    Cowan, Dr. John D.
He removed the spots which were benign. When I didn't think It was healing fast enough he had me come back in and checked them and said everything was doing fine which was reassuring to me.

    Watkins, Dr. Shannon
It took me forever to get someone to answer the phone to just schedule the appointment...I'm talking a couple of weeks of calling and either getting an answering service or being told her office was already gone for the day. To be fair, I did start calling around Christmas, we all know around the holidays it is hard to get in touch with ANYONE. After finally getting someone there to answer and schedule my appointment, the earliest available was 4 months away. This is somewhat typical for a new patient looking for a dermatologist in this area, so I took it. The day before my appointment, the office called and Dr. Watkins was out sick, so they had to reschedule. The earliest available was over a month away. I took it; what else was there to do? Once I was finally able to get in to see Dr. Watkins, I was pleasantly surprised. Her office staff was very nice, very friendly. It was a quiet atmosphere and I didn't have to wait too terribly long to see her. She was easy to talk with and very professional. My entire visit took about an hour, and this included checking in, new patient paperwork, my exam, and several mole biopsies. I have a follow-up appointment scheduled in a few months to review my new acne treatment. I left pleased and feeling like I was in good hands. Hopefully now that I am an and quot;established patientand quot; it will be much easier to get in to see her when needed in the future.

He's very good at what he does and accomplishes what you come in for. His bedside manner is a bit dry. He's readily available and on time.

I think he is really good.  You are in and out of his office literally in minutes.  He does not take forever.  Some people say that they don’t like his bedside manner, but I do. He does listen to you when you talk to him.  He is right to the business.  I have seen him for insect bite and skin problems.  In each case it took us just one visit for us.  The medication he gave worked.  He is like a mechanic.  He gets the job done no matter what it costs.  You get the job done and are happy with him.  You don’t have to go back for the same thing over and over.

My appointment was quite early in he morning so there was very little wait time. I have seen Dr. Cowan several times before for afternoon appointments and had a bit of a wait. Dr. Cowan and his staff were very gentle throughout the entire procedure and talked me through each step of the procedure. They gave very accurate descriptions as to what to expect once the numbing medication wore off and also gave detailed instructions for after care. I was told that biopsy results would be back within 7-10 days. I received a phone all within 7 days of my appointment with the results of the biopsy.

Dr. Cowan's knowledge-base is phenomenal. He is one of the few doctors I would trust for this. He's very good about giving appointments when needed. His staff is friendly and he has a great bedside manner. I will continue to use him.

As far as I can say, she is just great. She is very personable and she seems to me caring and I believe she truly does. I would recommend her to anybody. I would grade her highly across the board. I won't go to see anybody else unless she is sick. They set an appointment and I go, so I never had to in without it. The staffs are fantastic. The effectiveness of treatment is so far so good. I have a copay and that it as far as billing. I am going to see her next month.

My appointment was at 2:30. I was called back to a room in a timely manner. I then sat and waited in the room for an hour without further communication from staff or Dr. Watkins. At 3:30 I redressed and left the office without seeing the doctor. I would not recommend her to my friends and family. Maybe wasting an hour of my time is not important to her, but it is to me!

The doctor burned off the nose spot--twice, but it came back.  I had to have a Mohs procedure at Vanderbilt.   He treated my feet for weeks even though he did not know what the problem was.  I finally went to Vanderbilt where it was quickly clear that I had a fungus infection.  However,  by this time the infection had spread to he tissues in my feet.  My nails came off, and the damage was so extensive that they have never fully returned.  I took oral anti-fungal medication for at least ten years in order to keep the infection in my feet under control.
