  • Excellent! If weekly service is disrupted for any reason (weather, holiday, etc), Jason always, always corresponds as to when he will be servicing the yard next. He also advises of anything out of the ordinary he observes in the waste (worms, diarrhea, etc.) in the event a vet visit may be necessary. I also suspect he returns my garbage bins to the garage (no he does not leave the pet waste in my bins, it's just that the garbage collection and his visit is on the same day of the week) as the bins are always back in place when I get home from work. Couldn't be happier with this service.

  • My German Shorthair Pointer, Darcey, visited Sam Russell's in November for grooming, and was boarded for several days in December. Both experiences were wonderful. The groomer did an excellent job giving her a de-shed for her coat and a Dremmel job on her nails. During her visit for boarding, she was able to attend their doggie daycare program. I know Darcey enjoys her visits there because she loves going back and other patrons always praise Sam Russell's shop. Finally, I love their consignment shop with a unique selection of great products that I have not found in other pet stores.

  • My family had just moved into the area and we heard that the ticks here in the Louisville were a nuisance. So I tried to be proactive and I bought our dog, Darcey, flea and tick medicine at a pet store to put on the back of her neck. However, my husband kept finding ticks on the poor dog. Her skin became bright pink and her ears were hot and red with a lot of flea dirt. I had cleaned out her ears Sunday night, but when I got home from work that Monday, the poor dog was just scratching and shaking her ears. She was miserable.
I called the Elizabethtown Animal Hospital at 5:30pm, and asked the receptionist how soon I could get an appointment. She said I could walk in with her as long as I was there before 6:00pm. By the time I found the leash and raced her up to the office, it was 5:55pm. I thought for sure the doors would already be locked. I sheepishly entered and apologized to the receptionist to walk in just before they closed. I was so surprised at how reassuring and kind she was.
Another lady with a dog who was having very serious issues was taken in right away, but Darcey and I still only waited a short time. I noticed how large the waiting area was and how the building looked very new and clean. I apologized again to the technician for coming in last-minute, and she also reassured me that it was okay and not a problem. Within 8 minutes the vet walked in to examine Darcey. He was very kind and gentle with the dog. I was surprised that he did not and quot;bashand quot; the over-the-counter flea medicine I bought. I brought in the box for him to examine. He did say he had another brand with a mix of different medications, however it had one of the same ingredients in the box I bought. So, he explained we would have to wait at least three weeks before he could prescribe another flea and tick remedy. He confirmed that the tick infestation in the area was a difficult nuisance. After examining Darcey, he gave her a cortisone shot and a prescription salve to put in her ears.
On the way to check out with Darcey, I sadly discovered the other dog had to be put to sleep because of heart failure. I felt so sorry for the lady and her husband, but I noticed how kind and genuinely concerned the staff treated them and answered questions about handling the pet's remains. Overall, I would highly recommend this practice.
As a side note, I purchased a flea and tick treatment at a garden center to spread in the yard. Since then, I have not seen any ticks on the dog. So, if you are experiencing that problem here in Louisville, I would highly recommend treating your yard along with getting a certified vet to treat your pet.

  • Always professional and well done. Tracy has the experience previously working dog shows winning awards. I've been using Clippet Pet Salon since my older dog was a puppy, now 11 years old. Won't go anywhere else. For more details, read above review for details.

  • Quick, efficient, and friendly. Having a new kitten and not wanting to de-claw her - they took the time to explain other options to me, clipped her nails for me, and gave me tips and tricks for doing it myself at home.

  • She is amazing. Since she is an hour away she will email me when she will be in the area in case our horses need any treatment. Her prices are also very reasonable. I can't say enough nice things to say about her. She is very intelligent, personable, and very caring with the animals.

  • I brought my female kitten in for her first check up, and spay. I also recently 'adopted' my son's adult male cat from his mother's house where it had been living, so I brought him in for a wellness exam. Everything went fine with the female. They offered a lot of expensive optional treatments that could have driven the price up another $200. I opted out on all of them. I appreciate that they sat down and explained to me about all of the optional treatments, how much that they cost, what the benefit was, and what the risk of not taking the treatment was. My kitten is none the worse for NOT having the optional treatments and tests. But then again she was healthy to start with.

My adult male was a different story. He had never been to the vet and he was poorly fed and cared for at his old home. While the doc gave him an overall clean bill of health, he had very rotten teeth, which caused the follow up dental visit (at the same place). Again they sat down with me and went over options for surgery and I opted out of another $200 worth of tests and treatments. The surgery went off without a hitch. Since then, he has started to smell better (his teeth were so rotten, he couldn't properly clean himself) and he is slightly more energetic.

After both surgeries, I was given a regime of home treatment, to continue care, and a follow up appointment was scheduled for the doc to make sure everything was going OK. The cost of the follow up and the home treatment were included in the original surgery prices. The home regime included pills and a syringe (with no needle) of antibiotics, both to be administered orally for the kitten, and two syringes, one of antibiotics, the other of pain killers, as well as and quot;prescriptionand quot; soft food for recovery of the teeth pulled. Both cats also got a single pill for tapeworm which cost something like $1.50 each (cheap)! The doc also 'prescribedand quot; fish oil over their food, but she told me rather plainly that we can buy it cheaper at the supermarket than she could provide for me.

Other things of note: One of the reasons I chose these folks is that I work long hours, and they are open late one day a week, and open on weekends. They are HAPPY to work around your schedule. Throughout the experience the really treated me, who they had never met before, as a VALUED CUSTOMER, not as a nuisance, or as yet-another-guy-to-be-dealt-with-before-I-can-go-home. They were going through construction, but even then the place was relatively clean. Everyone was personable, including the other animals and their staffs (pet and quot;ownersand quot;). Based on experience, I plan on going back for any future vet needs. I just hope it doesn't keep costing so much! $1300 right before Christmas really takes its toll. I have no idea if these prices are average or not.
