We had repeated problemsin relying on the company's communications to us and with poor customer service. Specifically, on several occasionswe were promised things that never occurred. For example, a crew arrived , without a promised supervisor, to install the gutters and downspouts. Not only had they not been informed as to which gutters to replace, but they had been sent out with the wrong sized product. We frantically called the salesman and the designated supervisor, but they were unavailable for over an hour, while the crew sat in the truck waiting. Then the crew just took off and shortly thereafter the salesman called to tell us they had sent the crew to another job site. Our job had been rescheduled for several days later. At my insistence the supervisor finally called us and admitted that he had mistakenly loaded the wrong-sized guttering on the truck. I asked what could be done and he replied he could do nothing since the crew had already been re-assigned. I had to threaten to cancel the contract before he reluctantly offered a financial discount as compensation for our inconvenience. The installation of the correctly sized guttering was completed five working days later. Two examples of the same kind of problem occurred during the masonry work on our chimney. One day the crew failed to clean up before leaving. Wecalled the absent supervisor who called them back to clean uplater the same afternoon. However a more serious problem occurred during the "weather-proofing" phase of the chimney work. We were told that, since our wooden deck was right next to the chimney, drop clothes would be used to protect the deck from staining by the waterproofing material as it was sprayed on the chimney. As happened with the guttering, initially a crew showed up without any waterproofing material on the truck. They came back the next day without the supervisor and failed to use a drop cloth. Consequently the deck was riddled with unsightly stains. It took four weeks and many calls on our part before the company responded by offering to waterproof the entire deck at their expense. We agreed to this, but on the day it was to be done, the salesman called to say that he had just learned that the stains would fade over time. This being the case, he offered another financial discount to what we owed in lieu of waterproofing the deck. By this time, we accepted his offer and were glad to be done with them. All in all, we had a frustrating experience with a company that appears to stretch a sparse work force over too many commitments and often ends up promising more than it can deliver.

The people they sent were nice, and prompt, partly because I was doing this in the summer when I knew it'd be slower, but I kept feeling like they were trying to pull a fast on on me, and charge me for services I didn't need.  The previous owners had a fireplace insert, and used it to heat their house, so there was a lot of wear on the chimney.  We got rid of the insert, and they removed the old liner, which had damaged some of the ceramic heat tiles in the chimney.  Then they used used rotary tools to clean most of the creosote, which all went well enough.  My problem was that they kept trying to sell me on either:
    a) rebuilding the flue and installing a new fireplace liner- $3,600
    b) putting in a NEW fireplace insert and liner - $4,400
    c) rebuilding the flue and doing a poured fireplace liner with refractive concrete  - $5,200
My problem was that I kept telling the repairman that I didn't need any of these - I will likely use the fireplace 3-4 times per year, with gas logs around christmas, etc.  I ended up speaking to a contractor I know, and he told me that the guy was just fishing for more business.  He said there was no reason, with a gas fire, and as little as I was planning to use it, that I needed to do anything other than repair the flue.  I put a board in to block the flue for now, and put in a set of fireplace doors from Lowes and, and I'll have someone repair the flue in the next few weeks.

Brian did an excellent job.  He had to take off the old damaged brick, and rebuild the chimney from the roof up.  He was very conscientious about picking a compatible color for the brick since the old brick wasn't manufactured any more.  He came on time, did the work in 3 days, waterproofed the brick, left no mess, and gave us a very fair price.  He even  did a little extra job inside our fireplace which we really appreciated.  All in all, it was the best experience with a contractor that we have had in a long time.  I would highly recommend him.

They were prompt and contacted me quickly after I bought the Big Deal for $79 for a Gas Log Fireplace Tune-Up, Cleaning, and Inspection. The owner and the service men were very polite, cordial, and did a great job!

This was one of the best experiences I have ever had with a contractor.  Here are the things that impressed me most.
1.) The representative for the company, Brad Rigby, was foremost very professional, friendly and thorough.  He was on time for all appointments and took a very personal interest in my needs.  He listened to my concerns and addressed each of them particularly as it related to potential damage to underlying structure (roof decking,  trusees, and attic venting).  Brad also scheduled the roof replacement around my schedule so that I could complete other needed repairs prior to his company doing their work.
2.) The estimate provided by Beams was very detailed and easy to understand. Brad discussed each item in detail with me and answered all the questions I had. He did an exceptional job of  explaining roofing terms and requirements in language I understood.  His explanations were so good that it required little additional research on my part .  I had a couple of follow up questions and I found he was easy to reach and also answered these questions to my satisfaction.
3.) The crew performing the work were  employees who were regular workers for Beams.  The crew foreman was very personable.  He kept me informed on the work as it progressed and answered any questions I might have about the work.  He did an excellent job of supervising his coworkers.  I observed all workers taking extra care of my property by placing drop cloths over shrubbery,  placing old material on tarps, sliding and catching old shingles in such a matter that it also protected my gutters and painted surfaces.  Clean up progressed routinely with the company using a "wagon" style dumpster versus a big metal one which some companies use.  This resulted in additional protection for my concrete driveway.  At the end of each day, I observed each member of the crew inspecting my property for any missed discarded items ( nails, roofing, ect.)
4.) The job was not rushed and completed in three days.  This was a big concern to me as I had observed other roofers rushing jobs.  While the workers were very efficient and did not waste time.  You could tell they took pride in what they were doing and made sure they did it right. All shingles were "hand nailed" according to manufacturer warranty requirements.  All shingle lines were straight, flashing was installed without being excessively bent, and finished chalk lines on flashing looked very clean adding to the final appearance of the roof.
5.) Periodic inspection by another Beams employee.  As a quality control measure, I noted that an inspector was sent out to check on the quality of the work.  I met this individual and was also impressed by his work.  In addition, Brad also visited the worksite.
6.) Billing and Payment Terms were accurate.  On any roofing job there is the potential cost overruns.  These were explained in detail in my original estimate.  The only item I encountered was decking replacement which I observed and agreed needed replacement.  The cost for this was very reasonable.  Quality decking material was used as a replacement.  With the exception of the $185 for this, my final bill was exactly as estimated.  Payment terms were very reasonable (upon completion) and in fact Beams did not bill me until 6 day later.
7.) What went wrong?  I can't believe I am saying this "Nothing went Wrong".  Having experienced problems with other companies (particularly roofers), I so far have had no problems with the roof or the company.  I feel like I have found a company to trust.

The gentleman arrived right on time.  He used booties considering he was checking our fireplace chimney...did a complete check including the use of a camera place in the chimney.  He did a thorough job and made some suggestions.  We will certainly use his services as needed.

The Tech (David) arrived on time, he called ahead and then called as he arrived. He was in and out in no time flat and did a very thorough inspection and explained everything to me during his time here. They did a great job and I'd recommend them to anyone I know, thank you!!

Service man was on time. Very polite and gave excellent informatiion that I needed. He explained the working of the dryer vent and that our clothes were not getting dry because of the big clogged up hose mechanism. He performed the work and inspected the outside vent of our home and ran the dryer to see if everything was up and running. We have been very satisfied with the performance of the dryer and feel like we have saved money since the new hose has been installed.

The person who did the work was very thorough, polite, and well informed and, although I had to leave while he was working, my husband told me that he was very pleased with the work done.  The room was left very clean and organized.  Mr. H. even answered my questions about an alternative fireplace to the one we have.  I will definitely recommend this company to my friends.

We had Coffman's clean our chimney and they did an excellent job. We even had a large bird's nest in the chimney and they removed that (as well as the birds -- all survived). One of the birds instead of flying out of the chimney flew down into the chimney and was trapped. They released the flue enough for the bird to get out, quickly captured it, and released it outside. Our den was spotless when they finished -- no dust or evidence that they had been here. They also painted out chimney on the outside and put wire mesh around the cap so we wouldn't have to contend with anymore birds! They were very professional in all that they did and we will definitely use them in the future!
