Home Builder reviews in Metairie

  • My project started when promised and ended when scheduled. It was the most smooth renovation I have ever done. The workers were very prompt, courteous, clean and respected my home and me. Ducar uses a computer app that had a schedule for each day, a price breakdown, a message system to communicate, a progression chart and pictures. The project manager was always available via text or cell phone. The whole crew were awesome.

  • Dan and his team were excellent. He was very responsive and professional. His prices were comparable or even better than his competitors. The job was completed in about a 1 1/2 days and most likely would have been 1 day, but we had some weather issues. After his guys completed the job they made sure all areas were completely cleaned. I was especially impressed with the added details. He sprayed my whirly birds and any pipe stacks to match the color of my roof so they blended in more. This is such an awesome option when I look at my neighbors and they have rust and silver objects on top of their roof. Mac Brothers also had a great selections of roof tiles for me to choose from. I would definitely recommend his services to anyone. You cant go wrong!

  • Dan came out for an estimate and met with my insurance guy pointed out the problems that existed. He was very professional and got the job. He and his friendly crew showed up always on time ( with rain coming down intermittently the entire week). They did a Beautiful Job with a great cleaned up AND they were very well priced. It's pretty hard to ask for more than that... except "shout it from the roof tops" ! Thanks so much, guys.

  • These guys not only do excellent work, they are reliable. They give a fair price and see the project through in a timely manner. Very good folks. I just wish they would relocate as I move out of state!

  • In both years, the company promised to begin work in a certain month but in actuality the start of work was at least two months behind.

The sole purpose for the pond was that Mark recommended this as a noise distraction and visual enhancer. My wife wanted a noise distraction. Mark suggested a cascading noisy pond with fountains, What the pond ultimate appeared to be were bamboo sticks fountain with absolutely no noise reduction. The whole purpose of the pond was to use the cascading  water as noise detractors, this pond effort was a total failure.

As part of a Japanese design Mark recommended slates with stationary river rock. This is an absolute mess, the rocks we understood would be cemented in place while in reality they are loose. This creases a constant mess to the yard

This was a $20,000 project, the plants that were flowering were a disaster. Louisiana irises have not bloomed to this date,

The gardenias planted have either died or on the verge of dying, no flower production.

In 2014, once the crew came, they came with abut 15 plants short of one variety. The landscaper said one of the other workers from another crew had taken our plants. he recommend that we should plant one half of the yard with the larger plants and one half of the yard with smaller plants. he indicated that the smaller plants would quickly catch up in size with the larger plant. This has not been that case and we are quite unhappy. Knockout roses were also planted and fertilized. They were pretty much dead by the end of the summer, Hydrangeas, that were planted in the front have not bloomed at

all. The mondo grass planted along the walkway was dead by fall

We are most dissatisfied with the follow up, the quality of the plants, and the design and installation of the pond/slate installation

To say the least we are quite disappointed with the service and services of Mullins!

They have not responded to our complaints!

  • Personalized service, constant updates, always did exactly what they said with no runaround. My family has a beautiful home that was well-constructed at a competitive price, and WE ALL couldn't be happier. These people know what customer service is all about PERIOD

  • Matt Pollitt of Pittman Restoration was awesome! I called in based on a referral, he immediately answered, and was out at my client's property the next day. He provided an itemized estimate the following day, and had crews at the property within a few days.
I'm a Realtor, and I need to be able to provide my clients with quality contractor referrals. Pittman superseded all of my expectations! I couldn't be happier with the end result. Easy to deal with, excellent, timely work... I'm absolutely going to refer them to every client I come across in the future!

  • The project went very smooth. After initially contacting Alex OValle (owner), we set up an appointment for the following day for him to come over to conduct a site survey and to discuss what our needs were. Alex was very prompt, we discussed what I wanted, which was a 13x16 addition to my existing raised house. I received his proposal within 2 days.  About 2 weeks later I contacted Alex and told him that we had decided to go with his company. From that time on Alex took complete charge of the project, he went to the Parish and applied for and received the Building Permit. Construction began, crew was very professional, courteous and prompt. Alex handled all inspections throughout project, with all passing easily, and the job was finished within the time frame we had discussed. Alex was very easy to get in touch with, always returned my calls within minutes and was always happy to answer any questions I had. We are very pleased with the new room and the O'Valley Group, and would highly recommend them.

  • It went great. They were excellent and on time. They did a great job. Everything was perfect. Their pricing was very competitive and very reasonable. In all the pictures that we saw, the construction was really great. Their aesthetic is really great. Overall, they were good and the quality of their work was also good.

  • The house took over 16 months to build and is full of problems.  We moved in August 2012 and Norman Shephard has not shown up for a single appointment to rectify some of these issues.  I cannot begin to list all of the issues we are having.  The home inspection has 78 items listed! All I can say is someone in the Permits office must have gotten paid off.  We have so many code violation in my house! Now I have to pay to have all of it fixed out of pocket! The parish had to come out for an unrelated inspection and notified me that my main electrical line is not to code.  This is what forced us to do a home inspection.
Concrete porch is 3inches higher than the interior of the house, poorly sloped, and no flashing in place.  (Water runs into my house when it rains.)
Gutters all sloped wrong way, holding water
    Balcony sloped the wrong way
Outside of windows not sealed, so we now have water damage under windows inside
Hardwood floors buckling, installed prior to A/C and not acclimated
Transitional molding all cracked within days becuase the wrong type was used
Mold disaster from a plumbing hole that wasn't filled in properly in the bathroom walls.  The hole was large enough that we can tell rats got in and ate the insulation around hot water pipes.
Wood bleeding through exterior, only one coat of paint used. (update: columns are rotting because of water issues on the second floors)
Main power line is inches within upstair balcony handrail (code violation) (Update: his electrician finally came back and corrected this)
Lightning Rod were supposed to be installed inside of walls but instead on exterior of house.
Lightning Rods wrapped round the OUTSIDE of the gutters (gutters would melt or burn if they took a strike)
Exterior doors not hung properly (you can see daylight through all the doors)
Walk-in shower flooring not properly slope, standing water
    Dryer vents into attic
    KITCHEN STOVE VENTS INTO ATTIC!!!
Beam in living room is sagging

UPDATE:  After fighting the insurance company for three years we were told that he had a ghost policy and it didn't cover anything of his work product.  Plus a few days after our third anniversary in the house,  we took water into the house a second time.  Hardwood floors shot, sheetrock ripped, door jams swelled and cracked, and the battle of mold resumes.  The water seems to be coming from the upstairs porch but we aren't certain because water is coming in at multiple spots and running down the walls to the first floor and flooding several rooms.
