    MAISCH SMALL ENGINE REPAIRS
These guys are the gold standard of customer service. Evan was super knowledgeable and helpful. I trust them to shoot me straight and charge a fair price for only the necessary needs. They came recommended to me as I moved and was new to the area. They certainly will get my business going forward.

    RG Small Engine Repair
My mower had quit working after making one pass in my yard.  I normally take my mower to another place (rhymes with ears) and this time I tried a new location.  Based on Angie's list and personal recommendations, I took my mower to RG Small Engine.  They immediately diagnosed the issue and provided a quote on the spot.  Given that the repair was fairly straight forward, the turnaround was very quick.  They called me later in the day and told me the Thermostat was out and that was causing my "hard start" issues.  I've had this issue since the day I had the mower and the before mentioned company that rhymes with "ears" failed to diagnose/fix this issue after five tune ups.
Today, the mower started on the second pull (normally it takes 6-7 pulls to start), and ran flawlessly.  I cannot recommend RG Small Engine repair enough.  They are very friendly, provide an accurate assessment of the issue, and most importantly, they fix the issue properly.  You have a customer for life.

    RG Small Engine Repair
I had been taking my riding mower to Reynolds for service and they had replaced head gaskets a year ago. It was never right and so I took it to RG. They told me I could get a new mower for what the John Deere would cost to replace the engine but I stuck with the John Deere because I have so many attachments for it. All did not go well. As soon as I had it home it started to leak oil in a puddle. I took it back and they rushed the repair for me. I waited a few months to write this review to make sure everything was working well.
I liked that I was given a couple of options for repair. I liked that they told me it was their error when the oil leaked instead of blaming a part or me or my mower. Anyone can make a mistake but few have the integrity to own up to it.
All's well now. I highly recommend this company and will return in the future.

I took my rider into this John Deere dealership because it is a John Deere and they were the only dealer in the area. The mower has been in decline ever since.
-They've replaced the gaskets on the bagger but the grass still blows out and the gaskets fall off. That was $100. I took it back and they tried to glue it and charged me again and it still doesn't bag the grass clippings or leaves. Then they told me the frame was bent but there's no way I would be able to bend it. I think they dropped it.
    - The mower doesn't cut the lawn straight. I've taken it back for that and they tell me they had a guy come to the house which they did but he told me that is the best cut a John Deere can do. I didn't have trouble until I had them service it. Again I think they dropped it or switched out my mower for another one. It did a beautiful job cutting until the first time I took it to them for annual maintenance.
    - There was a yellow button on the reverse they lost but Mike denied it. Then he shook his head and threw his hands in the air and walked away. Very demeaning.
    - After purchasing a new battery, they changed me to service the battery on the annual maintenance a month later.
    - I initially took it in for annual maintenance and have had trouble with excessive oil burning since. My best guess is they didn't put oil in during the oil change on a 3 year old mower. Last spring they told me I needed the head gaskets replaced on it and it was only 8 years old. $467 later and it was burning blue smoke the first time I used it and I called them back. I took it in again and they said there was nothing wrong with it. I tried again and more blue smoke. I hired out my lawn care because they were too busy to look at it again and told me to come back next spring. A few weeks ago I took it back and Mike the shop manager told me some of the old mowers needed to be brought back every 6-8 mowings to have the oil changed. REALLY?!? I called John Deere and they said 'No, every 50 hours.' So Reynold's wants me to take the mower in every 2 hours of run time for an oil change. I pulled the mower from their shop and took it to the highly rated RG Engine Repair. They said the engine needed to be replaced. Why would they put head gaskets on a bad engine?
    - Called Steve the owner and he said they wouldn't do anything because I hadn't spent enough money in his shop. I've spent over $3000 on maintanence, batteries, a bagger, aerator and a walk behind mower over the last few years. That should not have been a decision maker to rectify this issue, but I'm wondering how much money does a customer need to spend before Reynolds thinks we've spent enough for proper customer service.

    Fixin' Lawnmowers
I had over lubricated my mower before going out of town. When I returned, it would not start. Both husband and wife work in this business. She diagnosed it immediately said it would be done in a few day. Right on schedule, runs great and price came in 1/3 low than estimate. Great honest folks.

I took my lawn mower in to get fixed because it wouldn't start.  They charged me $59.99 to "fix" it, but the mower wouldn't start the first time I tried after returning home.  In fact the recoil cord you pull to start the mower was no longer attached to the engine.  Interestingly, the recoil cord was attached when I dropped it off.  So they charged me $59.99 and returned my mower to me in worse condition than when I brought it to them!
I called the provider and asked them to make it right.  I asked that they come pick up the mower and take another shot at fixing it.  I was told that "this happens all the time" and that it "wasn't their fault that the mower was broken".  They then proceeded to complain to me about how customers were constantly calling them up and yelling about how their mowers weren't fixed after getting them home.  Apparently they have a lot of unhappy customers, and this guy was not interested in hearing from another one.  I told them that they could make it right or I would dispute the charges.  They were not interested in keeping me as a customer, and we are now in the process of disputing the charges through Visa.

    Fixin' Lawnmowers
Brent came to the house very quickly.  We appreciated him coming to us the same day I called him.  He charged $35.00 to come out and take a look.  He said the carburetor either a.) needed to be replaced or b.) needed a rebuild.  My husband said, "ok, but call us before you do either so we know how much it will be."  Three days later he called and said he had rebuilt the carburetor and he would be by to install it.  Cool.  I really needed my mower!  After installing the rebuilt carb, and intake gasket I could hear from inside the house the mower sounded pretty rough.  After about 45 minutes he knocked on the door and asked me if I wanted to take it around to test it.  "I never drive someone else's mower", he said.   I went out and started it.  I sounded terrible, belching black smoke.  "Take it around", he said.  I tried going out into the yard..cough...belch..then I tried to engage the blade.  The mower practically went into a seizure and Brent told me I needed to adjust my choke.  Here's the thing:  I may be a woman but I do know basic things about an engine.  I truly resent when someone thinks they can lie to me.  Whether it's because I'm a woman and male mechanics think it's ok to tell me anything or mechanics just think they can say something doesn't work because of the user.  Back to the "fix".  I looked at him and said, "this isn't working."  I went inside and waited for my husband to come home.  When he did I said, "Mower sounds like crap,  Brent thinks I don't know how to adjust a choke.  I'm no longer dealing with him."  Thirty minutes later, my husband came in and told me Brent told him he couldn't fix it.  AND he still charged $100!  I looked at the lawn.  It was scalped.  I asked my husband how that happened and he said  "Brent drove it around."  (But he never drives someone else's mower.) ?  Now, I'm out $135 and still have a mower that wouldn't run.  I took the mower to Merriam Hardware, where they said they would get to it in 2 weeks.  Fine.  I don't have a working mower now, what's two more weeks.   When I went to pick up the mower, Ray Masters, owner, said that whoever "rebuilt" my carburetor left out the MAIN JET!!  I may be a woman but I do know that you need those jets working.  AND not missing altogether.  While I think it's nice that Brent puts a smiley face on all of his paperwork and such and loves to remind everyone that he's a Christian that doesn't mean he knows how to build carburetors.  I've never left a bad review on Angies's List and I HATE that I have to now.

    MERRIAM HARDWARE
After a bad experience with another mechanic my father told me about the place he takes his mower. Merriam Hardware is an older hardware store.   I called and they said they could look at it in 2 weeks.  My mower wasn't working, what's two more weeks?  So we dropped it off and waited.  After a week and a half Ray Masters, owner, called me to say it was ready.  When I went to pick it up I asked him what he needed to fix.  He rebuilt the carbureter that my initial mechanic rebuilt.  My first mechanic failed to install a main jet.  The mower works better than it ever has.  Like a kitten purring.  He helped my load it into the truck and even tied it down for me for transport.  I will never take my small engine repair anywhere else.

    Reynolds Lawn & Leisure
Reynolds Lawn and Leisure does good work. The work holds up. I would buy a new lawnmower from them but they're a Toro dealer, and I don't like Toro, but that's the unfortunate thing about them.  I like them and I keep going back to them.

    SHAWNEE REPAIR
The estimate was $160 and I only ended up paying $130. The service was very good. They were very friendly and professional. They finished the work in less time than I thought it would take. I would go back to them for other repairs, whether it be lawn mower or chain saw repairs.
