I live about an hour away from the office and I called two hours before my appointment today checking to see if there were any later appointments since it was possible I would be slightly late due to flooding and road closures in the area due to recent storms. There were not any other appointments, so I did everything I could to leave as soon as possible instead of my normal time in order to compensate for possible delays. The staff member I spoke to was nice and suggested that I call closer to my appointment time if I was going to be late in order to allow for someone else to squeeze into my spot and then I could take their appointment time. Upon leaving for my appointment, I ran into construction on the interstate and immediately called to say that I would be between 5-10 minutes late as I had been advised to do. This phone call was answered by an extremely rude staff member who stated that no one would have told me such a thing and then transferred me to someone else who was also extremely rude. This second staff member informed me that if I would not be seen if I was more than 5 minutes late. This came as a surprise since I have been a patient for 8 months and this was the first anyone had ever stated this. After a futile conversation with this person, I proceeded in an attempt to make the appointment and walked in the office doors precisely 5 minutes late. One staffer was on the phone and the other was checking in another patient. It was 3 minutes later before I was helped and I was then informed that I would NOT be seen! I understand that their time is valuable as a physician, but so is mine as a patient and the drive to and from the office is close to two hours for me. Additionally, the same rude staff member that I spoke with on the phone was the same one that I had provided my updated insurance information to prior to my last visit. She, however, failed to process the information which resulted in unfounded charges and more frustration in trying to sort it out. I was not able to obtain refills for my medications and was told it would be the 2nd week of May before I could be seen. Please keep in mind, this ordeal was because of unpreventable circumstances that resulted in being FIVE minutes late. Unfortunately, these two instances are not the only negative experiences that I have had during my time as a patient. I have requested my records and have scheduled a new patient appointment with a different office.

    UK Health Care
If someone goes to the Markey Cancer Center they can expect to be treated very individually, very personal. The nurses are just terrific. They get to you know by name. People that come from the state's other areas who may have a 2-3 hour drive in, it is all connected with UK Hospital, they accommodate them for the week so that they are not in the motel spending a lot of money. They make arrangements for them. They are just amazing. The place is so big now that they have people in little golf carts that take you from building to building so that people do not have to walk a long distance. It is just a super super experience in having to deal with any kind of illness going to the UK Hospital. They do all kinds of counseling and there are all kinds of seminars you can attend. There are support groups. There is just everything available for anyone that is going through a traumatic illness. They are the best I have ever been to.

    Kinnicutt, Dr. Fred
Dr. Kinnicut spent time talking with both my son and myself.  I never felt rushed.  I always felt like he was REALLY LISTENING to me.
Because of Dr.Kinnicut's skill, and the way he and his sraff treated us, every member of our family has grown  to be happier, and more content. I cannot  recommend him enough.

    Kinnicutt, Dr. Fred
Dr. Kinnicutt first met with both my son and I together. and then tested, interviewed and evaluated my son. When we met with the doctor the second time, he took my son in for a talk first.and then I spoke with Dr. Kinnicutt privately about what his diagnosis was. He told me his diagnosis. He explained what the diagnosis meant and gave me exaples of what that type of behavior would "look like". Then he asked me if I had seen those particular behaviors in my son, and asked if I agreed with his diagnosis. Then he talked about the records from my son's last psychiatrist. We talked about what he agreed and disagreed with the former doctor's findings. The whole experience left me with a wonderful feeling that I was involved with my son's treatment. So often in the past, I have left psychiatrists office feeling like I had no control in the situation. Just someone else with a degree, asking me for a co pay, and trust. Dr. Kinnicutt made me feel like I was a part of it. He really listened and valued what I had to say.

I didn't have any trouble getting appointments, the only thing I didn't like was having to pay upfront, but the amounts were correct after it was filed with my insurance.
