After having a previous contractor take our money and run, we were nervous about handing over any deposit money. Dugan Concrete agreed to allow us to pay half after the first day of prep and the other half at the end of the job. Not only was he on time - he was early. He and his crew member worked hard from 8:30- 4. They work efficiently together, both are knowledgable, organized, efficient, polite and clean in their work. They are exactly what you want your contractor to be. You will not have to worry about the job getting done, and you will feel confident in their ability to provide you the best service and end product. We found them on Angie's List and would highly recommend to anyone looking for concrete work!
Thank you for putting us at ease and giving us a beautiful patio!

Overall I did not have a good experience.  I think Gary Cadill and Totally Concrete probably do a good job a majority of the time, but the true test of professionalism is how you deal with problems.
At the start of the process, Gary spent a lot of time reviewing everything with me during quotation.  I felt he was knowledgeable and very experienced.  He told me that he would get back to me in a couple days with the quote, and almost 2 weeks later, I still hadn't heard anything from him.  I ended up hiring another contractor for the job, but that contractor kept pushing out the expected start date.  I was outside looking at the area before heading to work and out of the blue, Gary drives up and talks about submitting a quote (this is 3 weeks after our first meeting).  If I hadn't stopped to look over the pool, I would have missed him.  He said he wanted to get a look at the area now that the pool was finished so he could provide a more accurate quote.  I told him to go ahead and quote (not mentioning that I already hired someone, and thinking he wouldn't come back with a quote anyway).
He came back a couple days later with a reasonable quote that was a little higher than the current contractor, but Gary was able to start the job the next week and I was willing to pay for what I thought would be better quality work in the time frame desired.  The next week, he called and asked if I wouldn't mind postponing since it was going to be ~100° Wed-Fri when they were scheduled to install.  I told him that I would like the work done as scheduled as long as there wasn't concerns about the quality suffering due to the heat.  He assured me that if he put extra retardant and started early in the day, that there wouldn't be an issue.  They arrived on time and finished the job quickly.  They did break a drainage pipe while bringing in the concrete truck, which they replaced with an "extra" one I had (which basically meant I had to get a replacement for the section they took).
This was a minor issue, the real problem was that I started seeing surface cracks the next day.  I informed Gary and he came out to investigate.  He agreed that there were surface cracks, but they weren't structural concerns.  He also had the concrete tested to ensure that wasn't the issue.  In the end, he thinks that it turned out to be too hot to install that day and the concrete dried out too much before curing.  He said that he told me he had those concerns, which I quickly corrected him by reminding him that I said not to install if he thought there would be a problem, and that I would have never agreed to an install if there was a concern.  He agreed and said he never would have guessed there to be a problem since he'd never experienced an issue like that in the ~30 yrs he had worked.
I felt that it was only a cosmetic issue but I still wasn't happy about having surface cracks in a newly installed deck.  He understood and claimed to want to "do what he could to make it right".  He suggested that he bring in a colleague that could install a vinyl coating (StarDeck) to repair the cracks and cover the entire surface.  I felt this was a good suggestion but felt a fair solution would be for me to pay for the material (since there was added benefits for the coating) and form him to cover the labor.  I also asked him to quote a concrete patio (which I would pay full price to have vinyl coated) as added incentive for him making things right.  He agreed to this, but when I got all of the quotes back, he only credited me $400 for the labor on the vinyl coating (should have been ~$1600).  He also charged almost double per sqft for the patio than what he charged for the pool deck (which was essentially the same type of work).  When I asked him about it, he said that there were some stairs that raised the price and that he wasn't trying to "gouge me".  I told him to leave the stairs out and then the story changed to him saying that he didn't make anything off the pool deck so he needed to "re-coup his losses".
Long story short, he wasn't very reliable on communication (nothing electronic... he can't even use a computer), and although most of the time they will probably do good work, if something goes wrong, Gary will not stand behind his work and fix the problem if it means taking a loss.  I would never use Totally Concrete again and strongly suggest others not to as well.

We had such a positive experience working with Jennifer on organizing our main living space that we brought her back to help us with the garage and basement.  She is timely, she is efficient, and yes, she is organized.  Together we unpacked every box in the basement and garage, including those boxes we had moved across country with us ten years ago.  You know the ones -- the boxes that are shoved in the corner, waiting for "someday" to come, when we might finally find time to unpack them.  Jennifer made "someday" happen.  In just a few sessions the basement and garage have been transformed into improved useable living space.  We can park in the garage! We can find all of our tools. We have work space for our home improvement projects!  Our crafts and hobbies all have a home, neat and tidy. We no longer waste time looking for things. We know exactly where they are.  How refreshing! Thank you, Jennifer, for being our guide through this process.

We had combined our belongings from two different households, and were trying to make things fit into our newest space.  Despite our best efforts, life kept interfering with our ability to make this happen in a good way.  As Oprah says, "your house should rise up to greet you" when returning home each day.  That was not happening in our case, and we felt it was time to seek some professional advice and help.
After reviewing Angie's List, we decided to consult with Ultimately Organized.  Jennifer, from UO, came and gave us an assessment of our organizing needs.  We discussed a plan for making this happen.  Based upon Jennifer's advice and approach, we decided to hire her for the job.  This has been our best decision of the year!
Jennifer arrived each day on time, and ready to jump into action.  She worked from the time she arrived until she left (she makes the Energizer Bunny look lazy in comparison.)  She had a game plan in mind for each day's targeted space, discussing it with us each time before starting.  She worked right along side us each and every step of the way.  She has wonderful ideas for creating great living spaces, incorporating our unique needs and wishes into a plan of action.  She was upbeat and positive through the entire process.  She took something we thought to be near impossible (and full of drudgery!) and made it completely doable in a very positive way.
In just 35 hours Jennifer gave us our home back!  What more can we say?

Fantastic! The new patio from the side door is awesome and is used all the time. The front porch, which was pretty bland-looking, is new and vibrant. Frank and his crew are clean, courteous and always on time.

Frank Davidson, owner of Concrete Concepts was amazing from start to finish. Very thorough in his presentation and what he could do for us to insure that we had a unique floor for our venue. We were shown samples as well as given a website with several finished floors that we could view, ask questions about, etc. We were able to get on their schedule fairly quickly and they were here each day when they said they would be and on time. A new, nearly 1000 sq ft. concrete floor was poured, control joints were cut, the floor was sanded back down once it cured, a trowel finish became the top coat and then acrylic stain and sealant. When necessary they worked into the night and showed up early in the morning. The floor looks absolutely beautiful. I would HIGHLY recommend Frank and his crew for your next patio, pool, sidewalk, enhancement. They can make old walkways look new and give them just about any look you want.

The company had not renewed its license with my city when this first started, so dealing with that took a few weeks, but once that was taken care of, Paul Michels told me it would be about two weeks for them to start, and that was just about right. He gave me a day's notice because of finishing another job sooner than expected. Most of the work was done while I was at work, but from what I could tell, there were three men working, including Paul, for two days. The city has to inspect the job site before concrete is poured, and it turned out that they had to raise it up a bit so that the water would run off into the alley. After pouring the concrete and sealing it, they put dirt over the rocks that tapered into the yard, planted grass seed, and covered it with straw. I was able to park on it after about 3 days. I also requested that they save the wooden gate that was in the fence they tore down, which they did. Compared with one other quote I got, I thought the cost was a little high; but considering the extra things involved in the project, I didn't feel cheated out of anything, and I felt the work was well-done and solid.

I emailed Creative Concrete on a Wednesday afternoon, and Kevin Murray called me back two evenings later. We set up an appointment for the following Monday evening. He called ahead that day because he was running a bit early and asked if it would be all right to come over at that time. I explained what I had in mind and we discussed some of the issues of putting a pad at the back, and he told me what he thought would be the best way to do this. The estimate he gave me was lower than another company because of the different ways each approached the task, but I decided to go with the other company's proposal in light of some issues with the property itself.

THIS COMPANY WAS HIRED BY OUR LANDSCAPING COMPANY AS A SUB-CONTRACTOR. THEY FAILED TO SHOW UP WHEN EXPECTED. ALTHOUGH THEY DID A GOOD JOB CREATING A NEW CONCRETE WALK WAY, THEY MADE A NUMBER OF MISTAKES IN CREATING NEW CONCRETE STEPS. THEY DID NOT SLOPE THE STEPS PROPERLY, WHICH CAUSED POOR DRAINAGE. THEY ALLOWED CONCRETE TO SEEP, AND ULTIMATELY HARDEN, FROM THE EDGES OF THE MOLDS. THEY LEFT GAPS REMAINING AT THE BASE OF THE STEPS, AND SPLATTERED CONCRETE ON A NEW PAVER STONE WALL THEY NEGLECTED TO COVER WITH PLASTIC BEFORE POURING THE CONCRETE. IT TOOK SEVERAL PHONE CALLS TO GET THEM TO COME BACK OUT TO CLEAN UP THEIR MISTAKES, AND EVEN WHEN THEY DID RETURN, THEY DID NOT DO THE JOB SATISFACTORILY. ULTIMATELY, OUR LANDSCAPER HAD TO BRING SOMEONE ELSE OUT TO FINISH THE JOB AND CLEAN UP.
