Deck Cleaning reviews in Leawood

The quality of work performed was great. Glen made sure the project was designed and constructed properly. Well built - exceeded city codes. Our outdoor space is BEAUTIFUL! Glen began our project in the winter and that really helped us to complete it before our deadline. Glen's guys were all qualified and professional. His trim carpenter was fabulous and paid attention to every detail and consulted with us regularly.

met in summer to scope out work and get quote. agreed on price, and scheduling a couple of months out. Day they were supposed to show up, no word at 9am.. so I called, Marlon said he was behind 2 and one half weeks plus one of the repairs we had agreed he would do ..he informed me he could not get parts thus would have to seal window up when repairing wood rot. Plus he said he did not put the agreed upon dates on his calendar so he would not be by that day to start as we agreed and had corresponded. SO due to that lack of notice on being able to show up on the agreed date, and the fact he wanted to re-scope part of the work(but had NOT notified us in advance), we canceled the agreement and requested a refund of the deposit. Marlon agreed. He does not do texts so that common mode of communication does not work with him, a third person relays messages. Really disappointed in him and his firm, sets our projects back months due to him. Would never recommend.

Marlon did an excellent job for us. He is extremely thorough, does not cut corners, and will do the job right. I had several bids from other people but all the others seemed more interested in doing as little as possible for the most money. Very happy I hired Marlon- high quality of work and all at a very fair price. His crew was great also. Very hardworking and very professional. I would definitely recommend Marlon.

Marlon performed repairs to our deck, including new piers and replacing a set of stairs. He also bleached and power washed the deck. While there, he patched an area of the house where wildlife had entered the basement. Marlon is honest and easy to work with.

Renew Crew pre-soaked and power cleaned our deck. They responded promptly to our bid request and performed the job in a professional manner, and on a timely basis. Will use them again if a need arises.

Not well. We had used the company before and had a good result. This time, the stain peeled w/in 3 days of application. He came back to correct that problem areas and it peeled again. We stayed off of the deck for 3 days after each service. At that time, he said that he didn't know why it was peeling and offered no solution. The last email I received said "I have done nothing but offer you professional service and quick response. I haven't had to do this much for anybody else. I am tired of hearing about it. We will wait until spring and recoat it because we are not coming back more then once". He was paid in full for his services.

There are many people willing to refinish a deck, but much fewer able and willing to do repair work. Marlon was very up-front with us about his pricing, and suggested that we order the supporting beam directly and have it delivered, which saved us over $200 off what a previous contractor had bid.  He monitored the weather and would not put deck sealant on without the proper cure time being available before rain.  He made it a point to complete the work to his exacting standards, which were greater than what I might have expected, but the deck looks great.  The wood rot work was added on later as we gained confidence in his work.  He went way above expectations in trying to match the existing faded paint.
Marlon gives an estimate for the work to be done, based upon estimated hours, and his final bill is based upon actual hours worked.  Even though I've noted that his standards were above what an ordinary homeowner might have, we still felt like we got an excellent value for the work done.  Marlon even suggested how we might modify our deck in the future so that we can reduce the exposed ends of the boards and get more years of use from it.  We will definitely have Marlon back!

In July, 2015, my husband informed me that he was ready to retire, 3 years before we had planned.  So, we had to get our home ready to sell quickly.  I had contracted with Phil Marks two years ago through Angie's list, to repair and paint some drywall.  I was very pleased with his work at that time, so I called him again and asked him if he could help us.  He and his men spent the next few weeks getting our home in beautiful condition.  Phil was always prompt and courteous, and his workers were always on time, respectful and professional.  They repaired everything that needed to be repaired perfectly, the paint job was beautiful, and the wood floors gleamed.  Phil and his men transformed a very lived-in home to an as good as new home.  Shortly after all the work was done, we received an offer, and the home is now owned by someone who appreciates it as much as we did.  If you want quality work, please call Phil.

I gave them a "B" rather than an "A" because although my deck was not much larger than the size the deal was advertised for, by the time they added in the stairs (2nd story deck) my cost was going to be $900.  The Angie's Deal was for a $400 value, which they said they would credit.  I don't think this is such a great deal.  In addition, although I got the bid in May they were not going to be able to get to me until late July.  Why run a deal when you can't do the work for such a long time?  It might not be a long time to them, but to a consumer in the summertime when deck usage is high, over two months is a long time.

The workers were fast. Overall communication could have been better. Numerous personal items and supplies came up missing and had to be replaced at owners' expense. It was very hectic and sometimes disorganized because owners were in the middle of moving. Painters washed their brushes and rollers out in the yard where owners were trying to repair the grass and yard, making a muddy mess. The work was completed in a timely manner.
