  • My aunt is 84 years old so I do most of her business. A Bid was given on August 28, 2014 and 2020.00 (half of the bid) was paid for supplies. Work was to began as soon as supplies were in, (approx. two weeks). After four weeks we began calling and were told the supplies were in but they were too busy to give us a date when work would begin and they were short handed, but they were certain it would be soon. We continued to wait and call ( calls were never made by Armor Crete to us) but always and excuse about why they couldn't schedule a date to begin. Some excuses were workers quit, sub-contractor didn't show up, too busy and short handed. By November it seemed like we would finally get the job started. We were told that there was a problem with the color and type of coloring we chose (it was for indoor use. Their mistake) so we needed to pick something else. This was two weeks before Thanksgiving so we quickly got on-line and picked another color from a different chart. They told us they would order and use Over-Night delivery (No extra charge to us). Work was to begin the following Monday or Tuesday and the patio would be finished by Thanksgiving. They would call us when they were 20 miles away. No one ever showed up. We called and asked for our money back. We were told they couldn't do that because they had used the money for supplies and we called over and over again. I kept the call list on my phone.

We went to the police and they began a fraud investigation. Their lawyer talked to the detective and said we had agreed to wait until January of 2015 to began the job. NOT True, we were always given excuses and told they could not tell us exactly when they would begin the job because of, weather, workers, sub-contractors, etc.

In January the detective called to say they would do the work if we were willing.  To avoid further trouble for my aunt we agreed. Bad decision, The patio looks terrible. Lines from the stenciling are uneven, some lines smeared and some doubled. High peaks were left when the stencil was pulled up. They broke off leaving white spots. Foot prints can be seen in some areas, and in other areas they had too much texture making it difficult to walk on, clean or roll on with a wheelchair. Other areas have little texture and color. The patio looks far worse than before and now its difficult to roll on and almost impossible to clean. We have not asked them to fix it because we just want to get them out of our lives. Beware of Acadiana Home Works, Armor Crete Coatings  Owners: Rowe and Mizel

  •  After 3 months of waiting, calling and calling  and hearing a multitude of excuses as to why they couldn't start the job, We requested a refund, but we were told they could not refund the 2020.00 because it was used for the materials. AT one point in November, they said they were coming but we had to choose another color because they made a mistake and the one we picked was for indoors. We picked another color that same day, waited for them to come the following week, but no one showed up and we didn't hear a word from them. We began the calls once more and the waiting continued through: Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day. We're Still looking at the same old carpet and 2020.00 seems to be lost.

Around January 19, 2015 the Work was  to begin on the patio, five months after we gave them the money for materials.

This time the two owners showed up and they worked on the patio for 3 days. When the job was finished it was looked terrible. The stenciled lines were smeared, doubled, uneven and had peaks on some of the edges of the lines. When these tall edges broke it's white underneath not the terracotta color. The finished patio is so uneven and rough it's difficult to clean and walk on with out tripping. Foot prints are visible in some areas and other areas look as though material was dropped in batches while other areas looked as though they had run out of material.

Please check the Better Business Bureau before hiring a contractor. I wish we had because then I would have seen they have an F rating.

We are getting another contractor to redo the patio and this one has been checked out.
