    Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine
During this time frame, had xrays, mri's, physical therapy and injections. Had only temporary relief. Discussed surgery, but doctors deemed that as a last resort. After I met with two other doctors in the practice, at the suggestion of Dr.s McClung and Bartsch, it was recommended that we proceed with surgery which has been scheduled, but not yet performed. In my opinion, this practice is very professional, friendly and provides the necessary information to the patient to evaluate before making a final decision regarding surgery.

The staff seemed very competent and organized. The office seemed to be run very efficiently, and effectively. The Physician was very attentive and had an excellent bedside manner. I would absolutely send my children here.

    Sommerkamp, Dr. T Greg
I was very pleased with Dr. Sommerkamp and his office. He helped me by treating me even though I did not have insurance. He has a therapist in his office and she also gave me a discount and treated me. I did have to pay for services when I went into the office but they gave me a discount and I was able to use my credit card at each visit. Very nice practice.

We are really impressed with them. They are just very thorough; I have always been pleased with them. I am sort of new at the therapy part, but I am still impressed. They give me a printout every time of all the exercises that we went through without me asking for it. So that I know exactly what I am supposed to be doing in between the visits, and I like that; they think of that for me. Dr. Siegel is just fantastic. I don't know how many things that I can talk about that he is good at. With my daughter's surgeries; it was just beautiful, and everything worked just fine. But still I haven't seen my new orthopedic guy over there enough to really tell a whole lot; it was pleasant. But Dr. Siegel is head and shoulders above anybody else that I have ever dealt with. I don't know so much about the effectiveness of treatment; it worked for my daughter, there were no complications, and everything was fantastic. It is working so far for me, but I am in the middle of the therapy, so I don't know. This is the thing that could be fixed more definitively and faster with surgery. The thing that I do like is that in this environment of trying to take care of our own healthcare and manage it and the expense and all of the other stuff; they are treating it conservatively first knowing the complications and the costs involved. The first thing a lot of surgeons think of doing is cutting. Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center is making an effort not to go that route, because they know that overall that's going to be more expensive and more debilitating for me in the short term. So we can fix it without surgery. I like a surgeon who doesn't want to necessarily see everything as a cutting opportunity. At the moment, my insurance does not cover the physical therapy part. I have been to a lot of places where if my insurance doesn't cover what they charge, it is just tough luck. But here if my insurance doesn't cover the physical therapy; they modify the expense so it is fair for everybody.

The front sraff (at desk) are not very friendly, get the impression that they don't like their jobs. We only had a short wait before going to the back, back staff was friendlier, mor informative and helpful. Nurse Practicioner for MD was very nice. compassionate and professional.

    Cincinnati Spine Institute
I was speachless that that was the most help that an orthopedist could give me. I got the strong impression that because I didn't need surgery or have something that was visible on the MRI, that the doctor was uninterested. The fact that I'm fairly young and active and the pain was impacting my sleep and life, was my problem - not his. If the Cincinnati Spine Institute can only help you if you need surgery/epidural injections, then they should say so on their website. I would have looked for a practice that practices more modalities.

I have gone to him several times with my hand. I think he's an excellent doctor. He has always treated everything that I went in for. I was quite satisfied with whatever he did. I had trigger thumb. I could bend it, but I could not straighten it back up again. He gave me an injection, and whatever caused the problem dissolved. My thumb is working properly now.

    John J Larkin MD
Although this report is about Dr. John J. Larkin, he has a right hand man named Avery Kondik. I believe Avery is a PA. I understand he teaches at one of the hospitals or universities. Avery, like Dr. Larkin, is also very knowledgeable and personable. You cant miss him - he is the tall guy and allows Dr. Larkin to be in two places at once. I dont know the future date, but I will probably have to have my left knee replaced some time in the future. Dr. Larkin is the Dr. I will select. Additionally, Dr. Larkin has always been very good to answer questions, no matter how simple or involved.

I had destroyed the ACL in my knee. I went to Dr. Larkin to repair/replace it.

He performed surgery and worked with me through physical therapy and until my knee was completely healed.

Dr. Larkin was always a perfect gentleman who was willing to take as much time as needed to explain everything to me until I understood it.

My wife scheduled an appointment with another doctor's office for a second opinion. We made the appointment on a Tuesday afternoon and were told we needed a copy of her medical records and x-rays from the other doctor. So the next day I called to request a copy of her records. I got a voice mail message stating that it could take 5-7 business days to get copies and to leave the name, date of birth, and phone number for the person needing their records. I was very careful to speak distinctly, spell my wife's name, and gave her date of birth and phone number twice. I received a return call/message later that day that they could not find my wife in their records, maybe they had the wrong date of birth or name spelling and that it would cost $26.00 to get copies of her x-rays. I call back on Thursday, again getting voice mail. I leave another message speaking distinctly and leaving all information two times. I also stated we would like to just have the x-rays on a CD. Later on Thursday my wife receives a message on her cell phone stating that they I had not left a number on for them to return our call and hopefully the number they were calling was accurate. They wanted her to know they had found her in their system, but it would still cost $26.00 to get her x-rays on CD. So, I call back on Friday...once again getting voice mail. I stated that I did not want the x-rays, but still needed the medical records by Monday afternoon. My call was returned. I finally got to speak to a person, but was told that I could not get the copies by Monday as she was very backed up and there were a lot of people in front of me. When I ask if I could get them by Tuesday morning she said maybe but she couldn't guarantee it, but if my new doctor's office needed anything they could fax it to them. So, I call the new doctor and they agree to call and request the records get faxed over. Then on Tuesday, the day of the appointment, Commonwealth Orthopedic calls and leaves a message on my wife's cell that they had faxed over the records, but she could come pick her records if she wanted. The whole ordeal was a joke.
