    Paraiso Construction
Roberto was great: very happy with the speed, quality of work, and responsiveness. Also, during the initial project discussion Roberto provided couple of very good ideas/options to consider. Will definitely use Paraiso in the future.

    Paraiso Construction
We used Roberto from Paraiso Construction to do work in my fathers 2 family house in Arlington. He was professional and consciences in the work that he performed. Since then we have requested that he performed other jobs for us. Hes our go to guy whenever we need something fixed or replaced. Based on our own experiences, I Highly recommend Roberto and his company.

    HAMMOND DELEADING & CONSTR INC
Kamm and his crew did an excellent job. The woodwork was scraped or replaced, and it looked better than before the work was done. They gave me a fair quote for the extent of the work needed, showed up on schedule to start the job, finished on time, and the house passed the re-inspection the first time. I would definitely recommend this company.

S E Sorensen Building and Remodeling
S.E.Sorensen is the best contractor by far, that I have used in my 24 years of home improvement projects. I only wish I had found them earlier. Scott Sorensen was phenomenal. His prices were reasonable; he was always pleasant, and extremely trustworthy. I was under severe time constraints, due to insurance coverage to get the project completed. Scotts team worked 7 days a week to ensure my deadline was met. The end product far exceeded my expectations! I would highly recommend S.E. Sorenson to anyone considering a home project.

We hired Ed to build a 2-story addition (family room + office) to our 90 year old home. We had atleast 2 other estimates but the difference with Ed was he gave us a clear breakdown of all the components and what each stage of the work would cost. Whislt his estimate was not cheap, we liked the fact that the estimate had the details of the materials he said he would use. The project is now complete and we can gladly say that we have been happy chappies throughout. The best part through the process has been top notch communication. The best way to get int touch with Ed is via email and he responds very very promptly. All stages of the work have proceeded smoothly despite it being frigid cold....from excavation to framing to electrical to HVAC to all the carpentry. Ed's management of timeline is excellent and his crew have always stuck to that timeline. They arrive on time and get on the job right away. I especially want to say that Ed's carpentry crew is very accomplished. We would definitely recommend Ed to anyone who is thinking of a complex project like an addition

    CALLAHAN CONSTRUCTION
    Overall -
    Pros
Their work is superb - they are all very detail oriented.
Very easy to get engineer specs.
He and his crew were always available before and during the project, to answer questions or address concerns.
Crew was great and kept a clean site - they even watered the roses and lavender
Worked VERY WELL with neighbors - We had a difficult situation with neighbors and Bill was able to put everyone at ease.
    Finished quality is amazing
    Cons
It took longer than we wanted to get started and this was due to his busy schedule. (Though I understand why he is so busy.)
Bill is, self professed, not good with technology. Which means we couldn't arrange for an electronic payment, other than that it wasn't a big deal. He responds to text and email no problem. They take lots of pictures.

    D & J CONSTRUCTION
Work is continual and ongoing and amazing to watch.  They've already reconverted our Master Bathroom, improved the Guest Bathroom, have been building an incredible extension porch onto our home, will be helping with our kitchen renovations, basically they've been here working on one thing or another for months, and they are just amazing.  AMAZING.

    NICK PORTNOY BUILDERS
We had used this contractor before, so we were fairly confident that all would go well.  We were not disappointed.  The bathroom is off the central hallway.  We needed access to the hallway to get upstairs to the other bathroom, and this was done with no problem.  A plastic zipper  wall was put up to contain the dust.
Nick came daily to see how the job was going, often doing some of the work himself. When he felt that the framing for the medicine cabinet was a bit too high, he had it lowered.  He was able to find us more storage space as part of the shower structure.  It is almost like a hidden closet .  They also did a beautiful job on the woodwork and wainscoting.
Nick always comes when a subcontractor is working to make sure the job is done right.   He lets us know when there is any issue and the proposed solution to the issue.
We have had many compliments on the bathroom, and we are very pleased with it.
Nick always listens to our ideas and manages to accommodate.   He has great ideas and solutions himself which have worked very well for us.

    DesignWorks Company
I needed to remodel my bathroom due to a spongy floor and a cracked alcove porcelain tub. I got several quotes and Paul Keating's was in the middle. I chose Paul since he had excellent reviews online and his references were extremely positive. Since I live in a condo, I was concerned that the work might affect my neighbors but Paul made sure to coordinate work and approvals with my condo manager which saved me the hassle of being caught in the middle. Paul and his partner Jim showed up every day and made noticeable progress every day and kept me up to date on status mostly through e-mails (which is Paul's preferred communication method). During the three weeks that they worked, I chatted with my neighbors and they were complimentary on the cleanliness of their work and consideration of the neighbors. The final resulting bathroom is solid and beautiful and if there are any problems in the future, Paul offered a 5 year warranty on any workmanship issues.
My only complaint is with last minute price changes after signing the contract. A week before he was scheduled to start work, Paul apologized and said he would need to raise the price $1500 since he never got the okay on his price estimate from his plumber. When it was time for the final payment, he discovered a spreadsheet error and that also cost me several hundred dollars over the quoted price. Regarding pricing, Paul did some additional work that needed to be done but was unforseen (lack of existing duct-work attached to the ventilation fans) and additional requests from me (adding a new vent fan to the downstairs bath) which I thought were charged fairly.
Despite my irritation with pricing, my key priority was getting quality bathroom and having a conscientious contractor who let me know what was going on and was prompt in answering any questions that I had. I would definitely consider using Design Works in the future.

    Thomas Buckborough Associates
The conceptual design process started off well.  Thomas listened to our wishes and concerns and came up with designs that would meet our needs -- with one major exception.   We were very clear about our budget when we first met, and then after we hired him and throughout the project discussions.  He never once suggested that our budget was inadequate.  However, when it came time to review the investment estimates for his designs, his estimates were DOUBLE our stated budget amount.  When we asked him why the estimates were so far beyond our budget, his answer was that this was the cost of kitchen renovations in the Boston area.  First of all, if he had communicated any of this early on in the process, we never would have hired him for the concept design project (a wasted $1,200).  Secondly, we have since talked with other kitchen remodel / design professionals who have confirmed that our budget is in fact reasonable and the project can easily be done within this price range.
