We were referred to Leslie Kotrba who works at Grieco Kurtzke & Adelman through a mutual friend. At the time we had incurred a substantial $$ penalty from the IRS due to our PRIOR accountant’s error. And we also hadn’t filed the past 2 years business (we own investment properties) and personal returns. We also lived in another country. So we clearly had a few things that needed to be done. Our first priority was that we really wanted to try and appeal the IRS’s fine. Once we got Leslie on board, she was very thorough in the questions she asked, so she could build a case for us, and she explained things to us in a way that a person whose not an account could understand. This was a huge plus for me, as a lot of accountants speak to you as if you are also an accountant. ( I can barley do long division:-) ) She spent hours researching laws that could help us, conferred with her associates at the firm, and crafted an extremely well articulated letter to the IRS to get our fines either fully waived or at least reduced. Not surprisingly, their first response was NO.. But Leslie wouldn’t give up, she was determined to help us. I think most accountants would’ve just given up, but not Leslie. She went higher & higher up in the IRS appeals chain ( which most people probably don’t know exists) and in the end, after more letters and she had a phone conference with the appeals officer, she was able to get our fine cut in half. We are really grateful to her for this! She put a lot of time and energy into helping us. In addition, we live overseas, and the time difference is pretty much night/day; but Leslie was happy to make time before or after “business hours”when we could confer. She answered all our questions in a very timely, patient & thorough manner. She also ensured that because we live in another country that we are compliant with US tax laws relating to any monies we earn here or bank accounts we have here. Then she completed the 2 years worth of returns that were past due, making sure that we were taking deductions we were entitled to; which our prior accountant hadn’t done either. She went above and beyond what I have seen/ heard other accountants would. She’s smart, kind, professional,honest, thinks creatively, speaks to you in a way that makes sense and she does her best. And her fees are very reasonable, especially considering the time & effort she puts in. Plus she is also a CPA, so she is even more familiar with tax laws than a regular accountant. If you’re looking for a tax professional who will do her best for you & not just treat you like a number, Leslie is your person!

We were ready to close - Quicken kept asking for more information and required me to do all of the footwork. Don't expect them to lift a finger to help. They won't budge on a requirement. If they want 8 pages instead of 7 - you had better send an extra page. I was told to upload a blank page. I was asked to provide employment verification - had to be on official letter head - COVID no one is in the office - Quicken would not budge. They had to have official letter head. An official email wouldn't work. Then they asked for a further verification from the same official email that they wouldn't accept in the first place or else a verbal response from an official phone number - COVID again. No one is in the office. Set closing date but they did not communicate with Title Company. Already past the contract date and they can't set it up for another week. Original house is sold so HOMELESS. GRRRRR

The team at Platinum Tax Defenders help my family tremendously, my father owed the IRS over $75000, and this was accumulated throughout the years with penalties and interests. I have used Larry for many years, always getting much more than I ever expected in refunds. Larry provides such high professionalism and skill, I could not be happier! This year was an especially difficult year for me due to a major issue with my employer. Larry replied and helped me get what I needed to the IRS in an amended 2018 tax return to MD and IRS. He always is so friendly, helpful and works hard to make sure I get all I should get in my return. He is worth every penny. I was so surprised to read some of the other reviews here. Yes he may take some time to get your return done (don't wait until the last few weeks!) but he does want accuracy. I wish I could give him A++++!
