    The Asphalt Guy
Paved driveway 2-1/2 months ago. Already have weeds pushing through and several cracks forming. New cracks show up daily, or existing ones get longer. Had a section off side of drive where boat was kept. This had some crushed lime on surface. I wanted this paved, and told the contractor that he needed to place and pack gravel in there for a base, to which he replied " I'll put some rock in there first". There was nothing put there but asphalt, and the company rep denies ever saying he would pack rock in that area. My boat in now sinking into the asphalt approximately an inch or so. I (stupidly) also had them seal the drive, as my schedule is very busy at this time. Well, the day they scheduled the sealant job, they showed up that evening, and proceeded to do the job in the dark. As expected, there is little sealant on the driveway. I called their office last week and explained these issues, to be told i would be contascted to arrange for a rep to look at and address problems. I have heard nothing in 1-1/2 weeks and now they don't answer their phone. They come into neighborhoods and hoodwink several homeowners into getting their driveways paved, then move on. The main reason I used them is that other contractors could not get the job done for several weeks, and I was impatient to have it completed. They said they could do it the next day, so I made a big mistake by letting them proceed. PLEASE, do not waste your time or money with these crooks!!! They use inferior product and do an inferior job of paving!

    Kentuckiana Paving
I contacted the company by phone to come give me an estimate on paving my gravel driveway. The owner came out and assessed the work to be done, take measurements, etc.  After negotiations we arrived at what I thought to be an acceptable price of $1800. I had no experience with this type of job so I didn't know for sure if that was reasonable. Anyway, he told me exactly how the job was to be done. He scraped the gravel off the driveway then poured the asphalt. He said he would put about 3 in. of the product down. After they left and I went out to inspect it and it did not appear to be close to 3 in.  My neighbor had his driveway done at the same time so I asked his opinion and he agreed that it was not as much as we were told. After a few weeks several significant cracks appeared in the asphalt and the product had many places where the asphalt was rough. About half of the drive was uneven and now the gravel underneath is coming through.  I made several calls to the owner. When I finally was able to talk to him about the problems he said he would come out and inspect it. He did not show. Another time I spoke with him he said someone stole all his equipment (several pieces of heavy duty trucks, etc.) and he would be out when he got them back. I never heard from him again. The work was sloppy, subpar and very unprofessional. The crew left their trash in my yard and the owner seemed to be miffed when I asked him to pick it up. I am so sorry I used this company, a lesson learned.  I would caution anyone looking for a paving contractor to run far away from this one.  A scam for sure!.

    Steve Dean Construction Co
Better than expected. I like how Steve uses common sense advice to recommend and/or educate me about ideas that I have. He isn't just a builder or remodeler that is going to do it because he's getting paid. He wants to do the best job possible and with over 25 years of experience, he has alot of good advice for how best to do things. He provides quality craftsmanship either by performing the work himself or overseeing his sub-contractors very closely.
