Chimney & Fireplace reviews in Pewee Valley

The gentleman who came for the sweep portion of the job on June 12 was exceedingly nice. He went over and above, even reconnecting the gas line in the fireplace. I have not been able to use the fireplace in three years! I was very happy.
The second gentleman came about a week later to replace the chimney cover. I'm not sure how long the job took as I was not at home the whole time. But when I came home, except for the shiny new cover, there was no trace that he had been there.
Both gentlemen who came to my home were courteous, prompt, thoroughly professional, pleasant and well-versed in chimneys and fireplaces. My only concern was the price of the chimney cover, as I had been told by a house inspector the job would cost around $300. However, the chimney cover was in dire need of replacing (it was rusty and leaking), and the new cover is outstanding. Well worth the money and I would use them again for any of my chimney concerns.
For the first time since I bought my home, I will be able to use my fireplace with confidence, knowing now it is safe in all aspects.Very happy customer.

The big deal was for an inspection and a sweep.  We only got an inspection and an estimate for repair work.  I probably should have just made an appt. for an inspection.  Not sure if this was a big deal now

Called before they arrived and then arrived on-time.  The individual was very polite and professional.  He took photos from the rooftop to show me the condition of the chimney.  I also watched the cleaning of the fireplace from a monitor.  I would recommend this company.

We had a large cherry tree standing beside a new four board fence and overlooking the railroad tracks and electric lines. I called Sang from their reviews on Angie's list. Wednesday (May 15th). Charlie came out and gave an estimate of $700.00 for the work. I agreed to the job. He called early Friday morning and asked to send a crew out within 30 minutes. They were on time. The tree was 55' tall. With a bucket truck, shredder and five guys, the tree was cut down, the branches shredded, the logs cut into firewood, (which I asked them to take), and the sawdust raked, and put on their trucks. It took Sang less than two hours to do a complete job. I was amazed at their professionalism, their courtesy to us as home owners. We paid the bill, gave the crew a $50.00 tip,  shook hands, and they left. Doing business with Sang Tree Service was a learning experience. As a business owner myself for over forty years I was totally impressed with every aspect of their work.

We had needed to have our chimney cleaned for a while, even though we no longer burn fires in the fireplace. On woody days there was a smokey smell in the house that we knew was coming thru the chimney.
The service man came to the house, inspected the fireplace & chimney. He pointed out some places in the chimney brick that were cracking and allowing water to seep in. He wrote up an estimate for repairs over the initial cleaning through the Angie's list coupon. He cleaned the fireplace & flue. He returned a week or so later to do the outside repairs. Since then we have had no smokey smell in the house. The young man was very polite & professional and we would use this service again if we ever needed it.

I hired Kerry from Warm Hearth after reading all the positive reviews on Angie's List. He didn't disappoint. He called before he came and even arrived a little early, which is nearly unheard of for any service provider. He spent quite a while examining and cleaning the chimney. When he was done, he explained some issues that need to be addressed in the near future, but he did not push me to buy immediately. He explained the issues to make sure I understood and asked that I call him when I'm ready. I absolutely will. Kerry and his assistant were both very friendly and professional, and I highly recommend them.

Repair was accomplished while we were away from home. Chimney Chaps completed the job, cleaned up leaving not a trace and followed up with a phone call to see if we were happy with their work. Well done!

In April 2005 I commissioned Middletown to repair a leak around my chimney. This entailed re-shingling a portion of the roof and the repair/waterproofing of the chimney. The chimney repair cost $731 of the total $1,600 job cost. At the time I was lead to believe that applying a special type of cement was the correct and permanent way to fix the leak. Three years later the leak is back and I find the material, which was installed by a Middletown Roofing contractor, is paper thin and peeling or cracked over the entire crown (top) of the chimney. Upon calling Middletown, I spoke to the General Manager and was told there was nothing he could do as the contract stated that there was a 1 year warranty. On 12/5/08 I wrote the owner, Dan Brown, a letter explaining the situation, acknowledging he had no legal obligation, but I felt he had a moral obligation to help me out. As of this day, five weeks after my letter, Mr. Brown has not had the courtesy to respond to my letter. I must point out that I have been a customer of Middletown Roofing since 1992 when they re-roofed a previous home and they have also done all the work on my current home of 5 years. I m not a new customer! Ironically, if you look under the yellow pages for chimney repair, Middletown is listed when in fact, they farm out the chimney work. The General Manager recommended and gave me the phone number for another chimney repair company that wasn t even listed in the phone book. Another chimney repair company is currently doing the work for over $100.00 less money with a 15 year guarantee. Obviously, I will never use, or recommend Middletown Roofing again. With their contract, you re on your own after one year. I now find that I must have the repair done a second time (correctly) and must also incur the cost of interior repair.

Chimney Chaps is now correcting the poor job done by another company. They are applying a new waterproof crown coating to the top of the chimney that carries a 15 year guarantee, as opposed to the one year warranty of the previous contractor. The owner even knocked off $120 from the quote when he found that the old repair coating peeled off so easily. What was so surprising is he didn't have to do that; I would never have known the difference. It's certainly a testament as to his character and honesty. This has been phase one of a two part repair process. So far I'm very happy with Chimney Chaps.
