APaul Davis Restoration of Louisville KYI had a flood in my home on XMAS Eve, two hours after our moving company left, a faucet in our master bathroom failed. Paul Davis was out within three hours and began mitigating the water damage. Because of them I was able to save the walls in my kitchen and the ceiling. They are helping me restore the cabinetry back to original condition and install a new floor in the basement. They are always responsive and very polite and courteous. Jeanette has been with us every step of the way and would always give us a heads up when she needed to come by, very sweet lady, and very good at what she does and extremely hard worker, felt like she was here 7 days a week checking on the house and adjusting dehumidifiers and fans to get maximum results. Can't recommend enough!- James M.

AEverdry Waterproofing of CincinnatiIt went great! It was a full week's job and on the last day they even brought 2 crews to meet their deadline. They were on time every day, worked non-stop and full on every day. The results have been great! The basement is now dry and I don't have to worry about water damage. The battery went out on the sump pump and they came out right away to replace it. They've been great to work with. Even before they started they did a thorough job on assessing the situation and giving us the estimate. I would definitely use them again or recommend them to anyone that needs water proofing services. KSP Verona, Ky- Karla P.

ALouisville Handyman & RemodelingCrew did a thorough job on the repair.?When they came for the first visit, they advised that the area had not completely dried and suggested holding off on the repair for a week to allow an remaining moisture to dry out. ?When they returned, they were able to coordinate all of the work, between drywall and painting in a narrow window of time.- David B.

AHighland Basement WaterproofingIt took us five to six weeks after the initial call, probably because of all the rain and ensuing problems in Louisville. If anything was problematic, it was that we made several phone calls during the waiting time to nail down the work time. When it took place, the workers were efficient and clean. It has been over four months now through a record setting amount of rainfall in Louisville, and we have not had one drop of water. The lifetime guarantee gives us further peace of mine. It is a good company that had been recommended by a co-worker and followed up on Angie's list to be sure. Angie's list is always our back-up before hiring anybody.- Terry S.

AHighland Basement WaterproofingI could not be more pleased with Highland Basement Waterproofing. The leak was controlled by sealing the wall, installing a floor drain and finally connecting the drain to a sump pump. It has now been over 3 months and many heavy rains since the work was done and not a drop of water!- Rick A.

AHighland Basement WaterproofingI called the Highland Waterproofing company requesting an estimate for water leakage in my basement wall. I made an appointment and 'Mike' came out, explained the problem, what was needed to fix the problem and gave me an estimate. Please keep in mind that I purchased this home in Lagrange KY in 2010 and moisture problems were covered up by drywall and some sort of epoxy. My basement flooded for other reasons but now I could see with my own eyes that the builder of this house performed very poor work in the basement walls and tried to hide his shoddy work with epoxy and drywall. The HIghland crew arrived on time, broke down the moisture section of the wall down through the cement floor (approx. 8x9 section), replaced a section of the wall, sealed the problem wall as explained, built up the 'under floor' below the wall and masoned new cement over the floor that was repaired. I received a 'Lifetime Warranty' in the mail to ensure that I am dealing with a professional company. In summary: Moisture problem(s) in a basement can lead to very serious problems if not corrected right away (more water leading to mold, mildew and flooding). A home owner wants to know the company hired is thorough, professional and honest and will fix the problem permanently (if possible). I am so very thankful to God for giving me Angie's List to find Mike and the Highland Basement Waterproofing Company that confirm we still have family company's that are professionals that care about honesty and integrity. Superior Service and I will pass onto my neighbors. Oh yes, be very careful if you purchase a home in Lagrange, KY and ensure you have the 'best' inspector to help avoid nightmares such as this.- Rhonda F.

AHighland Basement WaterproofingI had several good contacts with the business via phone before the work began, and the work crew showed up on time. They got right to work and were very good about explaining to me what was going on. They removed drywall up to 4' from the floor along parts of two walls, jackhammered and dug a trench along the two walls for a total of 26', put down some PVC drain pipe, covered the pipe with gravel, and concreted over the trench. Per Mr. Durham's initial recommendation to me, they removed an old sump and pump located inconveniently in an exterior stairwell and relocated them into the basement corner where they'll be safe from freezing. They affixed a new drain in the stairwell and ran a pipe from the old sump to the new system because the stairwell still collects rainwater. They also drilled a hole thru the house foundation and ran PVC pipe to pump any water from the sump into an exterior downspout. All debris (old drywall, concrete chunks, dirt) was cleaned up and removed to my satisfaction. I did get another estimate for the work from another firm that specializes in basement waterproofing, but their overall rating is lower than Highland's and their estimate was quite a bit higher. The $300 in "waterproofing bucks" that was part of the Angie's List Big Deal just made the price even better!- John F.

AVincent Abell Contracting IncI contacted Vincent Abell Contracting when we found that we had a leak around our chimney. We also wanted our front porch pillars replaced -- they were rotting out, and thanks to some woodpeckers, we've had quite a menagerie living in them, including a family of owls. I've always preferred to work with companies that have their own names in the company title -- I believe that anyone who is truly proud of their work isn't afraid to put their name on the work that they do. I found the Abell company in an internet search, and called them. Our house is thirty-three years old, and is brick on the lower floor, and sheathed with classic vertical wallboard on the upper story. Although we've been diligent about keeping it painted, the vertical wallboard was beginning to rot from the bottom, where the water would eventually creep in. Brad, the Project Manager, and a recent college graduate with a degree in construction management, came out with his father, Vincent. They closely examined the house, and gave me the options that were available. This wasn't an easy job -- the areas requiring the new siding were in somewhat difficult locations, and on the back of the house were about sixty feet in the air, requiring the use of scaffolding. On the ends of the porch, and the scaffolding had to be set up around foundation plantings, including one yew that was as large as a small R.V. The pillars were also large, sixteen feet high and about twenty inches square, and as I mentioned before, beginning to rot. The option that we selected was to have new pillars custom built from a manufactured wood product. Not only was it guaranteed not to rot, it is mechanically stronger that to original wood pillars, and, while they don't carry a great deal of weight, the ARE load-bearing. I talked to two other contractors, but decided upon asking the Abells to do the work. They weren't the least expensive -- in fact, just the opposite, and I am notoriously tight (or thrifty, in my opinion) -- but I thought that the Abells presented the best options, and gave me the complete picture. They were excellent at providing samples of the proposed material, and, unlike the other two contractors, didn't try to 'steer' us toward or away from certain options. The just presented the case, and let us make up our minds. The work commenced, and the gentlemen that did the work were extremely skilled, and conscientious. Not only was I happy with the quality of the work, but the attention to detail was unusual, too, even the little things like policing the area for trash and cigarette butts before leaving for the day. There was never a question about when they'd arrive, either. Everyone with the company was scrupulous about calling ahead to alert me as to when to expect them. (I had requested this.) It may be a trifling thing, but as it was important to me, it seemed to make it important to them, too. The work was completed when they said it would be, and -- this was a first for me, and quite a pleasant surprise -- exactly for the estimated amount. We did a final walkaround with Brad after the job was completed, and (other than finding on small piece of siding under a bush) the job site was clean and tidy, and the work was first-rate. Here's a small detail that I believe is important. In the twelve years that we've lived in Kentucky, we've had a variety of contractors; roofers, asphalt, concrete, and other repair and remodel businesses. The Abells were the first, and I mean the FIRST, that never used any of MY tools. That is something that drives me crazy, and most especially when my tools are used without permission. There's a certain concrete contractor that will get a recommendation (let alone work) from me about the time that I'm named the next Pope because of doing just that. Not only did the Abells not need to 'borry' and of my tools, they took excellent care of their own -- something else that I tend to observe. And for those of you that think that this is a picky little detail, and are amused at my concern for tools, let me just say that this tendency may be testosterone-driven, but it is quite real. Asking to borrow another man's tools is like asking to dance with his wife, or to borrow his car. I'm entirely happy with the work, and in fact have asked them to come back for a smaller job. I'm delighted to have found them, and as the company seems to be multi-generational, I'm confident that they'll be around to handle the contracting needs at our house in the future.- Gordon L.

AAppointment took only a day to get. Price quoted was reasonable. Dave Hardley showed up on time to clean my very dirty old carpet, and was extremely pleasant and professional. He got the job done well and amazingly quickly. Not all stains are gone, but what's left is what would have to be removed with a blowtorch and an exorcism. :) Given the age and condition of the carpet, he did a great job. And then he CLEANED UP AFTER HIMSELF--wowza. He was even nice to my cat. I recommend these folks!

AMy first encounter with United Structural Systems company ( USS) was last year, when I had to face the decision which company I go for foundation repair at my house in West Virginia. It was equal bids on my project from two companies USS and Alltek. Unfortunately for me, I made the decision to go with Alltek Environmental Services company at that time. Foundation repair was finished in August 2019 by Alltek (please read my review, that I placed separately for Alltek). 48,000 dollars payment later foundation been done. I finally be able to place my house for sale this year and come to realization, after inspection is done on the house, that it is a presence of water leak in the storage area. I could not believe, how it is possible, when the foundation repair was just done 8 months ago. I guess, things were not done properly after all. After numerous attempts to contact Alltek company, I finally be able to get the response with another promise to “fix it” in the amount of $9,200 or later for free…if I take off my review of their company from homeadvisor.com. Lack of professionalism, poor craftsmanship and PR was major disappointment for me. To be honest, after I been treating inferiorly by Alltek, I did not have any desire to go back to the same company. I was looking for second opinion how to resolve these issues. I decided to reach out again United Structural (who I was hoped to remember me from last year) and explain my dilemma. Bobby K. (Sales Manager for USS) come to the rescue! He was willing to give me his unbiased opinion on the situation. Bobby K, “commander in charge”, went to the house and informed me, that “downspout lines were never installed, the part on top of the ground went nowhere and tie back patch was poor quality”. Simply put it, Alltek did a mediocre job. I immediately made the decision go ahead and proceed with United Structural Systems company for repair of the mistakes. I cannot say enough praise for the USS company and manager Bobby K. This re-du project was done in timely matter, communication was superior ( needless to say I live out of state and it was never an issue), area after the job was clean up to perfection and…the garage/storage area now look dry bone and beautiful. Awhhhh... maybe I should not sell my house after all?! I have a buyer on the house, and I am closing in 2 weeks and can say with all honesty, I could not do that without United Structural help. It was exceedingly difficult situation for me, and it was resolved by USS company with flying colors. Thank you again USS. I recommend you without any hesitation!!! Your company should be proud of to provide such an excellent service and have knowledgeable, competent and skillful experts. Lana Y, Rochester, NY “We are NY tough”
