I had a dental checkup there 2 days ago ($123). They changed their name recently and got a new computer system so not even my name and address were in their records. Hmm. The checkup ended with a recommendation for a deep cleaning (scraping and root planing, 4 separate anesthetized sessions, ~$1,000) based on X-ray 'bone loss' and gum pocket measurements, and they identified 5 cavities that needed to be filled ($2,082 work recommended). Having had a strong recommendation from my brother to try the U of Louisville dental school clinic, I found their price for deep cleaning to be a good bit lower ($252 less, based on estimates), and I decided to go there for the work instead. This morning I went to U of L and was told I had NO cavities, and that I did NOT need deep cleaning. They explained several deep gum pockets in the back were probably misidentified by Integrity Dentistry because the gums themselves are rather think and high there, and that X-ray voids around several old fillings were questionable, but told me there were no indications of disease (NO need for the deep cleaning, and NO cavities to be filled). I question the competence of the hygienist, who took the gum measurements, and the dentist, who was a bit too quick to recommend a fairly drastic treatment for what the U of L professionals dismissed as not warranting ANY treatment at all.

We are new to the area and had to find a dentist to replace a spacer that fell out for my 6 year old son.  They were welcoming and the dentist was so nice and comforting to my child  and eased his anxiety.  She talked him through what she was doing and very patient with him. We have since been back since to have another one replaced too and the same welcoming experience.  No wait.  Easy to get an appointment.  We were without insurance at the time and they helped with billings.  Our family will be going back for routine check up's going forward and have become our new dentist.

Went extremely well. Have been a patient of Dr. Stearsman for about 2-3 years and they call me by name (the entire staff), they know how many kids i have and approx. ages, they always ask about my wife/family. My wife goes to Dr. Stearsman as well. Awesome admin. staff - they informed me today that i was due for X-rays and i simply stated, "if the ins. won't cover it, i don't want it today". 5 minutes into the cleaning and the ins. lady came in and said they will cover the majority of it, i will have a small out of pocket to be paid...i told them to go ahead and do the Xrays... it is this personal service that attracted me to them and after about 3 years - they have not slacked off. It seems like they are trying to be more friendly and polite than the last time. The cleanings are thorough but gentle. They do an excellent job and will spend the time to chat with you before they get to work. They really want to get to know you and will strive to make your visit as comfortable as possible. For example, i cannot stand the polishing. The texture of the paste wears me out. So my hygienist offers to use some other brand than her norm - because it is less gritty....but she tells me that the downside is, that it is not as effective - i chose the gritty paste...i'm like everyone else i want the most bang for my buck. if you are looking for a dentist - i highly recommend Dr. Stearsman and his staff. Very professional, but very personal. As weird as it may sound - i am actually freinds with my dentist!!!

She’s got all the modern up to date equipments.  She has great staff and they’re very friendly.  She makes me feel comfortable and she’s very professional.  She’s a great dentist and I actually enjoy going to the dentist.  10.41 to 10.43.  I would absolutely use her again in the future.

    Oldfield, Dr. Mary E
!My appointments were scheduled promptly and I was seen within ten minutes of arriving. Her dental assistants were very professional and made me feel at ease. I have had a lifelong fear of dental procedures, but under Dr. Oldfield's patience, I actually began to look forward to my subsequent appointments. Given that I have a fixed income, I found this dentist to be very sensitive to procedures which were unlikely to produce optimum results, and recommended alternate plans which would fit my budget. I highly recommend this wonderful dentist to anyone searching for "their" dentist

I was seeing another dentist in Independence KY that recommended that I have a root canal and cap.  This filling was placed in my tooth when I was 16 years old and gave me no trouble.  This other dentist recommended almost $1000 in dental work.  I just wasnt sure about all that so I called Jack and set up an appointment for Friday.  It snowed alot that week so I called to see if there were cancellations and there were so I when to his office that same day.  Everyone was SUPER friendly!!!  I was so impressed it made me want to work there myself!!! LOL.  So for a small fee he took and x-ray and examined my tooth.  We had a little conversation to get to know each other and he says - I think we can build that tooth back up, smooth off the filling and you should be fine!!  It might even last you another 10 years or so.  I asked him how much it would cost, and it was only $100 with my insurance.  I was so relieved.  I had planned on scheduling another appointment but he says, lets go ahead and get you numbed up and we will fix that today.  I said, "are you drilling?" He said, "yes?".  I get very uneasy when it comes to drilling and shots in my mouth.  We will call it childhood dental trauma and a bad gag reflex.  So he willingly set up nitrous and once I was more calm he did his work.  It seemed like it took no time at all.  I was very impressed.  To date, no trouble with the tooth! and you can't even tell there is a filling there.  He is now my permanant dentist.

He was great with kids.  Bedside manner is important to me and he was great.  When you spoke to him, you had his full attention.  He was gentle.  His staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They took good care of you.  I would still see him if I hadn't moved out of state.
