    MIDWEST RADON
This review is way overdue. Around 4 years ago my wife and I purchased an older home with a partially finished basement in Shawnee, KS. At the time that the home inspection was done the radon levels came back right at the 4.0 pCi/L threshold. After putting it off for a while, I researched a lot of companies before deciding upon Midwest Radon to assist with the radon mitigation. The work was done in June of 2018 and I cannot express how impressed I was with the quality of their work AND the price! Once the work was completed (which was just a matter of hours) and the testing was completed, the radon levels in my basement had dropped to 1.1 pCi/L! The workmen were very nice, respectful and really knew their stuff. In addition to the quality of the workmanship of the install (which still looks as good as it did the day it was installed) I was especially impressed with the fact that on the day of the install (a design specialist was sent out prior to put together the quote and find the best location for the vent pipe) the installers and design specialist were able to work together to come up with an even better design which looks great from the outside of my home. Here is the kicker, even though it was more labor intensive than the original design and required slightly more materials, they completed the install on the same day and DID NOT charge me a penny more than what was originally quoted!! This company and its workers truly do care about customer satisfaction!! In my opinion and based upon my experience, you cannot go wrong by going with Midwest Radon ([*** Link removed ***] for all of your radon mitigation needs! Sincerely, Dan Anderson

    Byron Property Inspection Inc
Very pleased with John and his team of professionals. They arrived early to both appointments and put on shoe covers to protect the hardwood floors. They carefully documented all issues found, including many things we did not notice during the initial walk-through. They taught me what to look for, and how to maintain certain mechanicals. They identified some expensive problems, which helped us decide to reject one house and proceed with buying the second house. Afterward, the online written report was clearly summarized, easy to understand, and let me forward a copy to my realtor and the seller's agent for review.

Nick is an amazing man. I don't use the term "never" very often, but I will use it to describe my experience with InspectorNick. Nick was very professional, thorough and completely transparent with his expert perspectives on the condition of my property. Following the inspection, I needed to clarify sections of his report as my agent and I prepared our Addendum Of Unacceptable Conditions. Without hesitation, he responded, in writing, to my questions. I have "never" worked with an inspector that displayed all of the elements needed to be the best. Those elements are: Technical expertise and experience, exceptional customer service skills, and a profoundly grounded use of interpersonal skills, based on a well refined set of values. I would recommend Nick's services to anyone wanting a complete and accurate view of their potential home purchases. Nick's website is InsepctorNick.com! Advanced Radon Services Inc.
Sent pictures of system location on exterior of house before install which was a plus to be able to review the location. Installed system and checked radon levels after installing which reduced radon levels to near "0". Pleased with quality of work for the price and includes a five year warranty that compliance level will be maintained. Hid system in an area of the house where it is not very noticeable which was great.

    Certified Radon

They did an awesome job from the start to the finish.  The initial radon test showed a radon level of 5.5.  Note - the builder installed a passive system when the house was built two years ago and had the vent pipe sitting on top the footing.  So nothing was venting out.  So Certified Radon drilled a new hole, patched the old hole, added new piping and added the vacuum pump to activate the system.  After activating the system, the radon level dropped to 3.5.  At no additional charge, they came back out and vented the garage (large three car attached garage) to the active system.  After the garage was connected, the radon level drop to 0.6.  All of the interactions with the company (from the office people, to the field people, and to the installers) was outstanding.

    They are good people!

We received several quotes. A1 was a little higher than some quotes we received, but the thing that made us choose A1 was their advertised ability to take payment via PayPal credit with 6 months same-as-cash option. If you've ever sold a house, you know you need a lot of cash reserves. So being able to put off payment for a little bit eases some of the stress on our checkbook while we transition between houses.
The installer was very professional, courteous, punctual, etc. No problems. Actually, he arrived early (called ahead), which sent me racing home from work. But I'd rather have that problem than to be sitting at home waiting for a late show. When he got there, he presented 3 installation options based on the configuration of our house. Drilling turned out to be our best option, as explained above. The original quote had warned us that if they had to drill a new hole it would cost an extra $50. So there were no surprises in the final cost.
One small hiccup in the installation was that our sump pump pit, which had to be sealed for proper mitigation, was bigger than apparently is normal (he said the biggest piece they have pre-ordered is 24", our pit opening was 24 5/8"). So they had to custom order a piece of material big enough (looks like clear plastic to me, but he had some fancy name for it. They had the piece ordered and installed at my house within 48 hours of the original appointment.
The followed up with levels testing for a 72-hour period (24 hours to allow the system to work, then 48 hours of measurements). Our average level dropped from 5.5 to 1.3, so it's working. One little silly thing about testing -- he put the equipment on top of our chest freezer. Fortunately we had enough food for the weekend in our kitchen freezer ;-)
All around, a fine experience and I would recommend working with this company.

They were very persistent in making sure that our radon levels were mitigated and they had to come back four and five times out of the confines of their original deal which was nice. They didn't charge us extra even though they were doing a lot more work and the levels are well below what they need to be so we are pleased with that. They made sure that they did a quality job and that it met our needs.

James came to our rescue!  There were torrential down pours in KC today and of course, as luck would have it, our basement was flooding at the connection site of the radon mitigation system and the sump pump.  We called James to ask if he could come check it out since we weren't really sure if it was related to the radon installation or not.  It was also all sealed up and was hard to see through the Plexiglas what the problem was.  He made time in his evening schedule to come out to our house around 8pm to unseal the area, check out the issue, fix the problem and then seal it all back up and make sure the seals were good and the radon and the sump were running effectively and the radon fan had the right amount of pressure.  It was super nice of him to come out on short notice and take care of the sump pump problem for us.  It was a simple tightening of the sump pump piping brackets luckily.  James did a great job in taking care of us and I would highly recommend his service!

It went really well.  James did a great job of explaining all of the details regarding the equipment that was installed  and how it operates and also tips on maintenance.  He was very thorough with answering all of my questions which I greatly appreciated.  He was recommended by a friend that used him as well and it was a good recommendation!  He was very professional with a written proposal of two different options and everything was clear upfront with the cost.  No surprises which was great!

    MIDWEST RADON
First let me say two important things 1) this is the second time I used Midwest Radon - the first time was in our current home and the service was performed 20 years ago. I mention this becasue they were as good then as they are now! The second thing I have to mention is that this was a very delicate situation because we had not yet taken possession of the new property and the sellers were still living there but decided to allow this work to be done prior to closing. Gary from Midwest had to schedule with the sellers and perform the work with as little disruption as possible to avoid complicating the sale of the house to us.
He did so with great professionalism, showed up on time, performed the mitigation, and left leaving the sellers very impressed with their work. Now for the complications. As it turned out there was a crawl space that was contributing to the high levels of radon. The crawl space had to be worked before it could be included in the mitigation system (plastic lining and other details to bring it up to par). Gary called me and explained the situation and also put the sellers at ease about the additional work. He did take a few extra hours but was able to still finish the additional work that day leaving us and the sellers appreciative of the fact that we did not need to reschedule another visit. Gary explained all of the consequences of the crawl space as well as our options - he made me feel like we had all the time in the world to decide and I could take my time with this decision even though I knew he had his crew there and there was some pressure from the sellers to not be inconvenienced any more than was planned for. Gary's patience was a great comfort!!
The work was completed including the additional work required for the crawl space, there was NO mess left and the sellers were impressed as well. The radon readings were well below 2 after the mitigation and Gary explained that we would need to have the radon checked in about 3 years to make sure the system was still performing - here is the BEST part.....I asked if I should schedule that with him and make it a regular occurrence with his company - he said no.....that would be more expense than was needed! He gave me the name of a place to get these very inexpensive cans that do the collecting and are then sent to a lab that checks the levels for us for less than 1/3 the price it would be for him to do it!!! I can't say enough about this company, their professionalism, their work quality and their customer service!!! Thank you Gary!!!
