  • Have been a patient of Dr. Grutzmacher for 14 years. During one visit in 2010, the doctor discovered narrow angle glaucoma which left untreated could result in extreme pain and blindness. He referred me to an eye surgery practice where laser surgery was performed. I do not see myself ever going to another practice because of the comfort level I have with Opticare Vision Center.

  • They are fine.  I would rate them an A.  I have an appointment with them and I will be going next week.  As far as Sears Optical, the only thing is I’m getting an eye doctor there for a while.

  • She is very friendly and knowledgeable. She takes time to answer your questions. I have dry eyes and she does so she used her first-hand experience to help me with that issue. She's very thorough; she doesn't rush you through an appointment at all. There is sometimes a wait for a little bit but not that extensive. They have clean office, just regular room; not a regular doctor office. It's connected with an eyeglass and they also have a guy who does contacts.

  • My family had a very poor experience with our last optometrist, so I've been reticent to get back to a new provider. However, I live right near the office and thought 'Why not?'.
    When I called to schedule my visit I was thrilled to hear that they have later appointments during the week. I was able to schedule something which wouldn't require time off work. This was a huge help for me.
    I got there and the office was pretty empty but the receptionist was very friendly. She made feel as though I were a long time customer and it was good to have me back. I really appreciated that.
    When the doctor came out to take me back to the room, she was very professional and nice. I've been in glasses or contacts since I was 12 so I've seen my share of Optometrists. I was happy with how the appointment went and felt very easy talking to Dr. Bertram about my vision.
    Afterward, we went out and found glasses. I'm horrible when it comes to picking out frames that fit my face and the staff helped me find some that really shined. I can't say that I've ever gotten as many compliments or had people ask me about my frames before. I was ecstatic. Having someone there who really takes the time to help you out without feeling pressured was a welcome change.
    When my lenses and frames were ready for pickup, I scheduled another appointment. It was on a day when I had my children, so this would be a big test of how well the office would handle it. It was fantastic that when we all came in, everyone was very friendly. I have 5 children so going anywhere is a bit of a chore and to have an office that doesn't react negatively leaves a lasting impression.
    I'm way beyond due for another eye exam and I feel terrible about not going back. I feel that they deserve my repeat business and I'd hate to think that they believe I've gone elsewhere. They're good about sending a reminder in the mail each year and if it wasn't for tight finances, I would have already gone this year.

  • I've been going to Dr. Howell for about 3 yrs. for my annual eye exam as I have been wearing glasses or contacts for years. She is very knowledgeable, patient with all my questions, and flexible in recommending treatment that fits with my insurance. Shie is very easy to talk to and puts you at ease.
    I have also seen her for eye allergies and the treatment she recommended helped clear the issue.
    My most recent eye exam included a contact fitting. I have trouble with wearing contacts because of dry eyes and working at a computer. The contact specialist that has been helping me at the Fort Mitchell Thoma and Sutton office where I see Dr. Howell has really been helpful in trying to find contacts that will work for me.

  • Excellent experience at Vision One. Dr. Shewmaker and his staff are very friendly and attentive. They don't pressure you to buy contacts or glasses from them, but you can if you are inclined. Very short wait to get seen by the doctor (and I was a lunch time appointment). I've been going there about seven years, and will keep coming back.

  • I have been seeing Dr. Jamie Bertram and Dr. Paul Bertram for a number of years, now, for eye care, eyeglasses, and contacts. They offer business hours that are unusually convenient, and I have never had trouble getting an appointment reasonably quickly, when I needed one. The doctors and their staff are warm, caring professionals who are obviously highly invested in providing the best care for their patients. They are patient and considerate: they take the time to ensure that they understand your concerns, and also to answer any questions that you might have. The facility is relatively new, spotlessly clean, and aesthetically pleasant. Each and every appointment that I have had with them has gone smoothly, and was a pleasant experience.

  • came early to see if they needed to update the insurance forms since I normally see them twice a year. All records were same, so no updating needed. I was sent back early to get my general vision checked and found out that the last visit proved that my test results were normal for the optical test on my optic nerve and pereferial vision areas. So no new testing done on that. I was told that I woudl probably not be tested on my optic nerve and perferial vision again until next year as a result of them being normal this last visit. this visit on the 13th and the one scheduled in october 2012 would be dialation test only. Test went very well, was easy to do. Dr. Thon is my eye doctor and he is very good with children since he has two grown children of his own. Very easy to talk to and relate what has happend since last visit. He can tell you what to expect based on age and previous visits done for the next appt.

  • I have no complaints about them. This place happened to be more convenient. I basically walked in there and got everything done and maybe at any other given time you might have to make an appointment two or three months ahead. The convenience worked out and I don't have any problems. My mom has macular degeneration and she is almost 60 and I know I am going to have issues that I would have to go back to them for but right now it is fine. When you go in there you want to see good doctors. My family has used them for long. It is the trust factor and they are a pretty big outfit. There is no problem with the insurance it is mostly the timing of the availability and that is the only downside. The physician I had was Dr Jean Noll but she was not the founding father of it and there are a lot of different ones there too. There is a wait sometimes because they are so busy. The office environment is nice. If you do have a problem or emergency they do get you in which contributes to your wait. If you have an emergency they like you to call up. I had no problem with the billing because my insurance was co-pay.

  • They did a thorough exam of my children's eyes. It is easy to get in and they took my insurance. Their prices for eye glasses seem kind of high. I'm sure I could have gotten them cheaper somewhere else but the service was good enough that I was willing to pay the extra.
