He made it fun to learn Spanish and I learned more with him in 9 months than I did in 8 years of grade school Spanish. It was amazing.   It was great. I found Daniel to have a congenial personality and a genuine caring attitude toward his students. He was willing to work with me both in scheduling our classes and teaching me what I wanted to learn and what was important to me. I have enjoyed all of my classes with Daniel. Learning Spanish gives me a sense of accomplishment and Daniel's positive attitude certainly is motivating.

  Very well. Daniel Braun and associates at Coffee Shop Spanish in Cincinnati provide an excellent service. The emphasis is on communicative competence so that grammar instruction occurs in the context of communicatively-based learning exercises and activities. Daniel and his colleague Nidia are fluent in the language and represent both Spanish (European) and Latin American orientations with Daniel having lived and studied in Spain for extended periods of time and Nidia being from Colombia and pursuing her Ph.D. in Spanish at the University of Cincinnati. Highly recommended for individual and small group instruction,

  One thing that stands out about the Coffee Shop Spanish teachers is their flexibility. Although they have solid lesson plans at the ready, the are always prepared to offer me a custom lesson based on my interests of the moment. They are a delight to work with, yet serious about their teaching. Not content to simply offer lessons, they also provide structure and motivation for my Spanish work between classes. Being able to take my class over Skype mean that a one hour class truly takes only one hour out of my day.

  I've been taking lessons from Daniel with Coffee Shop Spanish for the past 1 year. I can't recommend it enough! I was new to the area and have taken a decent amount of Spanish at a community center in another city, I didn't want to jump into a class because I wasn't sure what level I'd be at and because I am in healthcare and was hoping for a more personal approach with some vocabulary built in specific to my work. Daniel is a wonderful teacher (and a very cool guy) - I've never felt uncomfortable speaking with him in Spanish or asking him any question. He's really helped me grasp some of the more difficult tenses as I'm moving into intermediate Spanish in a quick and easy way. He has excellent recommendations for ways to listen to Spanish (podcasts, movies, songs, etc) and provides opportunities to speak Spanish with natives as well! Also - you can take your lessons online via Skype as well - I was so glad to hear this feature was added, as I'll be able to continue my learning with the same great instructor even after I leave the area. You start with an introductory meeting and skill assessment. From there, he chose a textbook (which was affordable and has been perfect for my knowledge level). You meet as often as you'd like, typically 1-2x weekly. I have only met once weekly due to time constraints with my work. You set the meeting place (or meet online!). For Spanish students of any level, I highly recommend this individualized approach to learning!

  Daniel is the best of the best. He is punctual, funny, smart, positive, and has all the real world experience as well to back up his teaching program. I went from being able to say "hello, my name is" all the way to being able to read the Spanish version of The New York Times' in less than a year. I would recommend him to anyone, from CEO's to my twin nieces. He has such a great ability to connect with the individual and he always tailors his teaching style to meet the needs of the student.

  My 8th grade student has always struggled with reading and writing and entering his 8th grade year was testing at a 4th grade reading level. I have been blown away by the great service we have received at Focus13 from our very first contact. The free testing that my student received prior to beginning his tutoring sessions was extremely thorough and highlighted issues that the school system had never called out. My son, who has always had a bad attitude about reading, and has never been happy to work with any teacher in the past, actually enjoys his time at Focus13 and is always happy to go. Even he realizes how much help he is receiving there. I'm not sure where he is testing right now, but in the few months that my son has received services from Focus13 I can already see improvement in his reading and writing skills. I recently received an email from a teacher telling me how well he's doing and noting his improved attitude over all. Focus 13 - where were you eight years ago??? I highly recommend this service.
