    Firestone Complete Auto Care
    When I returned to pick up my car, they told me my brakes needed an immediate $967.05 repair (they put this in writing). Both the rep and a mechanic came out to speak with me. They told me my brakes were "completely rusted out," and that the right rear brake was not gripping at all. They said the car was not safe to drive, and I should have the work done immediately. Instead I took the car to my local Ford dealer (the car is a 2013 C-Max), They did a thorough inspection and told me there is absolutely nothing wrong with the brakes: no rust, no malfunction, and there is at least 50% wear remaining. I have been a customer of this Firestone store for many years. However, this action was clearly fraudulent, and I will not return. I phoned the Firestone manager to inform him of the incident.

    I never had the work done as I feel they weren't honest with me, when I got there the manager/owner approached the car, they were trying to over sell me for a service I didn't need. I waited too long for the service and decided not to go with them. There was no prices on the board.

    Mechanic quickly diagnosed what I thought could have been a major problem as some clamps that became loose as a result of low quality parts used by the manufacturer. No charge for the service or the parts. Excellent experience.

    I discovered Pelham Auto after recommendations from colleagues.  I've had very good experience for the last year or so.  Honest service and reasonable price.  Been in for about six service visits for a variety of fixes from $50 to $1,200 but I know they steered me right.  They get busy at times so plan around it.

    When I called the first time I was quoted 254.00 a tire and was given a number for a junk yard where I might find a spare set of wheels for the snow tires. Because there are no steel wheels for my car and the price was too high for new ones, I called back to ask about them putting the tires on/off fall and spring. Same guy then found tires each nearly 100.00 cheaper, saying they were just as good. Why did I not hear about these the first time?
    When they put the tires on, it took nearly two hours, even though I had called ahead about a good time to go in. Then they overinflated the front tires, though the recommended settings are posted right on the door, and my tire pressure light went and stayed on even though I tried to reset it. Had to return and wait again for them to figure out this was the problem and reduce the pressure to what is appropriate for this car. Rather annoying.
    Now looking for tires for my son, not sure I'll use them again. Location is certainly convenient.

    Zononi's Auto Repair
    This is an older car (1999), and Zononi has done numerous major repairs in the past two years. We've been happy with them, in general. In the case of the transmission and clutch replacement, the work took two days longer than promised. This was understandable but annoying. We learned of the delay on our way to pick it up (which involved leaving work early and picking my husband up several miles away to drive to the service station). They should have called. Driving away from the shop once the job was done, my husband knew that something wasn't right. A week later, he took it back and found out that the transmission was faulty. A second transmission was put in, and Zononi loaned us a car while they were working, which was much appreciated. In the end the work is holding up, and the initial problems seem (kind of) like an honest mistake. Not sure why they didn't hear/feel the same thing my husband did when driving away the first time, though.

    the car went to have a service and a general checkup. what they found was a ton of things wrong that needed immediate attention. i had only bought the car a year before at sarat ford hard to believe my whole front end was shot totally in less than a year. but they fixed it and were easy to deal with. i had to rent a car from them and it was 50 a day but convenient and quick. I had the car detailed while I was there and they did a great job

    The used auto sales manager had recently been hired to 'move cars off the lot fast.' He was in such a big hurry to sell the car, evidently, that he was making up the answers to my questions about it on the fly, rather than making sure the information he gave me was accurate. When I finally got him to print out the CARFAX details, it turned out that he was way off about previous ownership and use of the car. He fudged his way through an explanation of the details of a failed emissions inspection, and was unable, when I noticed a discrepancy in the odometer readings between that and the next emissions inspection listed, to provide me with the most basic explanation of the necessity of driving 50-100 miles specifically in order to reset the onboard computer diagnostic readings (I bought my last vehicle, a 1995 Toyota Corolla, the year before these computerized diagnostic systems became mandatory). All he could come up with was, and quot;IT has to reset,and quot; several times, and could not tell me that this was related to the onboard computer (as was later explained to me by a friend), in fact he never mentioned the computer system at all. He generally acted nervous and shifty-eyed, and for the most part seemed to be avoiding my questions rather than getting me the answers I needed. It's a shame, since the dealership has been family owned and operated since 1988, was BBB accredited and AAA approved, and had a decent reputation. This experience convinced me that I would now not want to buy a used car from this dealership.

    These guys were wonderful from the first call to to car delivery. They gave me the best price I could get anywhere and then DROPPED IT when I asked about a further discount. They very cheerfully took care of all of the buy/sell details and were always right on time with everything they promised. I'll never buy a new car from anybody else.

    Richard took meon very short (hours) notice and fit me in during my brief lunch break. He gave us good advice about oil changes for a new Honda and did the work as promised and at the quoted price.
