Concrete Repair reviews in Overland Park

    Artistic Concrete Coatings
My wife and I hired Paul from KC Artistic Concrete to refinish our concrete basement floors during a remodel last year. At first, we were both impressed with Pauls experience, photos of finished work, and his prompt service. For around $8,000, he did an epoxy floor in our gym, sealed the utility rooms, and did a marble-type epoxy floor in the main living space. He even threw in a free sealing of our limestone bar since that wasnt done by the previous owners. His crew was very timely and professional during installation. Unfortunately, the color placed in the gym was wrong - ending up brown instead of blue. To Pauls credit, he refinished the floor at no cost, I think because we had picked the color number directly off of the companys website and the paint supplier had changed numbers without notification. This was a minor annoyance, but since it was redone to our satisfaction, no harm done. However, the reason for this lousy review has to do with the main living space. After the floor was done, it was the most beautiful concrete finish Id ever seen. It was like a single piece of glass-smooth grey and white marble with some other colors mixed in for accents. Probably the coolest thing Ive ever had in a house. About 2 weeks later, we started to notice some bubbling in the paint coating. Much to our dismay, the entire floor began bubbling, making that glass smooth surface noticeably rough to look at and to walk on. We had Paul come back to see what had happened and the bubbles turned out to be water underneath the slab, pushing up the coating from below. If you didnt see it immediately after it was done, you probably wouldnt notice until we point it out to you, but we certainly notice. It is ugly now and needs to be completely redone. Therein lies the problem. Paul assured us that he uses the best products to seal the basement and offered us a 10-year warranty. As it turns out, I didnt read it carefully enough as it states that Not responsible for water damage from leaking pipes, receptacles, or slab moisture transmission and/or hydrostatic pressure appearing on this project. What the warranty actually covers is beyond me as I specifically hired him to seal the basement from moisture and that wasnt actually covered. Shame on me for not reading carefully and trusting in a handshake. Anyway, we had another contractor look at the floor and the second opinion revealed that the slab should have been tested for moisture content and the products used by Paul should have been selected based on that information. As Paul didnt do that, I felt that he should fix the floor. When contacted, he stated I cant and wont absorb the entire cost of refinishing the floor. So, in order to get our floor back to presentable condition, we would have to pay several thousand more for someone that didnt do his homework. No thank you. So, your experience may vary here, but if you are trying to finish a concrete slab indoors, I would recommend getting a bid from someone that knows how to seal out moisture before shelling out good money to KC Artistic Concrete.

    Concrete Concepts
Final product was terrible... blotchy and discolored. I was hesitant to pay in full, but Jason (owner) told me to trust him and the problem would go away. I paid him in full. Ten months later the problem hasnt gone away and he wont return my calls. He is dishonest and I dont recommend Concrete Concepts.

    Granite Garage Floors
It totally changes the look of our garage. Even our grandchildren think it is really really nice! Thought about doing it myself until I looked at a friends garage floor that he did himself. After a year his was looking nasty, chipping again etc. Really enjoyed meeting the guys doing the work! They are personable and professional and fast.

A+++ Rating We are completely satisfied with the job the OCC did at our house this week. The work was done professionally from the initial estimate to final pour and clean up. All of the staff members represented the company well. Carol and Jeff kept us updated on what to expect. Work was done as contracted and in a timely manner. We would highly recommend OCC to anyone needing concrete services. Very Professional, reasonable and easy to work with!

    C & C Concrete Construction LLC
Chad and his crew were great. They were on time every day and the job was completed on time. Chad was on site working every day. I could not be happier. If you need concrete work done, you will not be sorry if you hire C&C.

    Modern Concrete, Inc.
Everything went very well. Listened to what we wanted and delivered exactly what was contracted. The front porch was removed and a new, larger porch poured in its place, along with the sidewalk leading from the driveway to the porch. The deck on the back of the house was removed, the existing patio beneath the deck was demoed and a new larger patio was poured. The specific design requested was laid out and verified with us and then the patio was poured. They got most of the work done in 1 day, putting several folks on the project who worked hard to get the project looking great. Final touches added a few days later. Looks great and works wonderfully.

    Aldrich Contracting Co
I said in a review several days ago that I never heard from Aldrich. A representative called and said he didn't get a notification from Angie's List until last Thursday. Maybe Angie's List should get the "F" if that's the case.

    MOUNTAIN CONSTRUCTION
The quality of work performed was great. Glen made sure the project was designed and constructed properly. Well built - exceeded city codes. Our outdoor space is BEAUTIFUL! Glen began our project in the winter and that really helped us to complete it before our deadline. Glen's guys were all qualified and professional. His trim carpenter was fabulous and paid attention to every detail and consulted with us regularly.

    HOLLIDAY CONCRETE
Joe and his crew were fabulous. They showed up on time everyday, kept me informed as to what was going to happen and got everything done in the time frame promised. This was a major project. It has to be the smoothest operation I have ever had with a contractor doing work at my house. From start to final clean up everything went exactly how I expected. Awesome job guys, THANKS!

    DC Solutions LLC
Due to various circumstances, I became an out-of-state landlord and unfortunately, the top step at the house that I was renting cracked due to settling. I hired DC Solutions to repair the problem. They did fix the top step, but in so doing, 2 of the lower steps were shifted in the middle, causing an majorly uneven surface with a height difference of approximately 1" on each side. Since I was out of state, I didn't get a chance to view their work until some time later, but I confirmed with the tenants that the height difference on the lower steps was caused by the work done by DC Solutions. Unfortunately, the "fix" ended up being basically worse then the original problem in this case and I paid nearly $4000.00 for their services. I had to hire a different company to come out and fix the steps damaged by DC Solutions, and they said the job done by DC Solutions had been done incorrectly or poorly in a number of ways. I have attached pictures of what the lower steps looked like after the work by DC Solutions was completed.
