    Merkle Lawn Care Company
Beware of Merkle Landscaping The short version- work that was pointed out during the walk through with both the company representative and the men who performed the job was not completed. When asked, the company refused to negotiate a settlement. Update- 45 days later, all but two of the small trees and shrubs in the area are growing back. The full story- When I walked the job with the Merkle Landscaping representative I specifically pointed out three honeysuckle shrubs to be removed that were the reason why I hired them. I said that my adult sons and I had broken two shovels trying to dig out the bushes and that was the reason I needed to hire outside help. When the contract was written it did not stipulate specifically the removal those three shrubs, but it also did not say that the workers would only use hand tools. It said what the crew daily rate was. Neither party stipulated that the crew would be two men with hand tools or two men with a stump grinder. When I walked the job with the crew, I again pointed out that the bushes were the most important part of the job. They worked very hard and did a good job but left the three stumps from the shrubs after cutting off the branches. They have already sprouted and will be the same size next year. The problem was that the workers did not speak enough English to understand that this was the beginning point of the job. Our communication was limited, so the stump removal was missed again. When I called the Merkle representative I offered to pay more for them to get rid of the stumps but I asked for a concession to pay half the hourly rate for the extra work. My offer was turned down by the Merkle representative because in the contract it says that they are not liable for anything that is unseen or not marked. The pine stump from the tree I had removed years ago was clearly visible and located within 5 feet of these three shrubs. I mentioned that the large pine stump could stay because it was dead. Pine trees with more than a foot diameter at the base have root systems larger than 5 feet, so the shrubs were likely to be tangled in the roots of the former tree. Also, I mentioned breaking two shovels trying to get the shrubs out. When you agree to a contract with Merkle Landscape make sure that you stipulate specifically what you want done. The workers did the job as described to them by their boss, but my desires for this job were lost in translation and the job that I requested was not the job completed. Before you commit to any work with this company understand fully that if the job you want is not done, the owner will not make it right. Update: 45 days later all but two small trees are growing back.

    Whitehouse Landscapes
Mike did a great job pruning and shaping 5 very overgrown Burning Bushes. He found that they also have a disease which is causing many dead branches. He also removed the last of our leaves in our yard and landscaping and everything looks neat and tidy! He's a very nice guy who is very knowledgeable about all things landscaping and plants and he has great ideas. For the future, he will be taking over treating our Ash tree to prevent Ash Borers from killing it and will be doing all of our landscaping tasks and lawn mowing. I feel lucky to have found him! (On Angie's List, of course!)

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY George was to dump dirt in my yard but he dumped fill -- large cement chunks. While dumping the fill he tore up my yard -- ruts that are a 12-16 inches deep. He has not fixed it. He also is not answering my calls or text messages. See pics.

    Loyal Green, LLC
Excellent choice for all of my lawn care needs. My partner is in-and-out of town a lot for work so my lawn care needs are constantly changing. Loyal Green is always dependable and easy to contact. I love the ability to pay my invoices online and the crew is always super friendly. On several occasions in early Fall, they even knocked on my door to make sure I wanted them to mow (grass wasn't very tall) when they could have just mowed and sent me the invoice. These guys are not out to just collect a quick buck. They are true professionals who can easily adapt to your changing needs!

    ONE MAN & A MOWER
John has been doing my lawn now for 2 years. Yep 2 years. And after 2 years, I can not rate him high enough. If you are looking for someone reliable, professional, reasonable and good, you found him! I don't believe you could find someone better all the way around. He's a gem.

MADDOX GARDEN CENTER & LANDSCAPING, INC.
The Maddox Garden Center crew were fabulous.  Greg Traylor worked with me to make sure that the timing of the work fit my busy schedule and was prompt about letting me know of changes due to weather.  The work started on 7/15/2015 and completed on 7/17/2015.  Sabin Brothers and his helper were extremely professional, hard working and took every ounce of care to ensure that the work was satisfactory to my liking.  Sabin explained every step of the process and asked the right questions to ensure that I liked the way the construction was being done.  During the construction, Sabin was meticulous to ensure that every brick was laid level, often standing back and looking at the retaining wall from different angles.  At the end of the project I was left with an absolutely beautiful and functional retaining wall and new shrubs.  They were careful to clean up everything in the yard and leave my yard in the same shape that they found it in before starting the project.   I have and will continue to recommend Maddox Garden Center to friends for landscaping work due to the professionalism and level of quality workmanship.

    Loyal Green, LLC

I signed up for the $40 special and received a phone call the same day.  Guys came right out and cut the lawn.  Looked great, liked the responsiveness so I signed up for lawn service.  Our lawn is larger than a $40 cut so paying more for on-going service.

    Yardscapes By Dianne LLC
I found her on Angie’s List years ago and I have been using her ever since. The cost is $195 per spring cleanup visit. The price varies from time to time depending on what I wanted them to do, but this was very reasonable. The workers are wonderful. They leave the area beautiful. They cleanup and everything is spotless when they leave. I would definitely recommend them to a friend.
