  • Our family has had several surgery's at Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville and  have always been pleased with the care we have received.  Staff are attentive, reassuring, knowledgeable, and caring.  All procedures went as planned and resulted in a great outcome.

  • The Physician Assistant Tim was rude, and poked directly onto a staple where one of the incisions is. I was diagnosed with Pneumonia and the PA told me that they were letting me go, than 5 minutes later told me he was keeping me than decided that after 10 more minute he was sending me home.

  • Arrived about 20-25 minutes before appointment.  Sat in waiting area for about 40,minutes before I was even called to do paperwork thus making me 10 minutes late for scheduled appt.  Sat in waiting room for another half hour or so until a man pushing a wheel chair asked me my name.  He was the person who was supposed to do my pulmonary test and was helping deliver people because he thought I skipped my appt.  Apparently the waiting area staff never called to let him know I was in the waiting area.  Once I left the waiting area, the rest of the services were excellent!!!!!

  • I managed to poke myself in the eye with a crochet hook while vacuuming (note: do not hand-vacuum around the knitting basket!!!!). But since I could still see, I figured I was fine and went on to a music gig in Lexington. It was dark, so no one said anything about my eye, although I kept it closed most of the time because it really hurt. Then I stopped in a gas station bath and saw myself in the mirror, and OMG!!!! Horror Movie Eyeball, just in time for Halloween. Anyway, I decided to stop by Jewish/Shelbyville's E/R on the way home, because I was worried. So it was probably 1:15 in the morning but they jumped right to, got me in there, rinsed my eye and did an eye exam and were just super in terms of explaining the risks and what I needed to do for followup care (they even recommended an opthalmologist I could most likely see first thing in the morning). I guess the thing that struck me the most was the wonderful combination of sympathy and willingness to treat me like I wasn't a total moron, even though I'd managed to stab myself in the eye with a crochet hook and then drive around the state for like, 6 hours before seeking treatment ... DUH! Anyway, they handled me just right and I appreciated that they were honest about my needing to go see a specialist in the morning. I've had great experiences there on two other occasions as well, in both cases when I went in to get checked for neck injuries following two different hit-and-run car accidents (that was kind of a bad-karma period in my life). Anyway, on every occasion the staff was great. Even though I didn't have insurance for a couple of those visits, they treated me just as well as anyone else. I've been fortunate to avoid injury the last couple of years, but if something happened again I wouldn't hesitate to go back there.

  • They were a little late to getting to me but other than that they were very friendly!
