Eye Care reviews in Leesville

    Le Blanc, Dr. Cornell H.
Overall this is the worst eye doctor I've seen (and I've seen multiple from many different states). I saw Dr. LeBlanc in his Leesville office multiple times. The price I was given over the phone was not the price I was charged. After I paid in full the balance (glasses lens price and contact price) I was told that the brand of contacts I wanted they would not sell me (because the doctor refuses to sell the brands). I asked for a refund or my RX then and was told I wouldn't be refunded and that they would not give me my RX (not even for my glasses). So being stuck paying the glasses amount as well as the fee's for contacts I told them I would try the brand(s) they suggested.
Each Rx I tried I was given a 7-14 day trial and was told to come back. I went through 4 different brands before a half way decent RX was found. The brand(s) I used were 2 different ones (one for an astigmatism and one for regular). Dr. Leblanc wanted the same brand in EACH eye. This doctor does not listen to the patient no matter what they request and assures you "He knows best". He told me each time I tried a new brand that "This one should be better than the last" and "couldn't understand why they all were uncomfortable"
The first 3 appointments (including the initial) me, my husband and our child were waiting almost 2 hours....the appointments were made in advance and were non-emergencies. Each time I asked when I would be seen I was given an excuse. During one appointment the Dr. actually was next door dealing with someone who was  renting the office space (which apparently he owns) he was dealing with personal business during his working hours and I among other patients were having to deal with it. Not only did he do this during his appointment times, he joked about it afterwards that patients had came early like requested (I was one of them). Another time I came in for a morning apt and he was late even coming the beginning of the work day! That morning due to him arriving late and seeing patients late I ended up having to reshedual because I had a doctors apt on post. I came in that morning at the behest of his office and I had told them I had an apt later that morning that was important. The woman over the phone said "Oh, you'll be fine he'll see you first thing in the morning....." Once the time I needed to get to my important apt came up I had asked her what was going on I was told "Well he's not going to be able to see you, might as well reschedual".
While in the doctors chair during the exams the doctor also gives you his "pamphlets" promoting his personal views as well as his accomplishments. He actually handed my husband a whole printed out stapled article about himself saying we "Might enjoy his accomplishmens" and know I'm in "good hands". He also throws in too much personal conversation which ends up making other patients late on getting into their appointment (because he's spent 45m talking about him and his families person resumies, accomplishments, political views etc etc). He treats his job like a social promotion event, he was not professional in the slightest.
While in the chair I asked him on his viewpoints on Lasik and the other options he told me his view on it (100% against it) and gave me statistics he swore by (that I couldn't find where he came up with through quite a bit of research on my part once we got home) and he tried to persuad me to get his "therapy" that he's promoted in his office on a TV and in the pamphlet he gave my husband. He also stated that he sees so many soldiers from Fort Polk due to PKR issues that he's the only saving grace "us military" have in regards to eye sight.
I received my glasses (which I brought in my own frames) about 8-10 days after my initial visit and the frames were not cut correctly on either side. I have the clear "wire" framed bottoms and on each side there is a "cresent" on the left bottom and the right top. Like the lens tech cut them reversed and said "Eh, we'll still use them". Any glasses that have to be cut or contacts needed have to be shipped to Alexandria (where this guys main business is) and your wait is longer.
If you do force a refund ANY testers that you tried on are $40-$50 dollars OFF your in my case after the initial I would have lost not only the $40 from the 1st horrible pair I wouldn't have gotten my RX for ANYTHING, would have been out the gas and time from family plus the time my husband had to get off work (each time he had to be present due to my eyes having to be redilated) plus would have had to wait 2-3 weeks for a appointment at another eye doc (at this point school was back in session so all the kids had apts pre shedualed and everyone was booked). They literally make it to where you are "damned if you do, damned if you don't".
Due to all this I do not recommend anyone go this doctor in Alexandria or Leesville. This is a joke of an optometrist and the only reason he's in business here is because of the lack of decent eye docs in the area (expecially the fact that Fort Polk doesn't have it's own optometrist which forces families to go to Leesville/surrounding area for one). Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere.

    Alexandria Eye & Laser Center
Alexandria Eye and Laser has an office in my town of Leesville, LA which provides a convenient way for me to see my ophthalmologist
I had no problems with wait time. The staff is always courteous and professional. I usually. go in and get a thorough exam within an hour's time. I've had great experiences with Dr. Norton and his staff through numerous visits and procedures. This clinic is highly recommended.

They try very hard to schedule my appointment around my pre-existing schedule. They have me in early or late and they work with me on that. They are true professionals up there.
