    Premier Southern Builders
Charlie, Rene, and their crew were wonderful to work with and the contract that was signed was clear and covered both us and Charlie. Because we were flood victims and had to wait for insurance money to be released from our mortgage company, they were all very accommodating and continued to get the work done. In addition, they kept us updated and provided us with information that helped us stay in budget as well as give us the house we could've only dreamed of. Charlie's contact for tile was wonderful, he even contacted me via FaceTime because I was unable to drive to Metairie to see his inventory and showed me everything that fit what I described wanting. If anything went wrong, Charlie was a HUGE advocate for us. The only incident we had was a texture job that Charlie wasn't satisfied with (he knew what to look for better than we did) and he had them come back out to redo the work and also clean some items that they neglected to cover. We an issue with some things being hooked up, and Charlie and Rene drove almost 2 hours within a day to come check out the issue and fix it. My husband and I couldn't have been more blessed with someone honest, understanding, and willing to work with us. Plus, we're one of the first people in our part of the neighborhood to have our home completed, even with the delays of ordering doors, cabinets, etc.

After they came out and measured they gave us a quote of $6800.00. We excepted at first, but then changed our mind because we felt it was too high. We had also asked for a quote for replacing another shower with another one with ceramic tile. He quoted $15,000.00 to do both, which we thought was outrageous. I have to add one thing, the guy that came asked for a deposit, and I asked how how much and he said the full amount. I was a little shocked, thinking half would be appropriate. We finally settled on $3000.00 down. He did refund the full amount of the deposit after we changed our mind, but it took over a week.

They gave us a line-item bid as we asked and worked with us to allow us to perform some aspects of the job in order to save money. The two workers were punctual and very tidy. They even put plastic on the carpet to protect it. Tim really is an artist with tile. He's a perfectionist, and everything looks great because of it. They let us choose everything including finishes and made good recommendations on things we were unsure about.  They also let us add a few things to our original bid as we saw we wanted them. We are very pleased and would recommend them highly.

They said they would have the quote ready in a week but it ended up taking a few weeks.  I feel that they should have told me about this and not over promise the quote.  I would use them again in the future.

    High Demand Construction
WARNING: DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!! Worst business experience of our lives. From beginning, contractor misrepresented licensing, appropriate insurance, capabilities, experienced employees, and time frame. In our opinion, and the opinion of ALL contractors contacted to REPAIR damage that has been done by Sean Chaffee (d/b/a High Demand Construction), his work is substandard, incompetent, and UGLY. Bids to repair are much higher than the original bids on the projects. The drywall/painting/tile work is so bad that many contractors we have contacted don't even want to tackle it! Sean Chaffee is NOT a licensed contractor in Louisiana, even though he proclaims to be one. He is a great salesman, though, who says all the right things in order to secure your business. Once he has your money, though, you may be in for a horrible experience! Several times, when shoddy work was brought to his attention, he became indignant and threatened to abandon the job--of course, with no refund of the money he had been paid. He said we were being "too picky," as if expecting quality work for good money was unreasonable. He would eventually agree that the work was not done correctly (and he would not have accepted it in his home), but when he tried to "fix" it, the result was always worse than before. We have ended up with walls that are horrendous--uneven texture, sheen, and many raised bumps of drywall mud. The ceilings are as bad--uneven priming and painting, gouges, and uneven lines where the ceiling meets the wall. The bathroom tile work is unacceptable--tiles are placed unevenly, grout lines vary from 1/4" to 5/8", patterns are irregular, sharp edges are exposed, etc, etc.. In my opinion, Mr. Chaffee is incapable of performing quality painting and/or tile work. In addition, he has no crew to speak of, even though he will promise you in the beginning that he does. Workers came and went during the almost seven weeks (we were promised it would take only three) that Mr. Chaffee was in our home. None of the workers who did show up seemed to possess the experience or expertise that he promised us his crew had. After realizing that we were never going to get a quality product from Mr. Chaffee, we asked him to leave our premises. He has lots of our money--over $13,000--and we have three areas in our home that now need to be repaired. After reading this, if you still intend to hire Sean Chaffee/High Demand Construction, I wish you the best of luck. You are going to need it! Whoever you hire, please learn from our mistakes. ALWAYS verify licensing through the state contractors board; make sure appropriate insurance is in place with the issuing company/agent--make sure it covers the type of work being performed on your home; visit a site where your contractor is currently working--talk to the homeowner, see the type of work being done and verify the crew that he employs; do a CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK; and NEVER, EVER pay a large amount of money up front!
