  • This ended up being a insurance claim. Restorative was expeditious about coming out for the initial clean up. We were told that they could do the the construction part but we're pretty busy and could come out and work on short notice. We decided to do that. They never could fit us in so they they finally started work a month and a half later. When I signed the contract Keith gave me the insurance check and said that the first installment, 1/3 payment, would be made after carpet installed, second payment was due after hardwood completion and final payment when we were completely happy with the work. Needless to say we were not happy. The hardwood went great and looks great. Completely happy. The carpet install was another story. Restoraid contracted Carpetland to do the work. Prior to the install you could not see a seam in our refinished basement. We selected the same carpet that was water damaged and after installation you could see 3 large seams the most visible right in the middle of the TV viewing area. This seam was also hard due to excess glue. We pointed this out to Keith who made excuses for the installers. We got our insurance company involved and had a 3rd party inspector look at it. He said the work was "industry standard". What low standards this industry has as well as Restoraid. I told Keith that I was unhappy and did want to make the 3rd payment as previously discussed. We got a letter threatening turn over to a collection agency. So much for a handshake and verbal agreement. We made the final payment to avoid a legal fight but now have to live with what I consider sub par standards. We went from no visible seams to 3 visible seams right in the middle of the room. I must say that one shining point of the whole process was Ken who was prompt, courteous, and professional. He did the drywall work, paint and plumbing.

  • Shane was called into the middle of a delicate situation with water and mold damage.  He was there the next day after I contacted him, was prompt and professional.  I found him through Angie's List and a friend that I trust very much also recommended him and his work.  I only wish I had started out with him.  The job would have been done sooner and he provided that personal service that I was not getting from the original company.  Live and learn.  He will be the first call I make if I ever find myself in this situation again. I wanted to leave feedback because of the professional manner in which he handled the situation.

  • They work was performed in a timely fashion as proposed.  When the drywall was removed there were some cracks in the concrete and they went up the wall further than 12 inches.  Also the mold was not black mold so I could have removed it myself.  I did not find this out until the work was almost completed.  They did bring in machines to clean the air over a period of several days.  The machines were very loud and kept us out of room.
The staff was professional and completed everything according to their estimate.  I think the price was high for the work performed, but they don't have a lot of competition in the area, and I did not call other vendors.

  • Most of the work they did was either redone or needs replacement, The workman ship was poor, they didn't show up half the time, and the materials they used were inferior.

UPDATE: They were supposed to find the source of a water leak that was causing our floor to rot. Supposedly it was a problem with the roof that they said was fixed. One year later I had them come back because the floor was rotting again. This time they said it was termites. We had the house sprayed and bait traps but around the house. Now, 1 year later, the wood is starting to rot again. These people did not show up when they were supposed to, they used very inferior products and obviously never fixed the original problem.

  • This was one of the worst experiences we have ever had with a contractor. It took a total of four months to get work done that should have taken less than a week. We have already had to replace one of the faucets. We had two appointments with plumbers that didn't show up. The roofer took three phone calls and 8 days to show up to fix what was causing the damage. The floor guy told us he replaced the floor boards he had been told about but really didn't check to see if any more were bad.The linoleum is cheap garbage that already has torn where it was not installed probably by a chair being scooted back from the table. When they put the carpet back down in the living room they did not stretch it so there is a wrinkle by the entry way. There is more but you get the idea. This experience quite frankly is why I have joined Angie's List. The worst part of this is I work in an insurance agency and the salesman from Brock actually comes in to try to get us to recommend them. One of the other people in our office family member bought a house that Brock worked on and they had to redo most of what was done there too. I also learned that they do not use their own employees but hire sub-contractors. Brock was made aware of all of our problems and did nothing to fix them. Since the money for these repairs came out of my pocket, I did not have an insurance company to back me up so the repairs of the repairs have also cost me.

  • This started out very well - Dan the owner responded quickly but there was not much he could do on the first call. He turned the job over to his Kentucky representative who did most of the work. I have few complaints about the work but the job was not cheap. The biggest complaint I have with this company is they do not return customer phone calls. I called the main office and complained and was told by the representative that he was out of the area and did not get the call. However, the phone rang and his recorded message came on saying he was with a customer and I should leave a message. That does not sound like a message not received.

  • He was very professional and incredibly nice. He explained everything and let me turn off the fans so I could sleep as long as I kept them on during the day. It ran for three days and dried up everything. It was very stressful and he made it much less so. He is very kind and he explained everything so I recommended him to everything. He also gave me other flooring tips such as the line that runs from the ice maker to the water supply usually breaks and is a slow leak. He told me to watch out for it and replace it.

  • Jerry and his guys were out here within an hour sucking up the water and pulling up the carpets. They set up industrial fans to dry out the area as much as possible. They will help you with everything you need until the problem is resolved. They helped me with finding new carpet to purchase, they helped me move all of the furniture in the house. This is just an amazing service. They work with your insurance company and Jerry has an enormous amount of patience when dealing with you insurance company. They also did repair the burst pipe and added extra protection so that this doesn't happen to me again.

  • company did a good job but my issue is with price. when the contractor arrived I asked for a verbal estimate of what it would cost to dry the carpet. I was told it would be about $700. I then received a bill for $1,386.14 with no itemization showing how this lump sum was arrived at. I called their office and they were reluctant to provide me with a detailed bill. I finally got an itemization which is impossible to reconcile. this company subcontracted reinstalling the carpet and when that contractor did the work i asked him if his bill would be separate and he told me he collects from the company and I would not be billed separately. i have now received a bill for $140.05 for the subcontractors work. if you use this company make sure you get a firm estimate up front.
