    I came out paralyzed and am still in a wheelchair. They kept blood away from my spinal column for 4 hours. The nerves in your spinal column cannot go over 15 minutes or they would dry out, clump and stick together, causing horrible nerve pain, and many other symptoms. The nurses were never there when they were needed and never on time with my meds. I was dropped by the transporter who was bringing me back from an MRI, in the floor, in the "splits" position.

    .We sat too long before seeing an intake nurse for assessment,despite the fact that we told them she had a heart issue (bi-pass surgery) had chest pains and difficulty breathing and loss of finger dexterity upon arrival. We should have called an ambulance as opposed to driving  ourselves that way she would have been seen immediately and received a quicker and in my opinion a competent initial assessment.
    The emergency admittance nurse we had was very arrogant and rude. My mother was confused and unable to fully communicate her symptoms and this nurse was unwilling to notice or accept that fact and was insistent that she had to tell her in her own words what transpired as opposed to me communicating her full symptoms and  what had transpired with her in the last 12 hours and had prompted our visit to the hospital in the first place. Instead of just listening and hearing me out she argued with me stating that she could not take my account of things and threatened to have me removed. This obviously upset my mother who did not need to be agitated and would not have stayed there if I could not be at her side she hated hospitals and was terrified to go to them. When she threatened to remove me I told her maybe we should just go to another facility at which she replied that's your choice you can leave- in hind site we should have. I knew my mother needed assistance now so I took the hand of reason- catered to her ego so we could see a doctor. The doctor by the way asked me to recount what had occurred prior to our visit obviously he felt that information was relevant. He was able to assertain that my mother was not conveying all her symptoms.
    My mother did not survive her visit and passed away there. To add insult to injury a bill arrived just stating pay this amount I had to request an itemized bill. Upon receipt I noted erroneous charges for medication not received and an IV administered in the emergency room on the day of her arrival on a Sunday. I never left my mother's side the first 20 hours there and no IV was administered. Other charges were suspect but once she was transferred into ICU on Tuesday I have to just assume what she was billed for is accurate.
    The staff in the ICU appeared competent and caring and I have no complaints with her care there. But note visiting hours are imposed so you can not see if they are doing their jobs or not.
    The staff who took care of my mother Monday evening  were lazy in my opinion. When I returned at 6:00am  and asked my mother about her care she immediately needed to use the restroom and said she had been waiting a long time for a nurse. I noticed she was slurring her words and when I tried to help her use the toilet she could not stand so I had to request help for her. When I asked to speak to her nurse  I was told by the staff who did respond to my request for assistance that they switched shifts and her current nurse was in the cafeteria and I had to wait till she finished her breakfast. When I spoke to the day shift nurse about 7:00am or later and asked her why I was not notified that my mothers condition had deteriorated  she said "its not my fault she was like this when I got on shift" ( yes said that in front of my mother) but admitted she had also declined since she assessed her that morning before she went to eat. Which if she indeed did assess her why did my mother need to use the restroom so urgently? Not sure when they switch shifts.
    I had directly spoke to the evening shift nurse before I left and warned her to place the bed alarm on as my mother would try to get up on her own and use the restroom. I also gave her my phone number and specifically told her to call if there was a change. My mom could stand and walk when I left her and could not hardly speak or stand when I returned. Her condition did change and not for the better and yet no one called me despite my request to do so and the fact that I was her health care surragate I should have been contacted my number was still laying on the computer they use to put her vitals in so there was no excuse not to notify me. My mother rapidly got worse that Tuesday morning and was transferred to the ICU. I do believe that had she been monitored properly she would have been transferred to the ICU sooner would it have made a difference I can not say.  But I do know that the staff who took care of my mother that Monday evening and Tuesday morning nurse in my opinion were complacent in their duties and I should not have to wait to speak to a nurse who just got on shift and was already off the unit eating breakfast.
     You are charged premium rates for care I expect the services to reflect that charge and I expect accurate billing and professional care. I would not recommend this facility.
