan to begin going to Moody Optical for our own next pairs of glasses.

    Vision Associates
After checking on the prices at the major retail stores, I found that their prices were the most reasonable. They did not try to sell me options that I did not need and in fact pointed out superfluous features that were "recommended" by the name brand retail lens stores.

The optometrists were very knowledgeable and took time to adjust my glasses correctly.

They even applied  the discount for new eyeglasses from my health plan, that I was not aware.

    Richard Blocker MD
Dr. Blocker is just fantastic! He came out to get us at the agreed-upon time for our appointment, so there was no waiting. He was easily one of the best doctors I've ever seen at establishing rapport with a young child! He and my daughter got on really well together and she let him shine all sorts of lights in her eyes and put funny glasses on her and she was laughing and pointing at things and generally enjoying herself, which was a relief considering that she'd been having a temper tantrum in the hallway on the way into the office. :)
He explained what was happening with each step of the exam, his office was equipped with all sorts of things to keep her entertained and engaged while he performed the exam, and he made both my daughter and I completely comfortable, even going so far as to have a "treasure chest" of little toys that she could pick from once the exam was over. The treasure chest kept us both occupied for the few minutes at the end when he was writing up his report. He sent a copy to her pediatrician and gave me a copy, and he gave me clear instructions for what to look for next in her symptoms and what the follow-up should be.
I was absolutely delighted with this visit!

My original prescription turned out to be incorrect for me, but Visionworks did complete the glasses exactly as prescribed. ( I verified this with another provider.) After returning with a corrected prescription within the guarantee period, Visionworks replaced them, no hassle at all. I even changed frames, (paying the difference in the two frames). Both times, the finished glasses were completed in less than the promised time. The hours and store location made it convenient. The price seemed very reasonable, and they actively looked for additional discounts I could be offered.

    Stephen Belmonte MD
I've been seeing Dr. Belmonte for over six years and my overall experience has been positive.  Even though I am young (mid-30s), I have congenital cataracts and my eyes show one symptom of glaucoma, even though I don't actually have glaucoma.  I'm been appreciative of his active monitoring of both of these conditions.  Dr. Belmonte has clearly communicated what he's been seeing in my eyes and I plan to continue to keep seeing him.
My one complaint is that his office does not accept credit cards, so I cannot pay using the credit card linked to my Flexible Spending Account.

    Chan, Dr. Connie W.
Dr. Sehizadeh gave me the most thorough eye examination I have ever had. Throughout the process she was very patient and helpful in her explanations. I found that she probed deeply about any visual problems I was having and was persistent in making sure that my optical prescription was absolutely correct for my new lenses. She also clearly explained the options I have for further improving my sight. I found her to be efficient, highly skilled and committed to providing the highest quality eye care.

    State Street Eye Health Associates
I've been seeing Dr. Chesnick for a few years now, and I've been pretty happy with State Street Eye Health. The location is pretty good, I can get there pretty easily during my lunch break for an appointment, and I've found that I'm always in and out in an hour or less. I have pretty bad eyesight, so it's important for me to be regular about checkups.
I also get my glasses and contacts directly from State Street, and find the pricing to be better than online or other retailers, so that's good. They also have a machine that can photograph the inside of your eye directly, which gives better results and also avoids having to have your pupils dilated, which is a huge plus. It's a little expensive (around $35 if I recall correctly), but to me, it's worth it. Having your pupils dilated is the worst.
Dr. Chesnick is a nice guy, friendly and business-like in his approach. He does a great job explaining everything that he's looking at with your eyes and gives, in my experience, a very accurate estimation of your eyesight. Hard to ask for more than that!

    Vision Care Specialists
After a thorough online search and in-person visits to vision care providers in MetroWest Boston, I chose Vision Care Specialists for my new frame and progressive lenses based on quality of service and reasonable prices. I worked with Lisa at Vision Care Specialists and found her to be very friendly, competent and patient. She was very precise in measuring for proper alignment of the new progressive lenses and kept me informed about their arrival from the vendor who prepared the lenses. When she discovered that the lens for one eye was not exactly correct, she had the lens re-done. This new lens arrived quickly and was installed in the frame so that I could wear the eyeglasses for an important family event.
