    AA Construction & Remodeling L.L.C.
If there were marks better than "A", this company would have them in ALL categories. As noted, a home that I had rented (out) for decades was badly abused by tenants and required a major overhaul. The job was scoped by several (4) contractors. Allan (AA co-owner) was the only one - who on the initial visit - was not afraid to get a 'little dirty' looking in all kinds of places so he would really understand the situation best. We solicited numerous bids for repair, and AA spent a bit more time than others to prepare a very detailed quote. The others seemed happy to estimate way high to cover their butts. The AA quote made it clear they understood all facets of the job including repairs needed for: 1. Floors (installing 3 different floor coverings - carpet, wood, and tile), 2. Walls (drywall, finish, and paint) 3. Ceiling repair 4. Windows (installed 14, various sizes) 5. Doors (framing, hanging, finishing, interior, exterior) 6. Construction (kitchen rebuild and modifications) 7. Kitchen (cabinets, counters, backsplashes, pluming, appliances, electrical) 8. Bathrooms (plumbing, fixtures, tile work, restoration, AC ducting) 9. Complete electrical service upgrade, all electrical fixtures, lights, and outlets to code. 10. Basement (plumbing, flooring, clean & paint) 9. Roof and Exterior (shake wood shingle replacement and repair, gutters, vegetation removal, runoff elevations corrected, landscaping, cosmetic improvements) 10. Garage (floor, door, elect) 11. Custom deck work 12. Fence and gate repair. The list above should emphasize that AA touched every part of this 60 year old home in the course of their efforts. There was NO single area of the house that could even be considered "ok" beforehand - EVERY AREA was "poor"!! His team performed like specialists in every area they touched (plumbing, electrical, construction - you name it) and NOT just "good at some things, not-so-good" at others. They were very good at EVERYTHING. Furthermore, AA was able to address EVERY problem that they ran into (and there were many many), using experience, and when needed, creativity. His foreman Chris is a total pro and they were super-easy to work with. Not only does Allan (and Chris) possess a WORK ETHIC that has become pretty rare nowadays, his YEARS OF EXPERIENCE in CUSTOM KITCHENS allowed him to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, and a level of design awareness that came in very handy. He knows what right looks like! He never took shortcuts, even when he could have and where others might. He takes great pride in his work, and I think he feels connected to the project in a way that a friend or family member would. He did what he said he'd do EVERY TIME, and I view him as extremely trustworthy. I am omitting the value of the job in the info here as I see that as being sensitive information, but I will say that AA was highly competitive on price, and far superior in quality than all other bidders. They kept on task and we never had to wonder "what's going on?". Allan often sent photo updates (we are out of the local area) and we spoke on a frequent basis (but not too much). I would recommend Allan and Melissa Bridges and AA Construction and Remodel to my friends and family and know that I did a really good thing. I've included a few pics, but honestly pictures can't really tell the whole story. What's missing is just how bad the "before" was, and a lot of Allan's teams work ends up being hidden in photos anyway (inside walls, under floors, etc.). You will get a good sense of the work quality in any case. It looks like a brand new home. All in all, an "A+" performance.

    Quality Floors
I HIGHLY recommend Travis and his group. We have been stuck in a remodel nightmare, and came upon Travis from Angies list. Travis came right out to give us an estimate, and began work almost immediately. The entire transaction was flawless! We will definitely be having Travis back to refinish the upstairs in the very near future. Floors look amazing!!!!!!!!

    Marlon The Handyman
What a delight to have Marlon assist us with our "to-do" list! No project was too small for Marlon, and he did them all. Very professional, on time, and easy to work with. He is upfront with pricing, which we appreciated, and kept us informed of progress. In fact, I think we have some more "to-dos" on our list we will hire Marlon to come back and do!

    Kitchen Solvers of Kansas City

We smoothly and effectively worked with Deck (the owner) and Anita (design consultant) to develop our style/color scheme and when done, Steve very skillfully did the carpentry and wood work. All facets of the operation were handled in a first class way. Their excellent customer service, ability to seamlessly work in concert with other contractors (e.g. appliance and countertop installers) and quality workmanship make Kitchen Solvers a must for kitchen remodeling.

    Hupps Custom Cabinets
We chose Danny Hupp of Hupp's Custom Cabinets to make all of the cabinetry in our custom home because his workmanship was far above anything we had seen.  His cabinetry is not only beautiful and hand crafted it is reliable and durable.  His knowledge and expertise was far superior to anyone else we interviewed and he has an eye for details.  He was incredibly creative and used this skill to problem solve and make exactly what we wanted.  We built a 7,000 square foot home and he did ALL of the cabinetry.  He did a distressed mahogany in our kitchen with an extensive island.  There are hidden pull outs throughout the kitchen and an expansive overhead hood.  All of our appliances are covered in wood panels and everything is hand distressed.  We have a full kitchen in the basement as well and that was all done in a black painted and distressed cabinet also with hidden pull outs and hand work.  I had very specific ideas in my kids rooms and he was able to take my ideas and improve upon them to get cabinets that far surpassed my ideas and expectations.  To say that we have been happy with the cabinetry from Hupp's Custom Cabinets is an understatement...After almost 10 years there isn't a thing I would change about anything that Danny Hupp did in our house.  The cabinetry is beautifully crafted and masterfully stained and painted.  It is very obvious to anyone that enters our home that the cabintry is custom and done by someone with meticulous skills.  Besides providing beautiful cabinetry Danny Hupp stands behind his work forever.  He has come out several times to make adjustments or changes to cabinets that we have either stripped from carelessness or decided that we want a different pull.  I know that I can always call Danny and he will be there anytime!

    $49 Handyman
The guys were very courteous and cleaned up after themselves. Doug was willing to work with my schedule when I had a family emergency come up and the workers were always on time. The stain on all cabinet pieces match, the hardware is even, and the paint is smooth and shows no lines. The quote they gave me was extremely close and they consulted with me when another can of clear was needed. They covered my floors and appliances so that they wouldn't get paint on them and cleaned their shoes so they didn't track any through my living room.. I will definitely get ahold of these guys when the warm weather returns to have them work on my next project.

    Ray's Custom Woodworking
Ray did a great job of modifying the cabinets, so that a dishwasher could be installed in the kitchen. Was pleased that the leftover space was able to be modified into a doored cabinet and a drawer, so that all space was efficiently utilized in the kitchen. Ray is professional, punctual and a delight to work with.

    Hupps Custom Cabinets
Dan worked with us over several months, providing ideas on what we could do to update our aging 60?s kitchen then returned when he was free from other jobs to do the work, staying on the project until it was done.  A master craftsman in the truest sense, his skills go way beyond typical cabinetry to include metal work, welding (steel and cast iron), lighting, plumbing and an understanding of structural issues regarding older homes.  I won?t go into everything he did, but his first major task was to remove a set of cabinets with a non-vented hood over a cooktop island that was always in the way of our trying to cook.  He then installed a drop down vented hood from the ceiling which required him to run the venting out through the roof and modifying the hood chimney so that it was just the right height.  This was a complicated task which required detailed metal work and an understanding of what we needed to vent the hood properly.
Since the ceiling would need to be redone (popcorn to knock off texturing), we asked him to repair another part of the ceiling in the main hallway where a nasty crack had developed. He recognized that we had a structural problem in the house that required him to cut, jack and place a new support post under the main I-beam in the furnace room where it had begun to sag.  Once corrected, the crack was leveled out and the ceiling repair made flawlessly.  The new support post corrected a couple of other problems we had taken for granted.
Returning to the kitchen, he opened a support wall for us between the family room and kitchen that finally helped us to integrate the two spaces.  He reframed it beautifully, with a Mission style look and built a breakfast counter that is supposed to be a
temporary measure until I can apply my own woodworking hobby skills to put in a new one.  It looks anything but temporary
and he did not charge us for the counter.
Finally, we had selected a man-made material for new counter tops, and once he provided us an estimate, he suggested we consider granite.  This ended up saving us over a $1000 given the choice of patterns available to us and we love it!  With the new LED lighting he installed in key locations, the project has gone a long way to helping our modest home.  Since the plan all along was for me to do the re-facing of the cabinets and to build some new ones, he has remained available to me to for advice as I proceed.  We made the right choice in selecting Dan Hupp and highly recommend him to others.
Almost forgot - he is incredibly neat too!  Cleans up everyday when he is done, limiting the stress of the whole project!

    5 Star Construction LLC
Everyone was extremely nice and professional and very responsive to my questions.

The handyman work included fixing a metal strip on the garage door opening, installing a new can light, shaving 3 bathroom doors, a small bit exterior paint touch up, getting a stuck door open and tightening screws, and some good advice.   The other work was a lot of interior painting including spraying ceilings, 2 new steel doors to the outside, 1 small concrete pad, 3 permanent aluminum awnings.   I am very pleased with the outcome.    Thank you 5 Star!
