    Audubon Cabinets
    I found Steve on Angie's List. I have a master bathroom that had a horrible sheetrock job. Steve assured me that he could fix it by skimming and repainting. I purchased the 299.00 deal directly from Steve. He started the job around 8ish skimming is what I thought he was doing. Then he went on to spreading the sheetrock mud. He stopped for lunch and that's when I found out he is 70 years old and had just had hip reconstruction surgery. He said this is his first job since then. I thought he was sanding and skimming the walls (only one wall was really bad and one part of the ceiling. He left at 4. Of course the job was not done but my vanity was out and my alarm was disconnected when he pulled out a wire. A lot of time was spent trying to reconnect my alarm, So his 8 hours wasn't 8 hours. I couldn't leave the room that way and paid another 299 and bought another day, which I was assured it would be perfect. It's not. The room is awful. The walls are just as bad as when it started. He brought his assistant who smoked a lot and Steve left because he forgot something and when I saw the assistant standing outside smoking I asked about Steve and he said he went somewhere and didn't know when he'd be back so the assistant did nothing. Today my bathroom walls are horrible, he refused to reconnect my vanity because he said it would be more than the time I paid for, even though again most of the time was spent smoking cigarettes and trying to fix the alarm he broke. His assistant hung 6 shutters which should be falling off any day now. He painted over flaking paint that Steve said he would sand and which the assistant said he did but didn't.  Now I have a horrible bathroom, no vanity, my alarm doesn't work and Steve is 600.00 richer. I wish I'd saved my money and hired a real contractor. I have to come up with more money to pay to have all of this done again. Thanks Angie's List.

    Jake & Son Plaster & Drywall
    Jake and Rocky arrived when they said they would, made all the repairs,
    cleaned up the work area and did an excellent job. Their work was about
    300% better than what my work would have been. Their card is now in my
    book of great service providers.

    Jeff of all Trades
    We contacted Jeff back in January and got an estimate from him to do some work on our grandmothers house that we inherited, he was very nice and gave us an estimate, however we were unable to do the work at that time. I gave him a call 6 months later and he remembered us but said that the price will probably go up since it was so long since the last estimate. The price did go up but since I have read good reviews online I wanted to stick with him and now I am happy I did. At first he brought two guys to help him that really didnt know what they were doing so that dissapointed me but as soon as I called him about the problem he apologized a lot and told me he wouldn't be bringing them back. The work is not done yet but should be done within the next two days. I am so far very pleased with the work he has done and I am excited to see the final product. Will update when all work is done!

    Home Sweet Home
    The job was scheduled to begin on a Tuesday and 3 workman showed up ontime at the agreed upon time of 9 am.  They built a tent out of plastic sheeting in the family room sealing it off from the rest of the house to contain the dust from the jackhammer used to remove the old ceramic tile.  The ceiling in that room is 18 feet and the tent was well constructed to contain the dust to the lower level.  I was very impressed with the dust containment plan they implemented that included fans to exhaust the dust outside and dampening it to keep it from becoming airborne.  It worked exceptionally well.  The tent was constructed in a way to contain the dust to the lower level of the house and out of all connecting rooms, stairways, doorways and the open catwalk above the family room that leads to two seperate wings on the second floor.
    .After the ceramic tile and old hardwood floor removel they installed the new flooring.  The job took several weeks.   I prolonged the job because I made errors ordering the materials.  The materials arrived late and left the workman with little to do until the correct materials arrived.  They painted and made the best of it and completed a bucket list of small jobs my wife threw at them without complaint - and they did NOT charge me for any of those small jobs.
    I paid very close attention to the details of how the flooring was laid and advised them how I wanted the floors to run and where I wanted the seams and cuts.  They laid extremely expensive marble in a large foyer and connecting bathroom, ceramic tile in the kitchen, and 5" plank hardwood in a separate home office and a 900 square foot family room.  The work was performed flawlessly.  I gave them a very demanding plan that required perfection and they executed it perfectly ontime and on schedule.
    Originally I had decided not to spend extra money to paint all of the trim (which was repainted only two years earlier) but they painted it anyway to match the other trim that was painted at NO additional cost to me.  It was little things like that impressed me most.  Every day before they started work they laid down rolls of brown construction paper and firmly taped it down to all surfaces to protect both old and new surfaces from the dusty mess renovation invariably causes. They arranged for a large construction dumpster to be delivered and they neatly filled it up with debris from the remodel.  They cleaned up after themselves daily and didn't leave debris or paint stains on my grass, on my porches, patios,, or driveways.  They completed the job about 10 days after the projected completion date but the delay was my fault.  I delayed them by not ordering the right materials.  They never complained or charged me extra for the delays.  They did a fabulous job and I will use them for every remodeling job I do in the future if they are available.  I live in a Country Club Community with strict rules about construction work appearance and cleanup.  They followed those rules the letter and the entire experience was professional and first class in every respect.  My neighbors are clammering for references for this construction company.

    Home Sweet Home
    Debbie met me on time for the estimate and gave me a very fair price.  We agreed on the terms and schedule to begin and complete the repairs - beginning the next day.  The next morning Debbie showed up on time with a crew of 5.  They put in 10 hours that first day  They cleaned as they worked and when they left for the night there was no mess to clean up.  It took three days to complete the job including the painting and side project building a movie theater in an adjacent room.  The entire job was completed on time and I received progress reports each day.  The finished work was first rate.  All repairs were very well done and the Home Theater side project was excellent.   Every facet of the work performed was top notch.  I was very impressed with the variety of skills the crew possessed and the overall quality of their work.  I will hire Home Sweet Home again.
     I have rental property and will use Home Sweet Home for extensive repairs and renovations to those properties.   Over the years I have used many contractors and individual craftsmen for large and small jobs on all of my properties.   Home Sweet Home was the best overall experience I have ever had with a construction project.

    Honey Do Repair & Remodel LLC
    First when Rik returned my call to get details on the job I needed he was very nice and knowledgeable. He showed up within a day or so to come take a look at what was needed to give us an estimate. His understanding and knowledge of what needed to be done was top notch. He showed up on the day he said he would bright and early. Rik and his assistant were very nice and they did a wonderful job. Everything looks perfect, even the texture on the ceiling matched. One of the best things of all is how clean they were. Granted they were working with Sheetrock so there is no avoiding the dust but they kept it contained. So not only was the work awesome but they were clean doing it. If anything comes up in the future I will be sure to call Honey Do again!

    Arthur Hernandez
    I called Arthur and left a voicemail over the Christmas holiday season. Although he was out of town, he returned my call, told me when he would be back, and then called on the day he said he would. He came out to look at the job on Thursday, and said he would call back with the price estimate.
    On Friday he called with a price and told me he thought he would be able to get a crew out on Saturday, but would call back later that day to confirm it. True to his word, he called back later on Friday and said that they would be there at 9AM on Saturday to do the job.
    Saturday morning they showed up, carefully put down tarps on the floor, so as they went in and out bringing in the drywall they would not get the floors dirty. By about 10AM the drywall was up and the specialist who did tape and mud got to work. They did a masterful job putting a smooth finish on the room and finished up, leaving everything cleaned up, about 5PM.
    Sunday morning Arthur returned, sanded the walls and put on a coat of primer (an added bonus, since I had only asked for the room to be ready for paint).
    Although the room was small, the job was not; the dining room is in the middle of the house, with 8 foot openings between it and the living room in the front, and the kitchen in back. The wall is completely seamless from the front of the house to the back of the house. The room also has a window, eight outlets, a wall switch, a ceiling fixture, and a furnace vent in the ceiling. Being a small room, they had to do a mosaic of smaller drywall pieces.
    They kept the work site clean and did not waste materials. They did a masterful job.

    Brooks Quality Painting And Contracting
    Mr. Brooks responded promptly to my request for an estimate.  He listened and didn't interrupt when we explained what we wanted done and showed him the areas to be worked on.  He then asked questions to make sure we all understood what was to be done, when it could begin (and the expected finish), and then he measured all areas.  We asked him about his business license and workmen's comp and other insurance.  Mr. Brooks had all that was necessary.

    After reviewing other estimates, we chose Brooks Quality based on our interview with Mr. Brooks, and the following info:

    A+ Better Business Bureau rating, as well as being a member for many years;

    Louisiana licensed business since 1970;

    Estimate that was lower than others;

    History of this family-owned company, including the fact that the (youngest) Mr. Brooks, now the owner, had the help of his father whenever he asked.

    They didn't start the day we had originally agreed upon, but that was better for us as we weren't ready for them by that day anyway.  They arrived promptly on the date at the time stated and immediately got to work.  We had moved some of the furniture out of the rooms, but the crew just covered the furniture that remained and worked around it.  Other than someone occasionally going in and out of the house for errands and tools, I barely saw them for hours as they worked in the back part of the house.  Since the ceilings were still damp from the texture removal, they were able to work only about 4 hours the first day.  But every day for the next 4 days the crew, including Mr. David Brooks and his father, arrived on time and worked without breaks.  I'm sure they took a break for lunch, but it certainly wasn't a long one as I didn't even notice.

    Mr. Brooks showed us the work done each day and explained what was going to happen the next day.  He didn't flinch when we added extra areas of drywall that needed repair, such as old phone and cable outlets.  He added a small price increase when the walls of one of the rooms needed an extra coat of paint, but the price was more than fair.

    The finished work was beautiful.  We couldn't even tell where damaged areas or old outlets had been located!  They even did a small area (that wasn't included in the estimate) because it was so close to another finished area.  They cleaned up after themselves each day, and asked for my final approval before accepting payment.  I will definitely use Brooks Quality Painting in the future.
