  • I had Vision renovate an old bathroom in my 100+ year old house. Vic was very responsive after making contact, came out to bid the job, and gave me a quote all within a few days. The quote was reasonable and he answered any questions or concerns we had quickly. After accepting his quote they got started 2-3 days later. Old houses often have surprises when renovating as people have added on or renovated in "unique" ways in the past, as well as the use of older materials and techniques that don't go well with modern construction. My house was no different but they were able to work around these inevitable problems and complete the bathroom with little to no issues. All in all, the work was done relatively quickly and the bathroom looks great. They even went above and beyond to get the little details right that make the bathroom fit in with the rest of a historic house.

  • Mark Feldhaus and Feldhaus Home Improvement were great to work with! From the beginning when Mark came over to meet my wife and I, he was very professional and easy to get along with. Mark really took the time to listen to our wants and to talk through our design ideas. The quote provided explained the work to be preformed and Mark took the time to discuss the details. Once the project started, Mark and his team covered floors and items in the house to cut down on dust and prevent damage. As the project progressed, Mark kept me up to speed with phone calls and text messages and was always available to talk, even on the weekends. If there was ever a question or issue with how something should be done, Mark got a hold of us to get our input before moving forward. We also changed a couple of design ideas as the project moved forward and Mark walked us through what each change meant to make sure it was done the way we wanted. I would definitely recommend Mark Feldhaus Home Improvement for a project and will be reaching out to Mark with any future remodeling needs.

  • After meeting with three top-rated contractors, I selected John Trinkle. My decision was based on John's reputation, his respect for historic structures, and his written and verbal communication skills. I definitely made the right choice. John's team arrived on time every single morning, and each one of these fine men worked hard and were flexible with the quirks that are guaranteed to arise in 100+ year old homes. Individually and collectively, the craftsmen were excellent problem solvers, attentive to details, and always cheerful. The project took three weeks, and never once did I regret having the team in my home. John checked in on the job often and was always pleasant, caring, timely, and true to his word. The end result is a stunningly gorgeous bathroom and a very happy homeowner.

I highly recommend JT Contracting of Northern Kentucky and will call John for future projects.

  • Mostly it went well. The main contractor claimed he was not paid by handyman. He said he would have to file a mechanics lean against me if he was not paid. I called ownership and asked that they settle with their contractor. I assume it was done as I have not heard from anyone since.

  • Brent did a great job installing the new toilet. He cleaned up after the work was done and disposed of the old toilet. He also advised me on some other work that needs to be done. I've already contacted Tarvin again about installing a new bathroom faucet as well as running a water line to my new refrigerator. I'm very satisfied with Tarvin and am looking forward to hiring them again soon.

  • We used DDR to finish our basement, which included a home office, a multi-purpose room, a full bathroom, and multiple
storage areas.  We are very pleased overall with the quality of construction.  Since completion of the project we have had other professionals in to do decorating work, and all have commented that the quality of the work is very good.  The project was completed on a reasonable timeline.   There were a few times when a member of the crew felt that work completed by another crew member was not up to company standards, and they quickly pointed it out to us as well as the project manager so that the problem could be corrected immediately.   The electrician was especially good working with us on developing a lighting plan that would meet our needs, and we are very happy with the end result.  The crew that completed the cabinet installation and trim were also wonderful to work with.  The project manager was helpful in facilitating communication between the various contractors to keep with project on track.  He was responsive to our questions via phone and text when questions arose.  The only improvement could have been better communication regarding the specific timeline and when different phases were beginning.  There were a few times that we had notice the same day that we needed to be present to meet specific contractors who were starting their work to give our input.  We are excited to have our new lower level completed and look forward to many years enjoying the space.

  • The new shower stall was beautiful and functional.  James was very professional, completing the work on time and within budget, and has the experience and communication skills to work with the homeowner to develop a solution that's high quality in functionality and appearance.

  • Eric is so much more than a handyman. He is what every homeowner is looking for. He was on time and courteous. He is pleasant and clean, and did not leave a mess. He is very honest and thoughtful. I've been using handymen for years and this is the best one we've had. We got exactly what we contracted him to do and more. He always asks questions before doing any extra work.

  • The job could not have gone better.  My expectations were exceeded every step of the way. I have been an Angie's list member for a couple of years and have used the service to do a couple of large projects on the exterior and interior of my home.  I had looked at doing these two bathrooms a couple of years ago with a Super Service Award Winner who provided me an estimate.  I was pleased with the providers estimate and consulting skills but had sticker shock and decided to do my exterior projects first that year.  I spent a lot more money on the exterior projects but felt I was getting more done for the dollars spent at that time.  That provider was Sawdust Therapy.  I was so pleased with Sawdust Therapy I wanted them to do the bathrooms.  I contacted them and they were booked solid for months in advance.  I was willing to wait and did so for a number of months but I had a personal health issue come up that required me to move up my time line to get the job done.  Sawdust Therapy's owner consulted with me and I had to look at different vendors.
I contacted again the original Plumbing/Remodel contractor from a couple years ago and paid $90.00 for an estimate. They sent a great employee out to do all the preliminary measurement and consulting of both baths. I  was sure that they would most likely get the business and I did feel very confident with them from my original contact.
Due diligence, thank goodness, made me want to get another estimate.  I found Jim Carver and Sons on Angie's List and read all the reviews.  I thought frankly that they could do a great job but would be way out of my price range.  I spoke with Dave Carver by phone about the project and the first meeting was at his office.  Dave asked me to bring some basic measurements and a couple pictures of the spaces.  At the appointment I got a good overview of the company and their showroom.  Frankly my heart sank a little as I looked around the showroom and potential products.  I just knew that I probably would not be able to afford what I was seeing.  Dave asked a lot of questions and then asked if he could make a visit to my home.  I set that appointment up but told my wife we were probably going to love the ideas but they were probably out of our league.  Dave spent about an hour in our home taking measurements, more pictures and more questions. We set another appointment at his office about one week later to review the estimate and suggested materials that might be used.  During this time I heard back from the first vendor and they had a phone conversation with me going over their estimate and some solutions.  I requested that the information we had talked about be sent to me in writing and I did get an email a couple of days later.  No problems at this point with this vendor although I did expect a bit more detailed written document in light of a quote that was in the $30,000.00 range and I had paid up front $90.00 for the estimate. At my appointment with Carver I received a very detailed line item quote for both bathrooms including time line for both jobs, labor, fixture pricing etc.  Dave was also very upfront about fixture costs for plumbing and lighting.  One of his vendors was Grohe, a German Company, that he liked to use for plumbing fixtures due to quality and reliability.  He indicated on the fixtures I could select another vendor from Home Depot as well as the lighting fixtures.  He indicated I might save a fair amount of money.  After reviewing the quote for a couple days I went back and made some selections for tile, doors etc.  I did my own research on plumbing and light fixture vendors outside of what Dave suggested and found that yes I could save a fair amount of money I was not really comparing apples to apples  I moved forward with all the selections and frankly left thinking his quote would be on the low end $4,000 more than the other vendor.  I was wrong.  The quote came back about $1,5000-1,800.00 higher.  At this point I knew just from the follow up, detail of the quote, the contract itself and the drawings/pictures of what the finished product might looked like that I needed to go with Carver and Son's.  There was no comparison and although I was confident with the other vendor of doing a good job I was more than positive I would get more for the extra money I would spend with Carver. We started the project on 9 June with his employees Shawn Blank and Tony Griffith.  These young men were outstanding.  Communication skill on a daily basis, work ethic and an overview of what was going to happen each day was provided without us ever having to ask.  The second day in they ran into a drain problem downstairs that would have easily warranted them calling in a plumber but they offered to try some solutions on their own.  They spent about 3 hours that morning resolving the issue and twice I offered them a willingness to just call a plumber.  They kept at it and probably saved me at a minimum $500.00.  My wife and I were so grateful and hooked them up the next day with a great lunch in our home.
Remodeling baths is a messy and  noisy job.  These guys cleaned up the work areas daily way beyond our expectations and never took any shortcuts in protecting carpet and other surfaces in our home.  The drywall work they had to do was excellent and they were on time every day.  I did not ever think I would find a better group of workmen than Sawdust Therapy's crew but I was wrong.  Tony and Shawn really represented their company well and the skill level they had was awesome.
The job went well and was actually done prior to the estimated time.  We ended up being charged less than the estimate due to the time saved.  I had one follow up call two days after the job was completed and the next day Tony was out to resolve the issue.
Bottom line I almost short changed myself by assuming Carver and Sons was out of my price range.  I am glad I just hung in with their process and let Dave Carver lead the discovery process in assessing our needs and helping me build a budget.  Dave gave me a clear vision of what to expect and the end result.  The other vendor, although very reliable and would have done a good job, did not come close to the detail that built confidence and the vision we needed to make a commitment.
I would urge anyone to give this company a look.  Everyone has a budget and you might be surprised at the flexibility and out of the box thinking someone like Carver and Son's can provide.

  • John has come out to the house twice. I kept in touch with him over a three month period. He was very patient with us.
We didn't think we were going to be able to get everything done that we wanted done. We had to postpone construction for a while.
I called him at the end of May and told him we have decided to go through with the project.
He contacted me immediately. He came back out to the house and got all last minute details on what to do. He also
sent Kim out from The floor store to measure the rooms for new flooring.
Everything has been done and appraisals have been made.
We are getting our kitchen done at the end of june, Due to a party we are holding at our home, we have to wait until then.
I'm sure it will be done to our satisfaction. I am so excited to start working with John and the crew!
