Storage Unit reviews in Baton Rouge

  • This business was started five years by a retiree and we were among his first customers because he's not far from our house. In addition to standard storage for personal and household goods (locked rooms of various sizes), he built a large covered facility for parking RVs, trailers, and boats up to about 30 feet long. Security is more than adequate, with a passcode-controlled gate. (The
code is required again in order to get OUT,  which is a useful defense against those who might mange to slip in leaving with vehicles.) In addition to the all-concrete main facility, he also has "open" (uncovered, unpaved) storage at a much lower rate, mostly for flat-bed work trailers and such less-fragile vehicles.
In the time we were there (before finally selling our trailer), he was usually on the premises himself, keeping the grounds clean, looking after things, and helping customers. He also has a couple of employees. All of them have always been polite, professional, and very helpful.

  • My first mistake was that I rented the unit sight unseen.  He convinced me that it was the cheapest storage place in town and that he would mail me the contract and I  could mail it back to him.
When I saw it in person, I could see why.  It was small, old and difficult to access for anything larger than a van due to the fact that the entrance is below street level and the drives are narrow.  There was no fence.
Okay, I could live with that.  I bought some bricks to make sure my stuff didn't sit in water.
I mailed the contract and a check for one and one half month's rent.  Then I later mailed a check for the second full month.  I went to open my unit and there was a second padlock on it by the storage center, so I was unable to access my contents.  I checked my bank account and neither check had cleared.  So, the next day, I called and spoke with the unit manager and he admitted that he hadn't checked the po box in 3 weeks (more like 5 or 6 weeks in my estimation) .   He agreed to remove the lock sometime that day (Why not immediately?), but that he was going to have to take my "word for it that the checks would be there.  I found this insulting since he couldn't be bothered to check his own mail, then to lock my goods away from me and to imply that I might be lying.
If it didn't cost so much to move furniture I would be moving out tomorrow, but I will be out of there very soon.

  • It all went very well. From the first call to set up an appointment for an estimate and throughout the work until the final payment, everything went just fine. Very professional and well done. Customer service was great.

  • I called and George's assistant had George give me a call back. We met at the storage facility promptly and he got a chance to see everything and then he provided me an estimate. We talked about specifics and schedule and they then did the work as described above.
