ADan HandymanDan has done an excellent work laying a new tile in our dining room and kitchen. He had to replace several water damaged beams and worked in our crawl space to get the floor ready for new tile. He was very thorough and explained his work every step of the way. FV-Tech ConstructionDO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. On 11/16/17 I contracted with Mark Vaughan of V-Tech Construction, Somerset, KY to tear off my old roof and to re-roof my house. I was charged $7500 for this job with $3750 paid at contract signing with the remainder due at completion. Part of the sales pitch was that V-Tech was a local company using local workers. Mr. Vaughan also said there was a 5 year warranty on parts and labor for the job. My contract was evidently then sub-contracted without my knowledge to another local roofing company with which I had no contact. The job was completed and the final payment was made on 12/6/17. All payments were made by check to V-Tech. On 9/14/20 I noticed that a section of shingles had detached and partially slid off of the roof. It looks like that particular section was insufficiently nailed down. This section measured approximately 4'x6'. I called Mark Vaughan and described the problem and he texted me back promising to "check it out this week." After not hearing anything back I again texted messaged Mr. Vaughan on 9/26/20 to see if he had checked it and his response was that "it was on my schedule for Tuesday (9/29/20)." I sent a follow-up text on 10/14/20 to which there was no response. I contacted Mr. Vaughan again on 10/19/20 and told him I really needed to get something done on this before it caused further problems. His response was "I promise you I will get by there this week and get it taken care of." It is now 11/11/20 and there has been no further communication from Mr. Vaughan and no work has begun to alleviate the problem. As far as I know Mr. Vaughan never looked at the problem section of shingles. A BBB complaint has been filed against the company but they have declined to reply to the BBB.- Denny F.

AGoddard Construction Co LLCGoddard Construction Co LLC were exceptionally professional, courteous and timely. Their prices are competitive. I did not chose him as my contractor. They were doing research on what I was going to need in order to even break ground, surveys and things like that. We didn't like his pricing on the house. AVincent Abell Contracting IncInitial quote was very competitive. Estimate to start work ~ 1 month later. There was a delay, but it was due to Lowe's having a backorder on the moisture shield composite deck railings that matched our decking. That was the only hiccup with the whole process and was not in Abell's control. They kept us informed throughout the process. The crew did a 1st class job on the deck construction. It was built on 12" centers to make sure that the composite decking does not bow. Additionally, they took extra care to make sure that the gaps were perfect and boards were straight (this is very difficult with the hidden fasteners). They installed skirting around the entire deck and it looks fantastic. Any issues that we pointed out, were quickly addressed. After construction was complete, I had a few screws that must have been bad. One of the skirt boards was loose. They came back our and fixed it without any problem. They stand behind their work and build it the way they would want it built for their house. I can tell you that the deck that I have is far more than the deck that I had them quote. The fit and finish details exceeded my expectations...and I am very picky.- Chris c.

BThey completed their work as far as the construction of the house. The cost of the house was $83 per square foot. It took them 11 months and 15 days to complete the work which was during the covid pandemic. They also offered to pay for the invoice for the design plan to my house. The reason for the B rating is for the following reasons: I've got a couple of things that my house is still waiting to be fixed including plumbing to the shower and window shutters to be installed. The internet wire that runs to my living room is hidden as it is inside the insulation. We initially agreed on a price for a double sink vanity, but through confusion on their part, I got a single sink vanity. I did not want to make a bigger deal out of things so I settled with one of their remedies which was to add an extension to the vanity for an additional cost of just material. Initially when they poured the driveway, it was not poured correctly. I brought it to his attention and he asked me what I suggested he should do. I asked him if he could redo it and he laughed and said he can't do that. 3 weeks after I moved in to the house, the cracks that were already there got longer and another spot started to crumble. Only after he saw that, he then told me he would fix it. Magnus Home Builders accused my family saying that we sabotage the air conditioning system. They waited until I moved in to tell me they had changed the size of my laundry room. They reimbursed me with credit for my laundry washer.

FThis is a horrible company to deal with and their people are extremely unprofessional and outright rude. After attempting to do business with them, it became clear they do not treat people the way they would want their own parents to be treated. When trying to work out a solution to problems, they hold others to different standards than they hold for themselves. When they failed to do what they said, when they said they would do it, I asked to cancel and refund the deposit. I was met with excuses on their part and wild accusations towards me by them.
