AWe received three bids to replace our aging furnace and air conditioner. We selected De Hart because: 1) best cost for the specifications, and 2) we were impressed by Larry De Hart’s professionalism in the initial consult. It took the workers 2 days to install a furnace, air conditioner, whole-house humidifier, and smart thermostat. So far, the whole system has worked well since installation.- Kate G.

AKitchen sink problem solved. Appreciate responsiveness - they came the same day I called them. I also like the M&S Club membership and having them come over and check furnace and AC annually to troubleshoot and prevent future problems. The price quoted in this review is the reduced price for Club members and does not include the cost of the faucet itself or Club membership annual dues.- Kate G.

BThe sewage pipes was a bit difficult and look longer than expected, but that was due to weather and needing to hire someone to dig up the yard to get to the pipe. Once finished, the sewer works fine and we have had no more backups since. The HVAC replacement went very well. The hardware was out and installed in just a couple days. The door/wall movement was done well and professionally. The only reason I rated this a B is cost. The actual service and work done was great! We were very much due for service, so we went with Standard Plumbing because we trust their expertise.- Fred D.

AVery well. Matt called to see if I was going to be home or if he should just go in (he's done other work on my home). He went in while I was at work and had it all taken care of before I got home. He left the bathroom tidy.- Gina L.

AThey did a good job. We haven't had a chance to check out the new air conditioner yet because it hasn't been that hot. They came when they said they were going to come and they finished all their work, they did not leave any messes, and what they quoted me is what exactly the bill was. They are easy to get a hold of and returned the calls so I appreciate their conscientiousness. I would use them again in the future.- Yvonne G.

AThe service went fine except the technician forgot to reset the breaker for the furnace. My family did not notice this until the next morning when it was fairly cold in the house. We contacted the company and they promptly sent out a technician to investigate why the furnace wasn't turning on. Once he arrived he quickly identified and corrected the oversight and we were not charged for a weekend service call.

ASewer backed up in the morning. D&I was the only plumber available for same-day service. Was concerned about some of the reviews on the web, but they mostly dealt with Heating/A/C.
Plumber cleared the clog, replaced malfunctioning toilet shutoff, cleaned up, was very profressional and courteous.

AThey did a great job considering it is a 20 year old air condition. He created a part to fit in. He was nice. We were satisfied with the plumbing work. They worked with the line to the manhole. They changed the part. The new part was longer so it had to be shortened but nobody came out to do the job. They were not enthusiastic to come and do it. Other than that the employees have been very nice and pleasant. They are polite and respectful.- John L. W.

FThe provider was called for a routine freon charging, and after contacting them, they were scheduled to come out for same-day service. A time was given for the technician to come out to the residence and all seemed well, but the provider called back hours later to inform us that the technician would be tardy because of an apartment complex emergency. Being on a schedule made the tardiness a bit of a problem, but we were open to waiting for the technician to finish his apartment unit repairs before coming to us. However, after several more hours of no contact with the provider or technician, we decided to reschedule the appointment. We were told that freon could only be charged in 70and deg; or higher temps, and to expect a call from them when the weather permitted. After over a week of no contact with the provider, we have decided to move on to a different service.

CWe own a trailer house in Manhattan for our children to live in while attending college. We are 5 1/2 hours away so any type of maintenance or issues they have we are forced to use service businesses like this one for assistance. Our son called indicating they had no heat in the house - it was just blowing cold air. We contacted M&S Plumbing and they did respond promptly and came out the same day, which was great and I give them high marks for that. When the service technician arrived he found that the problem was the pilot light had gone out and needed to be re-lit. Pretty simple problem to resolve. What I am unhappy about is the HUGE fee they charged for this. The service call alone was $79 plus they charged $87 to light the pilot and confirm that it was working. I feel these charges are out of line for the work that was done and the amount of time they actually spent resolving the problem, which was around 20 minutes.
With that said, it is of course possible that the fees charged are inline with other similar service providers in Manhattan. I will be investigating this further and if we find that other providers charge similar fees, I will certainly update this review to reflect that fact. But at this time I am disappointed in the amount charged for the service we received.
