Marble & Granite reviews in Richmond

  • Not good. Lady in office was rude and exhibited poor customer service skills. Refused to give us any guidance related to pricing of granite. Very unusual experience. Later went to a competitor and had no problem.

  • I paid half of deposit in November as i knew what kitchen counter top i wanted. Lexington, KY store close for snow so it was difficult to get hold of anyone for several weeks, on day my granite was to be delivered. I called Louisville, KY store to inquire what was going on as my date of installation was approaching.  A few days on scheduled install, some days weather was fine but store was closed again.
    Finally, counter top installed.
-Installers chipped an edge of the granite but didn't say anything before they left my house.
-My seams are horribly noticeable as the counter is not cut per the discussion with sales.
-Counter top sits uneven from wall. They template cabinets; top has a gap up to a 1/2 from wall in some areas. A rep came out and offered to install a "free" 4" back splash. I told him i wanted the granite to sit flush against the wall. He told me they can not cut granite to fit flush which is why they have customers sign a "waiver." I did not sign a waiver when I left my deposit. (Appears the salesperson forgot to have me sign this document.
-I did speak to the owner, she was pregnant (resides in Louisville, KY). Said she couldn't come to Richmond, KY so she sent a representative.
LAST- I was charged MORE money since it took 3 guys to install instead of 2. ITS THE BAIT AND SWITCH. THEY DO THIS TO ALL THEIR CUSTOMERS. COST IS ALWAYS MORE THAN WHAT YOU INITIALLY PURCHASE. THE OWNER TOLD ME THIS DIRECTLY. THEY CHARGE MORE TO PAY FOR ANOTHER INSTALLER. SO THE $30.00 SQ FEET YOU'RE PAYING FOR IS ACTUALLY MORE. SAM. LOWES INSTALLER TOLD ME THIS, SAID HE HAD CUSTOMERS TELL HIM GRANITE AMERICA CHARGED THEM MORE THAN THE CONTRACT STATED AFTER COUNTER TOPS WERE INSTALLED.

  • GJ was easy to work with, professional and friendly.  He gave me several suggestions for products - surface on the granite & tile backsplash (different than I would have selected but it looks great), new sink and disposal.  In addition I used the plumbers (Medyna Plumbing) and tile installers (Bluegrass Flooring) that he suggested.  I went with all of them and am pleased with quality of workmanship and their willingness to work with my schedule.  Bluegrass Flooring still had an afternoon of work on the backsplash when I had to leave for the airport.  They cleaned up and locked the door as they left.

The product suggestion that I am happiest with is the Suede finish on the granite counter tops.  I did not want the typical flat and glossy surface of granite.  Had it and disliked how much even a water ring from a glass would show from a distance.  There are slight indentations on the surface with the Suede finish but not deep enough to hold dirt.  The swipe of a dishcloth will clean it with no problem.  The end result is that crumbs, water marks, etc. don't show from a distance.  LOVE that feature.  Red wine drips don't stain either.  Ferguson Kitchen and Bath (referred by GJ) has a counter with the Suede finish in White Spring granite.

GJ's crew was also professional and easy to work with and did a good job of cleaning up after each days work. One of their challenges was the unusual shape that I wanted for the island counter.  It was not symmetrical but they cut it to perfection.

My guests rave about how great the counters look.  I am thrilled with the easy of maintaining them and how much brighter the kitchen looks now.

  • Overall, our experience with Hager cabinets was really good! The pricing for the counter tops were slightly higher than other companies we contacted, but the quality was definitely worth the price difference. All of their staff members were very helpful and did all they could to make sure we had our new counter tops delivered and installed by Thanksgiving 2013. Also, Hager helped us order some cabinet hardware and doors to modify our existing cabinets - thanks for the extra help!

  • Very professional, cleaned up after installation, prompt and a pleasure to do business with.  They were very knowledgeable of the different types of stone and why this particular one suited our needs.  The granite was sealed and warranted.  We would definitely do business with this company again.

  • Working with this company was very stressful from the start. As soon as we paid half the amount of the project they increased their quote; raised it by several hundred dollars. This was our fourth quote for the job overall, the first being a very low (verbal) bid. When I spoke with our contact person to express my dissatisfaction she responded as if I had questioned the morality of the pope. She was upset with me and told me that I wasn't even in their office with my wife initially (so wrong). Clearly she had me confused with someone else. Upon speaking with her supervisor I simply expressed my dissatisfaction and was told that we would be made happy. We were not made happy. They didn't do anything they said they would do and I ended up doing a lot of the work myself; things we were not apprised of at the beginning. And although the project is completed I still have carpentry work that needs done.

Throughout the project every time we spoke with a different person we got a different story. The template workers said the base cabinets were a little out of level but it shouldn't be a problem. The installers said it was a problem and we had to go out and hire a carpenter to level the cabinets. An office worker said we could have a plumber come the same day the granite was installed to finish out the sink (and quot;no problemand quot;) but it was a different story upon installation. One person said they would remove the old countertops for a small fee. Someone else told us that they did not do that at all. This was a pattern of working with this company.

We were stressed, confused, perplexed and our kitchen was a mess (unusable) for two weeks. Instead of having them put a 15 yr. warranted sealant on the countertops we decided to do it ourselves since we do not trust this company.

Save yourself some stress and heartache and do not go with this company.
