    Home Bright Home Improvement
It went extremely well. The room exceeded my expectations. The crew, Ron and Billy, were great. Ron offered suggestions that were very instrumental in making this my dream bedroom. I would recommend Home Bright to everyone.

    MLM Inc
There were a few hiccups, some of which were completely expected.
    (a) Earlier work (10 years ago) demonstrated that my floors were not level.  As I expected, there was additional cost to level the floors.
    (b) The contractor originally left off the use of quarter-rounds to finish off the connection of baseboard and floor.  After discussion with the subcontractor lead, they decided it was needed. The change increased the cost, but I was ok with that.
    A few were unexpected
    (a) I misread the contract and did not notice that it was written to indicate that the tub would be replaced with a new tub.  The change increased the cost.
    (b) I requested a line item cost for moving furniture, et al.  However, the contractors understood that to be only moving furniture and not all of the packed items.  The cost was increased to move boxes and items which had not been packed.
    (c) I needed to rent a POD for a month to hold the house's contents.  Upon consideration, I think this was an excellent suggestion. However, this also increased my cost.
Despite all of the occasional misunderstanding, I am very much satisfied with the result.  This is the first time that I've used a contractor who did not pick all of the materials without my input.  It took more time that I expected to pick items that met the cost guidelines provided by the contractor.  However, this process meant that I ended up with a result as customized as possible with my budget.

    Home Sweet Home
HOME SWEET HOME is the classic case of bate and switch!

When I began using this group a year ago I sang their praises, like so many small contractors/handymen they did a 180' turn on me.
Their recent work is absolutely terrible having to return at least four times to make the repairs and still not completing the job. Also leaving the home in a horrible mess. I will have to have someone else finish and correct the work attempted by Debbie & crew.

Not only have they become unresponsive to my calls when they do schedule they don't show up. She does not stand by her work once completed and paid.

Her prices have more than tripled while the work is so sloppy that I can't believe it's the same people.

Stay far away from this company they will cost you both time, money and your reputation if recommending them to someone else.

Thanks Angie's List for offering this review option Because people should know the truth!

    Burrows Construction Inc.
I met Mr. Burrows through a family member of his while he was visiting in New Orleans for the holidays.  Initial meeting was a free estimate.  I explained my desires with Mr. Burrows and he was able to give advice on the best way to meet my desires.  During the consultation I asked about some minor work on a door and door frame, and he was patient in understanding exactly what I wanted him to do, then he thoroughly explained  what he could do for the minor repairs to the door and frame.  Once it was clear exactly what needed to be accomplished he provided a bill with explanation as how, when and what type of payment is needed so he could proceed.  Before during and after, Mr. Burrows conducted himself in a professional manner, and was clean and confined to his working space.  Upon completion Mr. Burrows provided me with some extra business cards and also explained other services he provides like restoration, additions etc.  He did a wonderful job and I absolutely love and enjoy my rooms.  Whenever my friends need work or if the need should arrive again that I need a painter or repair man Burrows Construction is first in mind.

Bill Smothers Of Mrs. Remodeling LLC
Melanie Franklin and Bill Smothers were a business of MRS. Remodeling LLC.  Not listed on Louisiana State Licensing Board
for Contractors: LSLBC.  ALWAYS CHECK with the Licensing Board.  Lesson learned- we are now using Angie's List.  The
work started out well, and they were helpful. However, when the drywall work was inspected it required re-work, and the
paint on the dry wall work was not completed.
Siding Work - Bill Smothers did not choose a good crew to do the vinyl siding and he said he lost money and had
to replace a lot of material, however, the siding was completed.  They did not honor the removal of debris portion of the contract, they left siding debris in the backyard, and we had to hire a junk removal company which generated another expense and cause the 10x10 patch of burned grass.
Flooring - Bill and crew started flooring carpet and vinyl, but WALKED OFF the JOB and we cannot reach
them as they are just not answering the phone. 985-285-7550.   To confirm this I had a friend call from a different phone and they answered said they would complete the work and did not. He left his tools and materials in the property.  The Vinyl flooring has to be completely redone; the contractor who is doing the work provided this estimate on the work that needs to be fixed in addition to the new work and the carpet was laid with no padding at all.
The New Contractor Estimate- ANGIES List referral!!!! YEA!!
CARPET ESTIMATE: For the carpet new I figured we MAY be able to complete the upstairs by using the carpet from the Living room & dining room, which would mean that we would have to order carpet for those two rooms, plus we need to install padding under of all the carpet.
Flooring Estimate: All the material is not usable which means that it would be a matter of starting from scratch with new material and preparing the floor properly. It would be as follows:
Pull up all existing vinyl floor, moving 2 appliances, removing whatever existing shoe molding and replacing it with new primed shoe molding, removing and installing 1 toilet and 1 metal stair nose at foyer steps. There is a possibility of needing to patch
floor once the old vinyl is pulled up depending what shape the slab is in.  Because the flooring and carpet had to be redone and completed, we have also levied a complaint with BBB, hoping for a settlement for the the cost of the flooring and carpet.
We did pay Melanie Franklin and Bill Smothers as the work was being done so this is not an issue of non-
payment.  MRS. Remodeling LLC provided  Very POOR service we did not have any disagreement they just stopped communicating and walked off the job.

    Bobs Painting & General Repairs
Great.  They were very professional.  Did work on timely basis.  Very polite and helpful staff and painters.  Would definitely use them again.   He informed us before the job that we should never give any money up front.  That spoke volumes to us.  Job was done in the amount of time promised, and the cost was as quoted to us.  We are very pleased.

    Able Home Improvements

Richard and Darrell did a great job with a home we purchased that had major termite damaged, they re-framed the whole front, built a new platform, re-painted the celling, and walls of the entire house. They also installed new windows, toilets, front and back doors. The cost also included granite counter tops, redoing the staircase rails and spindles. We had numerous sheetrock damage and repairs done in the home,  the house looks 100% better since all the work has been done and on time.  They worked Monday thru Sunday for three weeks to get to where we?re at now. We have slowed down due placing new cabinets, this was anything with their quote we?re doing this one ourselves and floors. Thanks Richard, Darrel and crew!!

They were reliable. The workers knew what they were doing. They were very thorough and would show me each step of the way. They checked to see if I was satisfied with it and then they primed it. Then they let me look at that before they put the paint on. I like the way they run their company.

Harry's Touch C-rock finnishing and painting
He works for the people who really need his service. He is a good person and he wants to have good people. I had some termites in the corner of the house. He took down the board that had termites and replaced that with good lumber. He brought a painter who is professional. If there is something that needs to be done, he can do it, but he does not have license for that. He will do only if you want him to do it. He is charging $400 to paint one room and that included the materials also. He might be a little bit expensive for other people. He has his own thing. He does not work all day. He will work for about two or three and then he goes to another job, but he did the work on time. He will be there early in the morning and he will leave at two. He is very reliable. He is extremely honest. I cannot tell how pleasing it is to be with someone like that. He is very prompt too. I would recommend him to anybody who needs to get the work done. He is going to do an excellent job, but only thing is that he has that time limit. He got to leave because in the evening he has to take care of an old man. He is willing to stay here and work for my house as long as I want work done. I would use his service in the future too.

All areas went outstanding. Price was real close and invoices given me was very clear and understandable. His men worked great and cleaned up after themselves. Total job completed early.
