    Pepper's Painting
Jerry is a very nice guy. He seems to really like what he does, but the quality of the work is where things go down hill. The job was supposed to take 4 to 5 days. He and his guys (both are son in-laws from what I recall) would show up on time but always be in a hurry to leave by 2 or 3pm. Granted, I live fairly far from where they do; but that was known prior to taking the job. They cost themselves a great deal of extra work by doing things out of order and not doing it correctly the first time around. When refinishing a stair case, you really shouldn't paint the spindles before you strip, sand, and stain the rest of it. The painting of the wall and trim looked great. That stair well was a literal nightmare though. First, they sprayed the spindles on day 1 (bad move). Then, they laid on a thick layer of stripping get which dripped everywhere (including my carpet). What do you think that gel did to those newly painted spindles? Yep, stripped the paint right off and gooped it all up wherever it touched. Then, they sanded and scraped the original clear coat off the railing and treads...using everything from scrapers to wire brushes...then stained right over the wood without cleaning any of the debris off first. I thought I was going to have heart failure when I came home that day. There were huge scratch marks all in the wood from them not "sanding" with the grain and using wire brushes..and there was gunk from the scraping all mixed in to the stain. I called Jerry and went "off". He came back the next day and spent a whole day re-sanding (properly) the treads and railing. When the stain went on looked great. I told him not to apply the polly top-coat until every bit of debris from sanding was off the, his guys started hand (re) painting the spindles. assumption was that they were going to sand down the peeled and gooped up paint on the spindles caused from the stripping gel...uh, no. They just started painting right over it. Again, I went "off" on them. I literally had to go behind them and start scraping paint where it looked like CRAP because his guys didn't want to spend the time it was going to take to do the job right. I called Jerry again...on the night of the 8th day and told him they had until the end of the next day to fix it and get it all done; or we were calling it quits. They came back the next day and stayed late to get everything done...not "right"..but acceptable enough for me to say "good enough". He has one son in-law that is NOT doing him any favors by working for him...he SUCKS at trim/detail work....huge drips of paint that Jerry had to keep going back and redoing. Honestly, I would never call them back again...period.

    K.T.'s Painting
I contacted contractor. She arrived at the prearranged time. We discussed what I wanted done and the cost of doing so. Kathy went over in detail what her cost covered and the time it would take. She furnished all the materials and we scheduled a time that was convenient for us both. She arrived on time and did the job in the agreed upon time. She left no mess and my furnishings were properly replaced.

    Jerry Jeffries
Jerry has spent virtually an entire year with us, almost from the moment we purchased our "new" house, and we couldn't be more pleased with his work. Referred by a trusted neighbor at first just to repair and re-paint part of a drywall ceiling damaged by a leaking pipe, Jerry offered to give us a bid on interior painting we obviously needed and his price was very competitive. Initially working only nights and weekends in addition to his daytime job as a commercial drywaller, Jerry became a full time worker for us in the winter when the economic downturn caused commercial construction work in this area to stop. He is so honest and dependable that we eventually gave him a key to our house, so he could continue to work when we were out of town. He carefully worked around our furniture, including some very valuable antiques, and was always sensitive to the fact that we were living in most of the spaces where he worked. His interior painting included caulking of every possible space between walls, ceiling and wood trim that gives the painted areas a beautiful finished look. He is also a very skilled finish carpenter, installing unfinished wood bookcases (which he also painted beautifully) throughout our home in such a way that they look like they were custom made. He also installed chair rails, crown molding, new baseboards and other finish trim work to meticulous perfection. And, to top it all off, he recommended other workers he knew and trusted, including his preacher (our electrician), as well as fellow members of his church, to which he is very devoted. All of those workers have also been wonderful, thanks to his valuable knowledge of who does honest, good work. I can't recommend him highly enough!
