Fireplace Repair reviews in Erlanger

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Roger was a true professional. We brought him in based on a recommendation and could not be happier. We brought him in to clean an existing chimney as we had a strong smoke odor permeating our house. Roger came in and found safety issues and recommended the right person to fix the issues. Roger was knowledgeable, professional, and punctual. I would certainly hire him again.

  • Our experience with Esham's could not have been better.  Roger was very responsive, punctual, and very professional.  The chimney needed extensive cleaning, which Roger took care of with ease.  The cap was properly fitted and installed.  Additionally, he also replaced other failing caps on the roof.  He even gave our little ones a coloring book!
I would definitely recommend this company and will use them again in the future without hesitation.

  • My builder worked with Tate to purchase bricks and supplies for our project. Both had detailed plans from our architect and access to the job site. My builder and Tate estimated the number of brick required to complete the job and requested that I pay for the brick up front as they were special order and non-returnable. I know nothing about how to estimate the number of brick required for a job and trusted both the contractor and Tate so paid as requested (very bad move on my part).
As the job  neared completion, the brick layers and others on the job-site began to comment that their seemed to be an unusually high quantity of brick. True-we had approximately 4 full cubes left. On top of the overspent dollars (approx $1,237.66 of an $8,028.15 original order), we had a back yard full of brick stacked as delivered with straps on pallets.
In short - Tate blamed the contractor and the contractor blamed Tate and I was stuck with the brick and the overspent dollars.
Tate was non-responsive to calls, questions, and concerns. After many attempts, I talked to the owner who refused to remove the brick even with no-refund after I  expressed my safety concerns (The brick were stacked on a slope next to my children's play set. Some were leaning so bad that I was concerned the entire stack would fall on the kids. I have pictures). Tate's position remained same; I now owned the brick and the problem.

My builder finally agreed to have one of his sub-contractors who wanted the brick for another project remove them. He has also agreed to reimburse me for overspent dollars (..stay tuned for more on this if the builder does not follow through).
in my opinion, both Tate and my builder represented themselves as professional providing consultative services before the sale. After the sales, they both put the burden on me and my family for their bad advice and service. I did not like the cozy-friendly relationship between Tate and builder vs. the "tough-luck" attitude toward me and my family.
This was my first time dealing with Tate and it may be an isolated situation. That said, this is not what I expected from them as we had a family friend work there for many years and he as a man of very high integrity. The culture has apparently changed. I hope this is not a trend. Buyer beware.

  • On October 16th, I received a call from Donna asking if they could come by before the work day at 7am to do the maintenance work.  I stated that it would not work, but 8am would be reasonable.  Donna stated that she would call back, but never did.  I left a message on the 18th in the morning.  There was no response.  I called again on the 20th and there was no answer.
I have since booked a service appointment with another provider as Cincinnati Gaslite has been non-responsive.

  • Tony Jones did not pour a concrete footer (clearly outlined on his proposal and contract to be 30" below the surface).  He only poured a 6" slab.  The result is an outdoor fireplace that is cracking and falling apart.  I tried to resolve this peacefully with Tony Jones, but he refused to admit his guilt/fault.  He sent out his "expert engineer" to inspect my fireplace and he said my "fires were too hot and that is what is causing the cracking."  He said until I could proved to him that his workmanship was at fault, he was not going to help resolve the matter.  I called three other masons and they all agreed Tony Jones neglected to pour the concrete footer (that he charged me $700 for as a separate item on the proposal/contract).  I let Tony Jones know I had written documents from other masons outlining his faulty workmanship, yet Tony did not return any of my calls.  I've since hired an attorney, spent lots of money to rightfully sue Tony Jones, and was granted a default judgment in the amount of $12,200.00, plus interest, reasonable attorneys fees. Problem is, Tony Jones does not show as owning anything........no businesses, no house, no car, no assets....nothing.  Yet, Google "jonesnbar" and discover that Tony Jones operates a bar (actually 2 of them), yet he has no assets and no money?  On top of all this, he even asked me to cancel the check I made out to Tony Jones Masonry on November 21, 2008 and asked me to write him a personal check so he could avoid paying taxes.......tax evasion on top of all this.

  • I purchased The Big Deal for Gas Fireplace Sweep and Service for my son and his wife.  They had just moved into a new house and had lots of questions about their gas fireplace.  The office staff was very proactive, contacting me shortly after I purchased The Big Deal.  I was very pleased with my contact with the office staff.  They were friendly, efficient and helpful.
My son was very pleased with the service man.  He serviced the fireplace, answered all my son?s questions and made recommendations for additional repairs not covered by The Big Deal.

  • Ben arrived when he said he would and worked on the fireplace and gas line for 2 hours. I left him alone in the house and went back to work. He called me when he was done, so I could pay him and lock up. I was very comfortable leaving him alone in the house. He was very professional and knowledgeable. I don't know if he was the cheapest, but he is definitely the best, and you get what you pay for. Plus I saved 10 % with an Angie's List coupon.

  • It went excellent. I was referred to David through Angie's list. He was recommended highly and did not disappoint. I left a message and he called me back same day to schedule. He was a little early and called well in advance to ask if that would be okay being very considerate of my time. His inspection was thorough, his work is clean and quick. He also put me on his list to call back so that I don't have to remember to call him. I am extremely pleased and would recommend David Jacobs to anyone.
