    She has always been excellent in taking care of my issues. She is an older lady doctor and she is very laid-back and easy to talk to, which means a lot when you're going in with all your complaints. It's a big health system here. They're so popular. They're hard to get into. The office environment is pleasant. They're always running behind. They're friendly. They can get sloppy about billing. Your bills are very late in getting here. They are good about working you in if you really are sick.

    I could not be happier with the care and treatment from Dr. Quinn and his staff. I made the decision after several years with implants to have them removed, for no other reason than personal preference.  He made me feel comfortable and confident in my decision and everyone in the office was great.  The procedure itself was easy and done well.  I definitely would recommend Dr. Quinn.

    We usually see Doc Stites who is very good and has a bedside manner to match. We did not see this doctor.
    We paid thirty dollars copay at the time of service but once we got the EOMB we found out that that the copay was for sixty dollars. This amount was paid with a check dated the 19th of December meaning they got it right around Christmas. I attribute the billing issue to this timing as they have not credited our account even after providing them with a cancelled check image twice so far and another one today. 
    The number provided to their billing department is a residence so this is all taking place through the mail. 
    This aggravation has now caused us to find another doctor.

    It is the name of a huge practice here in the Kansas city area, Overland park, College Park Family Care. The last time I went in would be 6 months ago. That appointment went great. He is very friendly and very professional. They are very responsive. Everyone is extremely friendly. They respond to you, if you have a need, they respond to it. He is an internal medicine doctor. I just like the way he operates. If we need anything we get in.

    The office is different. They have one staff member and she does everything herself. She calls internal medicine her bread and breakfast. It has a personal approach. I would hate to go back to a regular office. Her office is on the way to our home. She will not rush you, she will take a lot of time with you. I have gone to her for probably 15 years. She has a refrigerator and you can get anything you want. You can have a quiet time if you want. She gives you a pager number in case of any differences.

    Both times she called, she had to leave a message with and quot;schedulingand quot;. They did not have the professional courtesy to return the calls, as stated on their recording. Lack of response such as this only suggests the type of care she might receive from Dr. Brown - VERY unprofessional.

    9/23/14 Update: After a total of three calls, my wife received a call from their office with the excuse that we either dialed the wrong number in calling them and that and quot;they called us back but our answering machine was full.and quot; Both were false statements since our answering machine NEVER has messages left on it. We reiterate - there are other physicians that have far more competent support than Dr Brown's office.

    See above. Also, once during a pelvic exam, Dr. Judy noticed a growth around my vaginal area. He thought I may have genital warts. So he referred me to a gynocologist, who told me the growth was the scar tissue from an apesiotomy (sp?). I thought an internal medicine physician would have known the difference. Then, a year or so later, this really great nurse practitioner at Kansas City Internal Medicine was doing another pelvic exam on me. I told her in advance that I had that growth, and she asked me why I would think to tell her about it. I recounted my experience with Dr. Judy, and she was insensed, made a very derogatory comment about Dr. Judy and finished the exam. I got the impression from her that she didn' think very highly of Dr. Judy's expertise. I guess she didn't care about making the remark because she was leaving the practice in a couple of weeks anyway. Finally, I had regular issues with billing, where it didn't seem that their recordkeeping was in order. Those issues didn't make it so I wouldn't return, though. They were mildly annoying, and ultimately KCIM was correct most of the time. I guess their statements weren't very clear to me.

    It is an arm of the University of Kansas Medical Center. I like that they are in our insurance plan and that they are associated with KU, the teaching hospital. I feel like they are in the network of top tier people. They are very highly regarded and I like that. I have not needed them a lot and that is good but I feel confident if I did and they are not the easiest to get to if you have to go to the hospital.

    Prior to the day of surgery, the hospital contacted me via phone with information regarding the day of surgery.  That was an excellent opportunity for me to get my questions answered.  The staff was very helpful.

    On the day of surgery, the lady who checks in patients was not very friendly.  She may have been extremely efficient, but she gave the impression that checking patients in was an imposition.

    The nurse that prepped me before surgery was mostly business but extremely good at her job.  The anesthesiologist and her assistant were very friendly and thoroughly explained the effects of the anesthesia.  The operating room staff seemed extremely competent and friendly at least while I was awake.  :-)  The nurse in recovery was nice but, again, pretty business-like.

    Unfortunately, when it's time to leave, they wheel you out through an elevator and portion of the building that felt like it was not air-conditioned.  The sweltering heat in the elevator made me extremely nauseous and they did not offer a drink or anything

    after that point.

    Dealing with the billing department has been a nightmare though.  Before the surgery, I was told that my insurance covered my having surgery there.  I found out later that they are out of network and adjust bills to in network amounts.  However, they do not adjust them correctly unless you call your insurance company yourself and get them to

    send a letter with the correct information to KCOI.  This can take multiple phone calls to the insurance company. 

    In addition, KCOI billing department does not appear to check their faxes regularly.  Twice I had to call them only to wait on hold while they located the faxes and printed them out.  This was after I had left a phone message asking about the fax the previous day and after I had included a cover letter on the second fax requesting a phone call to confirm receipt.

    They also only return phone calls part of the time.  I ended up having to contact my doctor's office in order to get the billing department to start taking action to correct the bill.  Currently, three months after surgery, I am still trying to get the bill finalized.  I paid in full yet received a statement still showing it as being unpaid.  I called and left a message four days ago and have still not received a call back to say whether or not they have my payment posted.

    Because of the billing experience, I am unsure as to whether or not I would return to the hospital portion of KCOI for another surgery.  (Note:  The doctor I used at KCOI was just fine.  I would go back to him.)

    He routinely performs surgery from the bottom of the foot when not necessary. The surgery could have been done from the top of the foot. Becasue he went in frm the bottom that caused problems when he then needed to fix with another surgery.
