5 Tips to Get the Best Handyman Service

Remodeling Kitchen And Bath reviews in Nicholasville

Dusty and Elizabeth , owners of Gurdsman Remodeling provided excellent service. They were the first estimate we received and after meeting with them we knew our search was over. We told them what we wanted and our budget and they worked to make it happen. Dusty is absolutely the hardest working man and makes sure you are satisfied with his services. He came diligently every single day until the project was completed. Elizabeth is in constant contact and addresses any concerns you might have during the remodel. She helps with design and is excellent with handling all the administrative things that come with a remodeling project. Our bathroom is absolutely gorgeous! We couldn't be happier with the final project. We were so pleased we contracted them immediately for a second bathroom remodel in our basement. Again, we were pleased. I highly recommend this company..

Terrific! The results are great, more than we expected as far as how everything turned out, minimal disruption in our daily routine while the crew was in our home. We are very pleased with the end product.

We were not in Florida during the renovation and turned it over entirely to Lou and his team. Lou was very professional and has a good team of subcontractors doing the work. The finished product is beautiful. My only concern was that the timelines were not adhered to as I would have liked. Several things were pushed to the last minute (e.g. getting counters installed) and then held up by the hurricane. So, instead of moving into a totally finished house, we had workers coming and going for several more weeks. I think if we hadn't been long distance we could have assured timelines were met. The work is fabulous and we would use Lou again.

Terrible! The workers were never prepared when they came to work. Two people showed up to stain the pergolas with paint brushes. THEN, one person came to stain a 1600 square foot deck with a SMALL paint brush. It took over two weeks to complete the stain, and the whole project was supposed to take 7-10 days. The stone that was put around the crawl space was the wrong stone and is still not finished. I found out the thatch that was ordered to put on the pergolas was not sealed even though that was stated in the contract. After I contacted the owner of the company who provided the thatch and found out it was not sealed I had Quality remove the thatch. David who is the owner of Quality Construction has told us repeatedly he would give us our money back but we still do not have the money. Legal action is pending.

Top notch professionals. Every step was well-planned and executed to the smallest detail. Lars Lyman, the Project Manager, was thorough and kept me well informed. The quality of work was exceptional. I interview six contractors before settling on Anderson and Rodgers and couldn't be happier.

All went well except the counter/dishwasher connection.  Apparently they did not have the proper screws and used  a screw that they cut.   The screws rusted and the dishwasher worked itself loose in a matter of a few weeks. As a result the top of the new stainless steel dishwasher was scratched by the rough cut screws.
When I called the general contractor back to repair they showed the screws to me and explained it was done when the granite was installed.

After visits from two other contractors/handymen who promised estimates but never provided them or returned my calls, Mr. Ockerman from House Doctors was a godsend!!  He came to the house to establish the type and amount of services needed, then provided me a verbal estimate by phone.  The range/oven removal was being dovetailed with replacement of vinyl flooring in the kitchen, and he coordinated his work with the carpet/flooring company I had selected so everything would run smoothly.  One of his contractors, Joe, came at the time expected, did the work in a professional and timely manner, and left everything neat as a pin!!  (It's been my experience that you often have to perform cleanup after work has been completed, but Joe didn't even leave any sawdust!)  Mr. Ockerman himself was on hand to help with the old range's removal, while Joe handled the removal of the cabinet beneath, the shelving and new end wall for the remaining cabinetry, and the new electrical outlet.  And I really appreciated Mr. Ockerman's follow-up call to check that I was satisfied with the work.  I would recommend House Doctors to anyone needing handyman work and intend to use them for other jobs that I have.  In fact, I already have a call in place for some plumbing work!

I got a quote from them in late August to fix and install several things on a rental property. John showed up promptly to assess the work and gave me a very reasonable quote the next day. I called in late September to set up the appointment to do the job. John told me that they were busy that week and he would call me back the following Monday. That Monday came and went with no returned call. On the following Friday, I called back to ask about setting up the job, and was told that John would call me back. The next week went by with no return call from John, so I called them again and was told that John would call me back, which he did not. This scenario repeated for the next several weeks with me calling and John not calling me back, so I finally gave up and went with another plumber. I can only guess that they did not want to do the work that they had quoted, but did not want call me back to tell me this. It seems that they wanted me to give up and go away, which is what I finally did.

John was very professional, prompt and very clean.  When he left there was nothing for us to do but hang the towels.  We probably could have had work done cheaper but would have involved replacing floor tile and dry wall work, moving the plumbing and painting - which would have taken days.  Bath Fitters does custom made installations so nothing had to be redone.  They are the only ones we could find that did that, as well as made in America.  Very positive experience.  Done in one day.
