    I called Tom a good detective. He patiently checked out all potential sources of sound, which was sounding like it was coming from the thermostat. He found the new carbon monoxide detector left by the last service person ( of which I had forgotten). It needed a new battery. He was very professional and helpful, checking replacement batteries for me.

    Bid was about half for a well known brand of what another company wanted for an off brand with bad reviews. Tom was able to jump start our dying system twice while we were waiting for our loan to be approved. Crew arrived on time, and were very courteous. They thoroughly explained the new system and what we needed to do to keep it running. Didn't balk at all when we asked them to install a thermostat that we purchased.

    This is the first time I've used Precision-Air and I have to say I was very pleased by both the professionalism of the service as well as the cost. My A/C was working but not cooling. A capacitor needed to be replaced and, in addition, Mr. Krahl re-insulated the pipes leading to the house. The total cost for both parts and labor was $180. which I feel is more than reasonable. Best of all, he wasn't pushing the typical contract that so many Heating/Cooling companies do these days. He also mentioned that a yearly furnace check-up is only $99 and they will also check your central A/C unit as well for no additional cost. I will definitely be using Precision-Air Heating & AC in the future.

    Bruce, the owner, told me to check the batteries in the thermostat first in case that was the issue. When it wasn't, he was at the house within a couple of hours and got the problem resolved quickly. This is my second use of this company (the first for an A/C issue). Both times I've been very satisfied, am told what the issue is, am comfortable having him in my home and have been very happy with the service and price. I would definitely use this company again.

    TEEGARDEN HVAC

    I used Teegarden only because my homeowner's warranty company said I had to.   I had already had another company come out and explain the problem.  I waited 2 days after my first call to Teegarden and paid $65 for them to come and tell me what I already knew.  I had to call back the next day to get a quote to clean the boiler and schedule another trip.  They quoted me $495.  Waited another 3 business days.  They came to clean it but said they didn't want to do anything until the chimney was cleared out.  I told them I took time off work and they needed to clean it that day.   They stayed to clean it, but said it would be another service call fee for them to come out and turn it on after the chimney was cleaned. I agreed to that, but after they cleaned it out, they said they couldn't even put it back together until it dried out even if the chimney was finished.   Two more days went by, and my chimney work was completed Friday morning.   Teegarden was scheduled to come back on Monday.  Temps were dipping into the 20's over the weekend.   I called on Friday morning and begged that they come out since the chimney work was done by 10AM.   They said it was unlikely and Myia the scheduler would call me back by 2:30.  Never got a call back from Myia.   Stayed in a hotel over the weekend hoping my pipes wouldn't freeze as I now had been 10 days without heat.   Teegarden came back on Monday, put the boiler back together and turned it on.   They said the readings were abnormal and wanted to run it for 24 hours and come back Tuesday to recheck it.  Tuesday passed with no word from Teegarden.  I called again on Wed morning and was told they would come that day.  I said I needed 20 min to leave work and get there.   They called around lunch and said they were on the way.  I rushed home only to wait another hour before I called again.   They finally showed up and there were still abnormal readings.  They spent about an hour downstairs and told me they finally got the readings into the normal range, although they were still high.   I asked what they did and they said they needed to take it apart again because they had not cleaned one part of it good enough.   Final bill to me was $700.  In addition to the $495 original quote, they charged me $120 in labor and $85 in parts for the aluminum vent pipe that I insisted they change which probably cost closer to $40 if I had to guess.   I am not at all comfortable that my system is working correctly. On the way out, they suggested that I come downstairs periodically to check to make sure there are not flames coming out of the bottom of my boiler.  This tells me that they were not comfortable with the work they did either.

    Although everyone I worked with was very nice and fairly knowledgeable, customer service is lacking and I have doubts about the quality of the job they did for me.

    Schneller Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning

    As a result of a special offered on Angies List for furnace tune-up I contacted Schneller Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning. Alex B (Service/Maintenance Supervisor) arrived on time and immediately went to work checking the furnace, CO levels and all mechanical components. He vacuumed the area beneath the furnace and gave me a running evaluation. The furnace is over 30 years old and has a cracked heat exchanger but CO level was OK, air cleaner is not working and condensation pump non operational. Recommendation was that I should start looking for a new furnace. I am in process of getting bids. Schneller is definitely on the list because John K came out the next day to give their bid. Alex and John are thorough professionals, courteous and very knowledgeable. I would be confident in recommending Schneller to anyone. I don't know yet who will get the job but I appreciated all the information and attention that was afforded to me during this process.

    It went quite well. The scheduling was fine. They called us and we mentioned a good date. They came out. They were nice and friendly. We got a coupon on Angie's List for tune-up and they made sure my furnace was working. They did our air conditioner back in spring. He seemed fair. They were here on time.

    I called Guthier because I was told he would install my new Nest thermostat. I had to leave a message, but his wife called back soon and apologized. We were able to schedule him quickly and Jesse installed the thermostat and explained it to me. He wasn't sure about connecting it to my phone, but he admitted that and didn't try to fake it. I went online to figure that out.
    He reminded me that he had installed my old thermostat in 2008 when working for someone else. I'd thought he looked familiar. He's been in business for himself for four years. I will switch to him for furnace maintenance soon since my previous provider is retiring.
    Overall, excellent experience.
